Marie Forleo introduction

In the U.S. we’re celebrating July 4th, which commonly inspires thoughts of freedom and independence. One of the reasons I do what I do is because I value freedom, in all its forms.

After 7 years of writing and producing MarieTV, I must say that I’m proud that it’s evolved to become the show it is today. We have viewers in 195 countries, have over 30.5 million views and counting (thank you!) and are more committed than ever to MarieTV’s continued growth.

That said, I’ve also been craving the freedom to do something experimental.

Something outside the confines of our typical work. Something fresh that would challenge me to learn and grow in new ways. So recently, I started messing around with some new camera equipment.

What follows is the result of my first few days. A few things to keep in mind about what you’re about to see:

  • This is not MarieTV. This is not about “delivering value” in the conventional sense of that word
  • This is an experiment. I may or may not continue making and sharing these kinds of videos
  • Adult language: Yes, I’m an adult and, at times, I use four-letter words. They’re bleeped out but if you have kids around, wear headphones

In our careers and lives, it’s easy to get stuck in a pattern of doing what we’ve always done. We do what people expect of us. We do what we expect of ourselves.

Real progress in life comes from taking risks. Click To Tweet

But real progress in life comes from taking risks.

The problem is, taking risks becomes harder and harder as time goes by. With any degree of experience or success comes added levels of responsibility. You’ve got payroll to make, team members to support, a family to take care of and a reputation (at least in your own mind) to protect.

That often means you start to feel anything but freedom.

But here’s what’s interesting. Success on any level can’t last unless you trust your intuitive hunches and challenge yourself to keep on growing.

One way to define freedom is the state of not being imprisoned. Which includes not being confined by limited ideas about who you are, what you can create and who you’re capable of becoming.

So in honor of the holiday, let’s flex our creative freedom, shall we? Let’s support each other’s hunger to be brave and adventurous. To develop new capabilities. To try things out, especially if they feel exciting and/or terrifying and/or interesting and/or fun. Most especially fun.

Let’s give ourselves room to play and learn and grow, with no pressure whatsoever on performance or perfection. Because as the saying goes, “Adventure may hurt you, but monotony will kill you.”

If you want to check out what I made in the spirit of creative freedom, here it is.

Now, I’d love to hear from you. In the comments below, let me know:

What risk — creative, emotional, or otherwise — are you hankering to take in your career or life? What’s one step you can take right now to make that happen?

Share as much detail as you’d like in your reply.

Thousands of incredible souls come here each week for insight and inspiration, and your story may help someone else have a meaningful breakthrough.

Important: share your thoughts and ideas directly in the comments. Links to other posts, videos, etc. will be deleted as they come across as spammy.

Thank you so much for reading, watching and coming along on this journey. Your kindness continues to make this the best and brightest community online.

With so much love,

  2. Loved watching this SO MUCH and seeing a glimpse behind the scenes. You’re amazing, and I love that you always follow your heart. Also love that you didn’t feel called to say you’re always going to do videos like this. We need to give ourselves permission to experiment! Sending love!

    • Nina

Ditto — what Emily said. I love this AND I love MarieTV. Thank you!!

      • Thank you Emily *and* Nina ?

        • Made me smile. Reminded me to get back in shape too. Hah! Thanks, Marie! XO

  4. Love it love it love it !!!

  5. I love that you followed your intuition on this one because this just totally made me smile. I think you always show your personality on MarieTV but this behind-the-scenes is next level. Love it! 🙂

  6. Megan

Thank you for taking this risk for yourself and sharing it out with the world! I’m in a huge moment of re-focusing and cutting down my life so that I can put more effort into the things I’m most excited about (a lot of competing goals right now, so figuring out which ones are the most important to pursue is tough). This was exactly the message I needed today <3

    • Jayme

      You go girl

  7. I want more of this!

  8. I loved it! I always marvel at people’s ability to let others see them completely unplugged. No perfection. No make-up. Regular daily stuff.

  9. Loved it!

  10. This was fun to watch. Yes!! FUN!! Please share more ??

  11. Oh my geeeeeeeerrrrrd Marie, I enjoyed this SO much!! I love seeing you all natural. It brings you closer and makes you even more trustworthy.

The thing I’ve been feeling very strongly about lately is taking up a drawing class. I’m a Dutch writer, coach, public speaker ánd B-schooler who just sold out her first online cours “Be The Example You Never Had”. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything I’m doing right now. And the thing is that I really, genuinely, can not draw. But I just really, really wanna!!!

    Much love and thanks,

    • Anna

      Go for it you beautiful!!

    • Congrats to you Johanna and I say….DO IT! Art is magic ⚡️

      • Carrie, thank you for these great tips! I’m totally going to get into that!

And Marie, Anna and Marilyn, thank you for your support! I’m going to do this!!!!

    • Johanna, I’m an art teacher and I would highly recommend you read Peak by Anders Ericcson or The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. They talk about the kinds of practice we need to engage in to build our skill in any discipline. I use them now as texts that inform my teaching and the results I’m getting from students is powerful. Go rock out your desire to draw. Remember that making mistakes and making even “bad” work is part of the journey to improving skill. <3 Best wishes!

      • Carrie, appreciate so much your mentioning these books. Looks like they are just what I’ve been looking for.

    • Johanna, just do it! I took a 3 session class on drawing and almost instantly it changed my perspective on what I saw – shadows, highlights. Go for it!

    • Hey Johanna, your name piqued my curiosity because one of my best friends is a Nolet… Anyhow, I checked out your website. It really resonates, and I just subscribed to your blog. Have fun drawing! Lieve groetjes, Ingrid

      • Hi Ingrid,
That is so nice to hear!! 😀 What’s his or her first name? There aren’t a lot of us in Dutchland. 😉

    • Loved reading your comment and your course sounds AMAZING Johanna!

  12. Okay, PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE. In vlog overload right now but this is one I could get behind! ?

As for a creative risk, I think it’s high time I get back to my roots + get designing and creating my digital art again. It’s how I got started in what I do now + it feels like my creativity has sorta spaced off these past few years in getting all focused on growing my business. I think bringing more of that digital artist side back out is what is needed – though it feels scary, completely outta my comfort zone + very risky! That’s where the magic is though, I’m hoping. 🙂

  13. Sarah Madisson

Love it. Still totally you….but showing more of you! LOVE the toons too. S

  14. My risk right now is shifting my story that people need to think I’m a career coach because no one will hire a Soul’s Mission coach. Shifting that story shifts the work/programs I create. A totally different come-from that feels way more like fun to me!

    • Karen J

Glad you’re taking that risk, Laurie – I’d definitely hire a ‘Soul’s Mission Coach’ before I’d hire a ‘career coach’!

    • Laurie, I’d rather hire a Soul’s Mission coach than a career coach, for sure! Am much more interested in fulfilling my soul’s mission through work than just having a job that’s a good fit. Sounds like you’d be more someone who’d “get” me. I bet I’m not the only one who feels that way.

    • Sarah

Laurie I want to hire a soul’s mission coach!!! My soul is begging me to make music as a rapper. It won’t shut up. I could do with some back up… What’s your website!?!?

  15. This summer all about painting and take some holidays.
I need that space to feel my whole being
This year are set up a lot of new foundation to sustain my grow for year to come ( on my level)

I need to admit that I have the right, the money and the back up to take that time and rest.

  16. OMG! I LOVED this video!!! So real and yes, it’s wonderful to see you in your own life and not so perfectly coiffed as you are on MarieTv! You seem more accessible. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE (and learn) from Marie TV abut this is sweet and incredible and makes one realize she’s just like a regular jo. One who is successful and loves what she does…but who struggles just
like the rest of us. I’m currently re-inventing myself after a long corporate career…and working to take new risks myself. This made me laugh with joy and feel like a kindred spirit. Oh, and that it’s possible and a good thing to do. Thanks, Marie. Rock on. Hope you make more of these!! (Oh, but definitely do keep the camera still at times because I’m kinda prone to motion sickness. Thanks.) ❤️ Pamela

  17. Loved seeing this peek into your life and downtime – so fun! And thanks for the inspiration to experiment and get out of the business box 🙂

  18. Love this. So much fun to get to know the real person behind the videos.

  19. Amarjit

I’ve enjoyed your conversations over the past years. Whenever I needed inspiration I would watch Marie TV. I love the variety of guests. it was fun to share glimpses of your life. It kept it real for me and made me feel more connected to who you are and what matters to you …love family, nurturing, fun and evolving! Thanks for sharing!

  20. trina

Fun! Thank you for being honest….wow, really opens the liberation doors knowing not everyone else is feeling perfect, not even you”) thank you again

  21. Unplugged Rules!! Keep it up.
Love seeing “Joshy” and of course, the amazing Kris Carr.
    And YOU, Marie and all.
    Really good decision.
    Nailed it.

    • Thanks Katy!! ❤️

    • Cute, cute, cute! Made me more, oh and add more puppy cam!oxoxox

  22. Fun experiment, Marie, and loved to see my two coaches… yup, you are my biz coach, and Josh is my acting coach (sorry, Josh, I’ve missed quite a few of your workshops, but I’ll get back on track!! pinky promise 🙂 ).

Umm… brainstorming for ideas where I’ll unplug. I found a place by the Lake.

    …and go! 🙂

  23. Jill

    I loved this! So fun!

  24. Loved this fresh creative take on life as MF! I always knew you were a FAB business woman but now I know you’re also just a cool chickadee ? too! Brava sister!

  25. A risk.
    Oh baby.
Firstly, this is absolutely endearing and I can’t stop smiling.
And second, holy fire. I’m so scared about being as spiritual and magical I am with the LGBTQ community. I really believe they are apathetic and too cynical for their own good. So living with so much of my color puts me in a position to be judged and ridiculed because I don’t care about the logical linear point of views. Been struggling to be financially set so I can travel and make real friends. Old lovers be hating me because I didn’t pitch enough money at them. I had no money to give them. I can’t just buy a hotel room on the whim. I can’t fly to see them on a whim. I can’t be spontaneous like my inner romantic wants me to be.
So much risk. I wish to unplug from poverty and strap on some major prosperity in my life so I can make real change. Because all this “oh Bernard we love your energy so much” is not enough for me. That’s barely getting me by.

I want real balls to the walls commitment.

Independence that’s tight like those workouts, Marie.

    • Bernard, you are one of the main people whose name always stands out to me from our original B-School group, because you just have “it”. You are going to go far, I just know it. You got this.

      • Janet

  26. Loved this behind the scenes look ?

  27. “Spiritually aligned cucumbers.” Seriously laughed at that. :)) Also, I’ve never seen arugula in the ground before. MOST importantly, Maria, this was wonderful. It felt like my dreams came true, that we were friends just hangin’ out. More more more. <3

  28. Markita Van de Riet

I loved it!!!! I laughed so much because you’re so hilarious and it was great seeing you outside the studio.

  29. This was fun, thanks! It makes me want to take some time off and get away for a few days. Also: cute dog!

  30. awesome. The mind loves to create stories and so often separation from other people. this is a great way to show how we are not so different from each other after all.

  31. Karen

Thank you for every single thing you do because it’s authentic and even when you think it’s not, you remind me that we can all express anything we are and still be loved. Risk? I have been in habitual ruts in life, notice them and bust out. It keeps me alive. Details? Whatever it is that you keep thinking “this would be great” that scares you, do it. Face the fear and do it. That’s all you need?

  32. hey marie!
sitting on the 4th of july getting ready to get back into b-school (ugh, sigh, i put it down!) but this little video has me smiling! i love the saying SHARE YOU, SHOW YOU, it’s what people want. well, loved this and you are giving the people what they want! love how real you all are – looks like a fun recharging time! thanks for the experiment!

    • Kelly

Kerry – I’ve been procrastinating with B-School too. I haven’t even made it into the FB Group for 4 months! I’m declaring tomorrow I will start and get through it so I can fully embrace my gifts. Let’s do it together!

      • Kelly,
I’m having the same issue with B-School & procrastination. When it’s happening for reals, I have other yearly obligations same time every year that keep me from finishing…and then life just always happens and I don’t get back into it. With an accountability partner, I’m sure I can finish. If you want, I can do it with you too! I’m Patrycja at: [email protected] 🙂

    • Jillian - Team Forleo

Kerry, we’re so excited for you to be jumping back into B-School! Remember, there truly is no such thing as being behind, and it’s designed for you to put it down and pick it back up as you need. We love that you’re feeling recharged to head back in there, and if you ever have questions, you can always email us over at [email protected]. Rock on!

  33. Lynnette

Yay for you – being brave and trying something new. And as almost always happens, when you’re being truly you and having fun, what you end up creating is fantastic!
Thanks for showing your friends, your vulnerability, your laughter and your learning.

  34. hahaha Marie, you legend. Love you even more. Love the raw, real human that you are, people need the advice but also need to see you having fun, after all life is about creating more fun/freedom. Personally I tried doing a staged youtube chanel etc… but it just is not working for me. This style engages me way more and you have inspired me to try a more vlog style. Still love marie tv though 😉

  35. MORE PLEASE!!!!

  36. I have accepted that I am a spiritual mentor- always have been- but because of my own “issues” have resisted embracing that gift. Now I am stepping more fully into it. I am a priestess of the yoga mat and my “church” is where two or more are gathered to focus on strngth, balance, flexibility, surrender and peace through the asanas, pranayam, and mindfulness/savasana practices. I am here to love fiercely, be a pusher of peace, a connector of clarity, and a perspective prophet. I am a goddess whose passion is to create from my garden- teas, oils, and eventually delicious craft beers (opening in 2018 in the Hudson Valley of NY). This is my declaration of independence.

  37. Loved it Marie!
My risk is that I got out of mi corporate job a year ago, and literally was the best thing EVER!, so much freedom, always something to learn but so glad I made the choice. Love your work! Keep going with M Unplugged!!!
    Caro from Argentina

    • Congrats Carolina – and thank you SO much for your kind words XO ?

  38. Dang, girl, even your “experiments” look professional! It did feel delightfully more real, though, to see you off script and with Josh, the critter, Kris, etc. Softer, more approachable. Nice contrast to the “delivering value” productions.

  39. We are pulling up stakes, and moving to Sedona, AZ after both hubby and I independently got strong impressions that’s where we needed to be while we were there on vaca in May! Terrifying and super exciting to see what’s pulling us there.

  40. That was really cute and fun to watch! Marie unplugged with extra four letter words was a keeper!

  41. LOVE!

  42. I LOVE this so much! You & Kris Carr together??! Amazing! I’ve been wanting to start a vegetable garden for myself and kids but have no clue where to start…tips welcomed. Marie – I ? Your vulnerability and would love to see more!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

SO glad you enjoyed this unplugged peek into Marie’s life, Kelly! Thank you so much for your feedback. Go for it with your vegetable garden – you will learn so much from just getting started and putting some things in the ground. I find each year I learn important new lessons from watching veggies grow and discovering what they need!

  43. Dei

This was awesome!! I loved being able to see you in your natural element. What a delight 🙂

  44. Pauline

Well, good to see you’re human too 😉

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Absolutely, Pauline! Aren’t we all 🙂

  45. Louise

Such a lovely way to start my day…feeling a part of yours.

This is just so fun and lighthearted and you crack me up, you make everything easy to listen to, fun to watch. I think whatever frog you told me to eat first, whatever thing you told me to do that terrifies the pants off me would be less challenging. Cucumber idea is just a no brainer – next Marie business I think! Tasha xx

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you so much for these incredibly generous and kind words to Marie, Tasha! This means a lot to us. Also, glad you agreed about the cucumber idea 😉

  47. GIRL this was awesome! And so fucking cool to see you and Kris hanging out ? Love!

  48. Freya

Love it! So easygoing, I had to laugh!

  49. I want some MORE! Fabulous to see the gorgeous Kris also. Love to you all!

  50. Haha, this is awesome. And loved getting a sneak peak of Kris Carr, too!

  51. This is my fav! Thank you! love you

  52. Anita

UM LOVE! I love that you are having a play. I love that you are embracing something new in such a beautiful and authentic way. Thank you!

  53. So as someone who teaches others how to make their own videos (and started his directing career at the BBC some 27 years ago), I must just say that your editor is a genius. The energy on you “new style” vlog is infectious, you are engaging and entertaining. I have no idea if there is a point to all this other than to grow your following, which is precisely what this style of video will do for you. Congratulations all of you.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you SO much for these kind words Neil! This means a lot coming from you and we truly appreciate you sharing your encouragement. We’re glad you enjoyed it and are honored to have you as an amazing part of our audience!

  54. What great fun!!! Real life is priceless….Yes!!?!

  55. Hi Marie,
    I loved it 🙂

  56. Freedom! Love it. Favorite freedom song: MOTHER FREEDOM by Bread (now there’s a risk – naming your rock band “bread”!)

Thanks for the glimpse into the life of Marie. No big surprise that you’re exactly the same person in your “real life” as you are in your business. Authentic is you!!

  57. Tibetan cucumbers that are spiritually aligned, lol! Yep, I’d pay more for that. Fun video! Also someday you should come WAY Upstate in NY… more Western NY, to the beautiful Finger Lakes. We have lots of wineries here 🙂 Maybe for your next Marie Unplugged video!

  58. SO fun. More please.

  59. France

In a word, Adorbs. And yup, fun in a Stop n shop (or car or phone booth, if it was the ’70’s); what it’s about!

  60. Joy

Haha! Love it! I, too, love to clean things. I don’t know why… but its all good.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

It’s so satisfying, isn’t it, Joy?! Glad to hear you loved this!

  61. Love, love, love ❤️

    Reality Marie TV rocks ?

One thing on my list is to give Facebook live a go….
Thanks for this team Forleo ?

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Our pleasure, Zofie – so glad you loved it 🙂 Go for the Facebook Live – you GOT this!

  62. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!!! Inspiring in its realness, just lovely to see you the human being – relaxed, cute, lovely. And this is exactly what I’ve been wanting to start doing for my own biz, so thanks for leading and showing us it’s ok to be real. Awesome XXX

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Absolutely, Lucy, it’s more than okay – being real is always the best way to go! We’re so glad you found this inspiring. We’re wishing you all the best as you start something similar in your own biz, you’ll be amazing!

  63. Courtney

Marie, I loved this! I loved seeing you and your husband just living life and how you naturally are. Please keep doing videos like this too, it made me feel like I got to know you better. 🙂

  64. Cati

Fun but not my cup of tea to be honest

    • Jana

I agree, Cati. I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt that way. Thank you for having the courage to be honest and put it out there in a respectful yet straight-forward manner.

  65. Love this❣️ I have been feeling the need to take a creative risk in my life and since I’m not usually a huge risk taker, I’m paying attention to that feeling. I watched MarieTV episodes yesterday (again?) on decision making, trusting your gut, knowing when to quit…and love the exercise on really getting into how you feel when asking yourself certain questions. Someone I admire recently told me to “write the damn book!” Think I’m gonna.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

YES Liz, write that book!! We’re cheering you on big time over here as you begin taking the risks you’re feeling called to. Oftentimes, our mind does a really good job of convincing us of all the reasons not to do something, but when we actually begin and put ourselves out there, we realize most of these worries just aren’t well-founded or true. You can SO do this!

I have a feeling you’ll really enjoy this episode of MarieTV with Cheryl Strayed, too, and wanted to share it with you:

  66. Marie, you look so happy and relaxed! Thanks for sharing your unplugged getaway with us. And thank you for all that you do. Your Marie TV episodes have opened me up to so many great people and ideas that I have learned so much from, and I cannot believe the positive impact that your courses are having on me and my business right now. If I think about it too much, I know I will self-sabotage from a deep-seated fear of success. So I think about it just like those workouts – just do it and get through it and then enjoy the rest of the day.

Hope your weekend away is the start to a wonderful summer!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you so much for this kind note, Kimberly! We’re really excited to hear about all the positive things going on for you and your business right now 🙂 Yes, keep up the amazing work, and know that you are absolutely worthy of this success! We’re so thrilled to have you as an amazing part of our community and are cheering you on as you continue to evolve and grow. Please be sure to keep us posted on your progress, we love hearing from you!

  67. I got to meet your now-famous Josh! He’s almost a cute as your puppy 🙂
Love the unplugged Marie! A little video lesson embedded in there + a LOT of real feelings. Kudos for being experimental!

  68. Love all of the music!
    Happy Fourth!

    Happy Fourth!

  69. Michelle

So great! What a great start to my day! I’m still smiling and laughing – love it!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

SO happy this brought you smiles and laughs, Michelle!

  70. YES! Loved seeing this. It was authentic and fun. More please.

  71. Oh Marie – is it possible for our girl crushes to get any BIIIIGGER! Love a little behind the scenes, LOVE seeing you out of the workspace having fun with friends and lover, and also doing something different – can well imagine you’ve been itching to experiment. Looks a little like you should experiment away! Love one of your many and biggest fans (but possibly not a previous commenter), Alexia in the UK xoxoxoxoxo

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you SO much for this delightful comment, Alexia! It’s wonderful to hear from you, and we’re happy that you loved seeing Marie Unplugged. It’s an honor to have you as part of our global community and thank you for your positive feedback! XOXO

  72. Mega inspired to just get down to it and BE creation! Risks? What are those? Lol 🙂 Had a good few ol’ laughs too. Wanna hang out with you and Kris! Oh boy – wanna do that work out – especially the chair bit! Can I see that again?

  73. Really loved this!

  74. Being the camera geek, I kept trying to get a glimpse of your new equipment, like the shadow in the Tibetan prayer-flagged garden and the car windshield. Any chance you’ll share your shootin’ stuff?

LOOOOVe you, (and Josh too). <3

  75. This was just a pure treat. To see the real Marie. Not that you’re not the “real” Marie on I have no doubt that your are. But we got Marie more fleshed out.

  76. Marie, you got this exactly right!! Well done! More, please!

  77. anja

this video was like life is – just be – :)) very funny, hearty and lovely to watch …keep going!
i’m on my way too and every helpful and encouraging thing is helpful 😉
    xoxo anja

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you for these lovely words, Anja! So happy to hear you enjoyed seeing Marie Unplugged and found this encouraging. We’re cheering you on as you go for your dreams! xoxo

  78. Emilia

This was so much fun! It’s like a cool reality show where reality actually happens and not some fabricated drama, and your biggest problem it’s just choosing where to go for dinner ?. This is very inspiring, it shows us that you don’t need to look perfect on camera you just need to show up and do what you want to do, we all would be happier experimenting with our ideas and passions. I just love it, it was fun, natural, unscripted, and no characters, just real people enjoying life, even if it includes workouts.

  79. Miki Huntington

Love it! I was just talking with my life coach about continuing to grow and take risks in a way that honors my values and sense of purpose. Not sure what that is, yet, but your video is definitely inspiration!
More please, and how about an E-school (experiment with your life) in the future? Well? How about it? 😉

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Awesome, Miki – really glad this was inspiring and good timing for you! What an interesting idea for E-School – who knows what the future will hold 😉

  80. LOVED this video! Who doesn’t want their cucumbers to be spiritually evolved??? LMAO!

    xoxo – Jenn

  81. i love it!

  82. Licia Morelli

Marie – This is definitely my favey fave thing on the internet today – I love it so much.
    More, more, more please 🙂

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Aw thank you, Licia – we LOVE hearing that! So glad you enjoyed it and SO nice seeing your beautiful face here 🙂 xoxo

  83. Love it! A little slice of your life, and I LOVE that you visited Kris Car!! Fun to see her place. I recognized her kitchen. ? So interesting that I just started her 21 day Crazy Sexy You yesterday!! Synchronicity.

  84. Aline Silveira Candido

I started a project to gather all the inspirational quotes I hear there. I have separated a notebook just for this, and I write them by doing a little lettering and drawing.
I put the images in my instagram with the hashtag #myquotesmoleskine
    Check it out!

  85. Happy 4th and so much love for the unplugged and nature glowing Marie!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you for the love, Nathalie! Sending it right back to you, beautiful woman 🙂 Hope you had an amazing holiday! xoxo

  86. Mavis

Love, love and more love for this fun and playful video. 🙂

    Sharing my risk:
I am a beginning cyclist, and have been practicing for 3 months after not riding for decades. I also have Cerebral Palsy, which affects my balance and gait. I hired a coach, and have been tooling around town on my own, gaining confidence by riding on side streets and when traffic is light.

Today I challenged myself to go farther. On the way back, I had a bit of difficulty getting the initial push-off pedal going after stopping at a light. I had to regroup, center, and take a minute to get going. But I did it, and I kept tooling around. I told myself that moment was like so much in life – you make a plan, get going, and something unexpected comes up. We adjust, regroup, and keep going when keeping going is the thing to do. 🙂 I did not need to have a “perfect” ride. I had fun exploring new-to-me streets, challenging myself, and learning to stay the course…all good.

    Happy Independence Day!

Thank you SO much for sharing this, Mavis! You are absolutely amazing and inspiring. BIG kudos for getting back on your bike and keeping going despite the challenges that came up — so much like life itself and what an important attitude to have. Keep up the incredible work and thank you for being part of our community!

  87. LOVE this! Thanks for sharing a part of your downtime. <3

  88. What a sweet and special surprise for the 4th! Thank you Marie for sharing more of the unplugged scenes from your life. I am grateful for your honesty, humanity and humor and for trying something new! As always, I appreciate your leadership and modeling of how to keep breaking free from our own boxes. Sending love and gratitude to you <3

  89. Honey, you do WHATEVER you want to do, Marie, because it’s all fun – and I love your fun! It reminds me to lighten up and just remember…we all have lives…we all gotta live’em!!! Loved this. Keep it up. 🙂 I love seeing a slice of your insider life. Why? Dunno. Just do. We’re creepy 21C reality TV stalkers… JK. It just gives one courage to stop being a fake, flake and rake. Be real. Love it. Way to be. – LL.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you so much for this, Lorelei – you brought big smiles to our faces! How true. We’re so happy you enjoyed this little insiders peek into Marie’s everyday life and that it’s helped give you courage. Rock on and keep being you – we love having you in our community!

  90. Haha I was really busy working on something for a client. My partner messaged to say “MARIE HAS A VLOG AND KRIS IS IN IT TOoooo”
Hopped straight on Google to find it.
Loved that Marie. Thank you for sharing. I think people value really personal connection more and more and that felt so real.
    More please hehehehehe.

  91. stephanie currie

Thank you for sharing your totally unplugged self & your spiritually aligned arugula!
I would deem this an experimental success! You guys are truly great.

Creative risks I’m currently in the middle of (as a current B-Schooler ;)!) – I’m writing myself into a commercial. Yes. A cartoon commercial where I have to film and edit and ….animate? Geez. Talk about vulnerable. But FUN! Thanks for the extra motivation. I also found an old T-Shirt the other week that said “YOLO”…figured I would take that sign literally. Right?
Regarding personal risks – I’ve held a lot of babies lately. Kiiiinda made me feel warm and fuzzy. I figured it would be a good idea to open my mind to the idea of family and embracing serious commitment. Something that use to scare the crap out of me!
But thanks to B-School… I’m well on my way to figuring out how to just flippin’ do it all!
    You’re the best <3

Happy 4th of July from your Canadian Neighbour !!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Stephanie! So glad this resonated with you. What exciting risks you’re beginning to take on! We’re wishing all the best with your commercial and commend your courage in re-assessing other areas of your life as well. We LOVE having you as a B-Schooler and please be sure to keep in touch about how things are going for you!

  92. I love this! I adore Marie TV, but this has an amazing uncurrated magic to it that makes my heart smile. Lately, I’ve been seeing the trend of people getting back to more raw videos like these and I for one love it! It really does inspire people who are just starting out in the video world to take action and not wait for everything to be perfect. Thank you ??

    • Julia - Team Forleo

YES Mands, progress not perfection is always so important to keep in mind! 🙂 So happy to hear you enjoyed this.

  93. This was great. Summer is the BEST time to unplug, but it also creates space in our lives to look at what’s going on…the good, the bad, the stuff, and the junk. I don’t blow dry my hair in the summer, and let my green drink routine take some days off. It’s good to see that you too do the same. Keeps it real and makes you seem more like the rest of us. Just trying to keep it all together, and smiling at the same time. Thanks, and yes, more!

  94. I love Marie TV and your creative and upbeat videos. If this was weekly, I’d not watch – just think another celeb all about their life. As something less frequent, I liked it, I like seeing you in a natural “unplugged” situation, not just on the beaches of Bali or something less attainable. As always you (and Kris) look beautiful. Hard to imagine you eat brownies.

FYI – I did a 45 min HIT workout yesterday and 2 hours later I was in bed and stayed in bed till this am with a headache. I feel like I drank enough water, but maybe didn’t. Now I’m scared to try again! Happy 4th Marie and wow! Congrats on 30+ million views, amazing numbers – well deserved, I know you work hard at it. Those vids are one of the few things I always allow in my inbox.

  95. I’ve wanted to. Write a killer blog for a while (years), I got so good at almost doing it that now I write someone else’s blog. My adventure would be finally doing it for myself!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

YES, you can so do this for yourself, Rebecca – that’s an amazing adventure and risk to dive into!!

  96. Hey Marie,
Loved to see you hanging out away from work and that you really are a regular gal/woman. Just a relief to hear that you wonder what to have for dinner and see you hanging out with your friends. Great to have friends like Kris Carr eh? But I have super amazing friends too so that’s cool.
My expanding comfort zone right now would be to do a 3 minute (even a 30 second) video using my iPhone. How did you incorporate all those nifty insets and get it all together, was it using iMovie? Would love to do this for little video titbits for my website but haven’t done it yet and it’s been 7 months since I said I would.
Still it was inspiring to watch that the background doesn’t have to be just so even if a tripod can be helpful good to know!
    Rosemary xx

  97. Denise Opper

I totally LOVED this! I hope you keep them coming.

I’ve been feeling the urge/nudge to do something new and creative for just over a year, but honestly I have no idea what to do. To top it all off, over the last 6 months our family has gone through a total of 3 major surgeries, two car accidents with subsequent concussions, both of our dogs needed dental work, our first grandchild was born (the highlight!), I started a 2nd job…. oh my!

So while I still crave the ability to branch out and try something new, that desire has taken a backseat to all the medical drama around here. 😉

But I truly enjoyed this video and found it so inspiring.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Denise! We’re so sorry to hear about the stressful year that you’ve had as a family, but how wonderful that a new grandchild was able to bring some light. We’re sending lots of positive, healing wishes in the hopes that things settle down a bit and you’re able to try some new things soon, as life allows!

  98. Hey Marie – LOVED this!

I’ve been craving doing more video for a while now, and have often resisted because I am nervous about being able to keep it up, and I feel the need for it to be super polished.

But – seeing this and how fun it is, really helped gived me the push to push my limits more and explore the creative and fun side that’s has been crying to get out and into my work.

This week, I will take more footage of me here in Buenos Aires and sharing my thoughts, and just going with the flow. I’m excited.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Wonderful, Sonia, how exciting! We’re glad this was encouraging for you to get started now. Remember, progress not perfection, and enjoy!

  99. Hey Marie,
I have to tell you that I am sooo happy to have a fun, stylish, young at heart, intelligent, grounded woman in my age range vlogging. As a beauty journalist who came into this business the old school way, I’ve had to search for my niche on the social media scene. And frankly it’s lovely to finally have some inspo I can relate to. Annabel x

  100. I really enjoyed this! Made you look more “human” (I mean this in the most complimentary way).
I tend to get this vision of assumption that some of ya “high flyers” on the online business circuit get fed grapes in baths of almond milk and honey 😉 😉 and when in reality you are just doing your everyday thing and enjoying life and it’s awesome!

Do more of these Marie, they are super xxx

  101. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! I’m inspired to do something similar for my biz. Keep going with this, Marie!!!

  102. LOOOOVE IT!! Please keep ’em coming!

  103. Maria

Marie, thank you so much for letting us into your more personal and private space. You are such a real and a relatable, down-to-earth
person. I felt like I was there with you.

  104. Syed J. Ahmed

Hi Marie and everyone! Thanks so much for sharing your experiment! Absolutely I echo many here in that more of this would be awesome! It real. It’s you.

It’s funny how the world works. I have been messing with documenting more of what I do as a school assistant principal and health and family focused man. One step is to just talk into the camera (as you are doing) and share what I’m thinking and doing. Just share, right?

Also, I’m focused on finishing up B-School this summer while my school kids are on summer break.

Always love your content and the comments from your community! Big hug (I’m a hugger! Just ask my wife’s sweet, yet rolling eyes, lol!).

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Absolutely Syed, simply sharing from a place of authenticity and service is such a powerful thing! Really glad you enjoyed watching this. We hope you enjoy working on B-School this summer (sounds perfect!) and we’re sending you big hugs right back!!

  105. Love everything about this! Authenticity is straight up
sexy, girl. Thanks for giving us motivation and inspiration to unleash our own unstoppable authentic selves! <3 As I prep for a launch (which entails working, reworking, organizing and reorganizing) you've inspired me to relax, just be me, follow my heart and gut and just go for it. No question-Would love more of Marie Unplugged! Bring it girl!

  106. Louise

Oh my Marie – you are the best. This video is so cool and authentic. 🙂

  107. Safena Winfield

    Lovely and delightful?

  108. So real and so fun! Weird to think that Marie Forleo googles ‘how to vlog’! This vid made me see you’re just like me. Yay! Looking forward to the next one xo

  109. Jill Partridge

Thanks for being so real, Marie, and sharing your awesome (unpolished) weekend. Loved the unplugged piece. Love you. I’ve been watching & learning from you for years. B-school & Copy Cure. I’m taking a risk in FINALLY publishing my book in 2017. It’s big. It’s scary. And, I’m gonna do it anyways. It’s The Groovy Girl Manifesto, and it’s been whirling around in my head for a decade. It’s time to launch. Thank you for the encouragement.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

WOOHOO Jill!! How exciting that you’re publishing your book this year. We’re so thrilled that you’re putting this out into the world despite your fears – that’s amazing. Keep up the awesome work, we’re cheering for you big time over here and wishing you incredible success!

  110. Christy

First, I didn’t know you were married to Josh Pais ( I didn’t know his name, but recognized him). You have a good sense of improvised humor-what world doesn’t need more of that? And look, Tibetan cucumbers are trending now (I just made that up). Do more, see how it goes!

  111. Richelle

Fun. Real. Love it. Great to see that you live like everyone else…go to ShopRite, eat brownies, struggle with working out, etc…and yet you work hard for what you have and still strive to go further. Very inspiring! Thank you!

  112. Marie, couldn’t love you any more!!! lol Just awesome.

  113. Loved seeing behind the scenes! Although you always bring your authentic”ness” to the arena this was so fun to watch! I honestly think we as humans crave it which is why we are always interested in celebrity’s real life stuff!! Thanks for being you!!

  114. Christina Gouveia

THIS WAS AWESOME!!!! Showing a snippet of your unplugged self does help me relate to you- you were just YOU and that was great!
Loved seeing kris Carr & hubby- she’s lovely!!
My risk factor is delving into my private practice FULL TIME and letting the contract work summer down into the back ground rather than vice versa. I want to. I’m scared. I’m terrified of all the hours of hard work I need to put into it to MAKE it WORK. And of course there’s the money aspect: cost of shifting gears. I know everything will work out in the end…..I just want to make the decision at a “perfectly timed” moment….which there isn’t a perfectly timed moment. Every moment is the moment. And if need be I can fall back on the contract work if it doesn’t work out. So I’ve had my entire pep talk with you here…..I just gotta jump. And I’m scared to jump.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Christina! This is an exciting step you’re getting ready to take, and we completely understand how overwhelming and scary such a big shift can be. You’re exactly right, that there really is no perfect time to take the leap and go for it – the best time is NOW! You can absolutely re-assess and adjust course once you’ve started your private practice full time, and you’ll never know how it will work until you try making the shift.

I have a feeling you may find this episode of MarieTV helpful when it comes to making the necessary time for this work:

We’re cheering you on, you SO got this!

  115. Sandra

Loved it!! with bonus Kris Carr! My 2 favorite gals! You can’t go wrong. xo

  116. Maggie

Make these videos all the time. I love seeing you just doing whatever!

  117. Tami

Fabulous! Thank you for taking the risk and sharing the unplugged Marie. It’s a great reminder that so much of life really is just an experiment.
p.s. It was great to see Kris Carr and her garden. Hook me up with some of those Tibetan cucumbers?
    Keep doin what you do!

  118. It’s so awesome to see you being real and giving us that peek into your life. I adore MarieTV, of course, but it’s such polished perfection that I sometimes feel like “sure, she can do it, because she has it all”. No bitterness there, just admiration. But there’s also a feeling of “I’m not like that. I’m not good enough.” Seeing a glimpse into your more everyday life and seeing you around friends and Josh just made me see that wow, you’re just a person, just like all of us. And if you can do it–take risks, go for your dreams with all that you are, be real even when you’re scared–then I can do it, too.

    • Also, can’t stop cracking up at the “It was my best sauna yet” comment!

      • Julia - Team Forleo

Awesome, Sarra. We LOVE hearing all of this. Thank you for sharing so honestly!

  119. This is the REAL deal! Whoop Whoop. Thx for sharing!

  120. Sandy

I loved the video! You and Kris Carr are my favorite people and seem to have so much fun together. Loved loved loved it! I feel more connected to you ina more real way. Cool idea and I look forward to more! Also, as a side note I love the 10 min meditation and wish you would consider making a longer one like 20 minutes. It’s helping me through a very very stressful time right now so thank you for that. Or maybe even a meditation series would be even more helpful. That’s not even a B School idea! ?

    • Julia - Team Forleo

So happy you enjoyed seeing Marie Unplugged, Sandy! Yes, she and Kris always have an absolute blast together 🙂

We’re glad to hear that Marie’s meditation is helping you through a stressful time right now, that’s fantastic. We appreciate your great suggestions and will absolutely let you know if this is something we’re considering creating more of in the future!

  121. so nice to be Upstate with you… loved your cottage and being in the wild. .. Unplugged Marie felt releasing and giving permission to as you said,, just be where you’re are at.. and that felt good and well it felt.. releasing…and such a nice watch. And actually gave reason to be who we are in our rawest state. thank you!! More of these please…. it was only 5 minutes but felt i had had a real break from the day!

  122. Brooke

    Excellent! ❤️❤️❤️

  123. Brigitte A

    i LIKE it!

  124. Ummehani

    Very cool!!

But Pleaseeeeeee Noooooooooo………………… was not as special as Marie TV…This is something almost everyone else is doing…Its great that you did it because it might have been a RISK FOR YOU but my point of view is its NOT FOR YOU…..;-)
(And of course its only my point of view)

I mean you are real, authentic and beautiful no matter what you will carry on with…

    • Sophie

From the sounds of it, “Marie Unplugged” is just a side project – not something to replace MarieTV, but to go alongside it.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you so much for sharing your honest thoughts with us, Ummehani! We really appreciate it and are happy to hear how much you love MarieTV 🙂 Don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere!

  125. Realllly loved the real deal unscripted MF! Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Marie TV. But it is also refreshing to see who you are behind the curtain. I loved seeing how sweet you are with your hubs. Your light just shines! Also, sign me up for some of those Tibetan cucumbers ?

  126. Happy that you followed your intuition… this validates my own choice: after 7 years of working as a coach for compagnies, i decided this year to train people for topics that i care.. so i am nearly bankrupt but i know that this new biz is going to be a great success… congrats for all your choice Marie!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

We’ve got our fingers crossed for you, Jessy! 🙂

  127. Please keep doing what you were doing. It works! I appreciate very much your need to be creative, but I am not a fan of reality tv. Marie TV is awesome!!!
I am going to try my own radio show!

  128. My biggest struggle right now as an artist early in my career is the tension between building up a solid body of work to prove my commitment and dedication, and continuously trying new things. There are so many things I want to make! I’m worried that my experimentation makes me look scattered and makes people less likely to hire me or want to show my work.

  129. I wonder who is editing all this? Lol. If you are going rouge with selfie-video, try moving to the DJI Ozmo Action Camera. ? No more dizzy frying pan shots though, please. ?

  130. I like the Marie Unplugged in the mix of Marie TV. Not all work, but fun as well. With Marie TV I am building the business I want, but this helps me build the lifestyle 😀

  131. I knew it!
Cucumbers grow better with prayer flags close by. 🙂
Most of my life I have followed my nose… mostly I’ve taken the road less travelled and landed in places of meaningful success through real life action.
Even so I sometimes dobut my own path.
This? This experiment of yours resonates big time.
Thanks for reminder to keep following my nose. I have a good nose. It’s ok to be on a path less travelled when IT IS your own path. 🙂

  132. Andrea

Loved it! It’s nice to be reminded that the people we look up to for inspiration do the same every day things that everyone else does 🙂

  133. Absolutely love your authenticity! Love seeing the behind the scenes. Thank you for the glimpse inside your life!

  134. Anna

Such a fun video! I was laughing along with you guys. Great getting a glimpse into your day to day world out in the wild. Risk and experiment well worth it :0)

My big risk right now is moving away from the area I grew up. I’ve realized I’m stagnant there and it’s time for a new adventure. First step — house sitting for a friend to get a sense of a new neighborhood. Second step — scheduling an apartment visit. Here’s to moving!

P.S. I definitely think there’s a market for Tibetan Cucumbers.

  135. Thank you for this Marie! It’s refreshing to see you unplug & not working. Keep it up sister & keep following your charm! Love you!

  136. Hannah

MARIE! I LOVE MARIE UNPLUGGED… Yes that did need to be all caps 😀

I would love to see more Marie Unplugged, it’s great seeing behind the scenes

And one MASSIVE risk I’m taking next is moving out on my own, out of the family nest

  137. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your life, especially these unscripted, candid, humanizing moments. Though this may seem antithetical to risk, next week I begin a new job. After being a contract-based worker for two decades (allowing our little tribe freedom to live our unconventional path and inviting me to engage in transformative work with beautiful and brilliant people), being an employee will be a new edge. May it (this change) serve all beings everywhere. xo

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Not antithetical at all, Melissa––risks come in many different forms. We hope you have a beautiful first day and that you love your new job! 🙂

  138. I thought it was really fun. And music on point!

  139. I suggest africa especially uganda, be your destination, get some talents, develop them, explore.
American citizens now need alot of leisure, fan i mean.
Africa is very hungry, with wars, corrupt leaders, majority so primitive especially my village of willa [onyakai ]. But law abiding citizens, welcoming faces
bring those cameras, it will be enjoyed in America. Tradition dancers [ajosi], akogo and many more inspiring dancers here. For my mechanical work you would do better.
    Happy independence day America.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

I’m so sorry to hear of the hardships people in Africa are facing. We’re sending lots of love your way and hope that things will get better soon.

  140. wow … loved hanging out with you! thank you!!!
Risks … well … I’m about to fully launch my work as a Past Life Coach. I live in a very small, remote community (accessible only by boat or plane) I know this aspect of my work is out there, for some possibly just a little too far!! But that’s their’s NOT mine! I truly KNOW and feel the power of this work and having cleared a lot of my own past life trauma around practicing my spirituality and sharing my gifts I’m finally READY! Feels so powerful, liberating and freeing … YAHOO to us all for going for it .. taking our lives to the next level … not feeling a need to ask permission of others to be who we were born to be …. since when did a sunflower ask for permission to look beautiful and shine? Thank you Marie for bringing your sunshine in to my kitchen this morning .. thank you for giving us the tools to shine … love you .. LOVE B-school .. and loved loved loved hanging out witch ya!

  141. Rosy Rivero

Your video was fun, refreshing and entertaining.
I’m on the verge of starting an online business designing and making décor pillows for little kids and babies. It feels scary and exciting at the same time.
Thank you for your inspiration Marie!

  142. Kelli

Authentic , inspiring , love it!

  143. Love this! Definitely want more. Normal lives, normal people – great to see this side. Gorgeous locations too. Thanks for sharing and getting out of your ‘norm’ 🙂

  144. Sophie

Wow, I really needed this reminder. I left teaching two years ago and I’ve been struggling in the “analysis paralysis” stage of trying to figure out what’s next. I’m like you in that I’m multi-passionate and I recently realized I have a fear of being successful and thereby boxed into one thing for the rest of my life. Seeing you go after something new and creative and outside of your comfort zone makes me excited to try those things I’ve been thinking of doing. Love your “let’s see how this goes” attitude towards your new project! (Also, those four letter words give me life so keep ’em coming!)

  145. Marie, you’re just as delightful on Unplugged as you are on MarieTV. By you being your genuine, authentic, manager-special loving self, it reminds me that I can also be this way. I would totally say hi to veggies in the garden, too! I recently took a risk by leaving my secure job because the chaos and stress of the day to day were too much for me. I feel like a failure for no longer being able to handle the job I’ve been doing for 10+ years. Now, I don’t know what I’m going to do next, but by listening to your advice and being my real self, I hope that I can create something amazing! Thank you, Marie, for being an amazing, inspirational person!

  146. Jen

Marie! This was so fun to see you in real life just doing your thing! Something I’d like to take a risk on is opening a bookstore. I recently ordered a kit from the American Bookseller’s Association. I’d like it to be teen/children centered as I was a teacher for nearly a decade. But it’s hard to take a risk when you’re still up to your ears in student loan debt and are a sole income! At this point I figure baby steps!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

So cool, Jen! I recently read a book called The Revenge of Analog and there’s a chapter about how indie bookstores are making a big comeback. We’ve got our fingers crossed for you! 🙂

  147. Love this new format! And love getting to go behind the scenes in your life a little. Thank you for risking and trying something new. It was awesome.

  148. Wow you are the first person other than myself that has said “I really like cleaning things”. I too enjoy cleaning things! Instant gratification…yucky to beautiful within in minutes or maybe an hour or two. I love it!

  149. Karin

I absolutely LOVED this video!!! More please!! 🙂
And Kris Carr to boot!! YES!!!!

  150. Loved the freedom and informality of this Marie ? it’s actually such a refreshing change from the bazillion self-help vlogs about too. More of this thank you please ??

  151. That was so much fun to watch, thank you!!!

  152. OMG OMG OMG need I say what everyone else already said? YES, WE LOVE THIS EXPERIMENT!! MORE PLEASE 🙂

  153. oohhhh Yeah! Now I love you even more Marie. this is awesome, the bomb, real and feels so touching for you to let us into your life like this. I love this experiment and this year I have come to love taking risks and say YES.
Now I have reached my fabulous sixty and been with you since the beginning I am all in on not asking permission to be or do and have fun along the way and do a universe load of good. Give us more!

  154. Rikki

Love this! a glimpse into your life. Just perfect and yet, still inspiring. thank you for all you share!

  155. That was fun to watch – particularly since I’m cookin’ up some plans for a podcast and toying with a vlog to go w/it. And, as a former east-coaster, I miss SHOPRITE!!!

  156. So good! The real you on ‘off time’ is definitely good to see. It’s authentic and funny and relatable. X

  157. David

Been watching Marie TV for about a year now, and have deeply enjoyed everything you’ve done with that. You’ve been a big inspiration for me. Now you’ve done even more.

This … experiment. Wow. What a delight. I absolutely loved the sense of humor Two Big Brownies/Spiritual cucumbers (“We could really charge for that.) These had me laughing out loud.

Mostly I appreciate so much your vulnerability and willingness to risk in creating this experiment. Way to go.

Now I’m going to go work on mine. 🙂

  158. LOVED THIS!
What’s the point? There’s no point! And THAT’s the point.
No fuss, just connection. Please bring more of this.
To me it was especially important because my own next-level-out-of-confort-zone-thing involves precisely that kind of video, and wacthing this made me feel like I can do it. Thank you. 🙂

  159. Jayne

I loved this! And how we do get our skin to be that dewy and healthy looking? Tell us all the things!

  160. Edris

I got so emotional watching this very FUN video. Why? Perhaps, because we all have a knowing that you are not a complainer and when you said it was a ‘grueling’ week, I made assumptions that you were busy, had some disappointments, and trying to get some shit figured out. Also, my emotions surfaced because we get to move along side you as you change it up, peel it back, put it down and turn up …which all can happen within a day and that just feels special. Thank you!

  161. I loved it! So much more relatable! Thank you for being raw and out there!

  162. Kelly Harsh

Hello just wanted to let you know I love following you on Marie TV you’re very inspiring to me look forward to watching a lot more of you’re show Have a great Fourth of July bye for now .

  163. Dear Marie, I loved seeing Marie unplugged and the relate-ability this video delivered! You shine as you no matter the polished or raw versions you share.❤️ Thank you for believing in the value this would have for us out here! You’re just a sparking gift. After three intense years of therapy (uncovering of traumatic childhood events–gratitude for the safety and wise mentors I have helping me to heal or maybe more accurately be stronger because of it, like a bone break), my risk is experiencing life pain and all so I can feel the good stuff too. Those neurons that feel pain are the ones that let in pleasure, the good stuff too! I’ve had an incredible spiritual journey that’s helped me survive. I want to let myself be me and give my little business with big heart a chance. I started it four years ago after BSchool just before “the big awakening.” It grew strictly by word of mouth across the country and up into Canada all while at the end of raising my kids. This fall two will be in college and one home in high school. I’m afraid the exhaustion (and pain) I’ve been cutting off from to “just keep swimming” and loving others with may take me down if I acknowledge it. The risk is caring for me as an equal to others and finding a healthy balance to making a difference. I’m afraid I could probably use a month on an island to really heal but am afraid to even take that time, childhood nightmares. Part of me says stay in the messiness of life and keep working on the engine while it’s running. Then something inside says no–go be afraid and take the rest you really need, come back charged and filled with so much more to give. My husband was just “restructured” with a nice package. It is figure-out-able and within reach. To date, my value structure puts hearts over anything else and can figure out how to re-juggle other things in the day, leaving business growth and my emotional health last. I even took down my website to pressure me to get the new one up, ugh. Bad decision. I’m still going to choose hearts first (my work deals with grief, loss, knowing one’s own soul and really getting people back into living and why they are here). Thank you for your inspiration and an opportunity to engage in making your video meaningful in my world. This was the effect you had for me. Thank you, thank you! I believe prioritizing rest, quiet and self care is a much needed moment right now. Much love to you dear Marie and to your compassionate staff. XO Kelly

We’re sending so much love your way, Kelly. You’re doing beautiful work in the world, though it’s important to take care of yourself too. As the old saying goes, “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” Although it might take you away from your to-do list a little while, taking the time you need to heal and re-focus is a gift to yourself and will help you get where your soul wants to go.

    1. First risk, posting a comment. I’m not a comment poster by nature.
    Risk level: LOW
    2. Second risk, I started blogging in anticipation of B School. I had a feeling it was going to be recommended so I got a jump on it.
    Risk level: MEDIUM
3: Third risk, I’m going to share the blog link for the first time.
Risk level: LOW but feels HIGH

  165. Mtizi Sinnott

Givin us all the FREEDOM to be real… play… interesting that you’re at this place with your health… i am in a similar one, and maaaan it’s been a challenge to workout, to accept my bod as it is, but as a former dancer I/we were committed and We will stay the course, this time slower and listening and progress will be made. Peace love and strength Marie!

  166. Fantastic!
Thank you for sharing and taking risks. Your video experience was a lot of fun!!
My risk today was finally deciding and sticking with, not without lots of fear and pain, to start a new life at 40! I’m two months away from launching my fashion business in NYC and I said goodbye to a relationship of 20 years that had proven to be very toxic!
I’m broke, I’m chicken shit, I’m freaking invincible and the best of me right now is my sense of humor. All best Marie and everyone here hey hey!!! xoxoxo RS

  167. Megan

Marie, I have been following you for over ten years (I bought your book ‘How to Make a Man….’ at least I think that was the title…long while ago!) and have watched your online presence change from the videos in front of the brick wall, the first RHH Biz School, your trip with Richard Branson…so much! And I have admired you and learned so much from it all. Your new experiment with the cameras is just awesome! I love this evolution of your work and it’s really fun to see you in more relaxed settings. Keep them going, please!! You are the best!! Thank you for continuing to share your light. 🙂

  168. More please! Inspirational. Real. Fun. A fun treat. Thank you.

  169. Marie this was wonderful and amazing . Thank you. it is just what I needed to hear to day.

  170. Ken

That was fun. No meat??? I take a sauna three times a week, but I hope you and Josh had a whole lot more fun than I usually do (at the gym). It would be fun to see a similar video about your Jersey roots.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

      That’s a great suggestion, Ken!

  171. Christy

Loved this video! And the whole idea behind the post. Very brave…and I strongly felt the freedom vibe, which I have been longing for over the past few years. One new source of freedom in my life? Art classes and my sketchbook. It is hard to give myself permission to just do it and get into the vibe of letting my creativity flow, something my career doesn’t really leave a lot of space for in my life. And no matter how bad the outcome of my art time is, I am enjoying getting comfortable making it about the process being enjoyable without caring about the result. Thanks for sharing Marie Unplugged and for all the badass videos and inspiration over the years!

  172. Lea

    I loved it!!

  173. Beautiful Marie xoxox

  174. Brie

I love this SO MUCH, Marie. Being a follower of yours and completing B-School (which, by the way, is ah-mazing), I’ve felt at times that your level of impact seems like a crazy distant dream for me. This video reminded me that you’re human Just. Like. Me.

Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone. I’ve got so much love and appreciation for you. XO, Brie?

  175. Memories….this Native New Yorker enjoyed viewing Gods country. Down here in Florida now sweltering ?and can use some serious shade under a magnificent pine. ?? Thank you for the vision. I also enjoyed viewing the realness of your lives. Happy 4th in the Concrete jungle. ??

  176. Loved it!

  177. Zdenka

    Love it, Marie! 🙂

  178. YES!!!…..I LOVE MarieTV Unplugged!! I love both sides of you. The unplugged version allowed me to personally connect with you on a deeper level. Loved seeing behind the scenes and I’m not surprised to see all the other rave reviews. I believe people are craving this type of real-world connection in today’s world. The bond with you feels deeper. Keep following your intuition and being you’re Amazing self!! You’re truly a gift to the world. Blessings Marie!! ~ XO

  179. Daniela

Great experiment! Seeing a fresh and authentic, a little zany and adorably honest Marie! Perhaps a little shorter, ending it after the workout and using the rest as the next episode? Only giving feedback ’cause you asked, so hope it’s ok! ?

  180. What I loved aboutthis is that it is giving me the courage to produce something similar…I applied for Gateway Incubators and they emailed me back OVER A WEEK AGAO, and asked for an actual video of me pitching my business. I’ve been making SUCH A BIG DEAL out of it, thinking I need to hire a videographer and ugh, thanks Marie. I can just do something casual and chill and be myself.. Sddenly the thought of getting this done, which is way out of my comfort zone by the way, is doable. I can do this:-)

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

When Marie first started out she was just using the built-in camera on her laptop. It doesn’t have to be fancy to be good. 🙂 You got this!

  181. LOVED this unplugged episode Marie – creative, fun and refreshingly risky. (those cucumbers are going places.)

Since completing B School in 2015, I’ve been revisiting the modules as I lean (heart in mouth!) into my next risk – creative, emotional AND otherwise.

One I’ve not only been hankering to take, but am taking this year – scaling my beloved, comfortable, familiar, Japan-based creative business, by researching opportunites to bring drawing to a wider audience abroad.

I’m coming to America for the first time!

    Much love from Tokyo,
    DMK x

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Awesome, DMK! We hope you have a beautiful time in the States. 🙂

  182. Angelika

Loved it and you are so authentic! Thank’s for sharing parts of your personal life too. Your dog is so cute! What a lovely Soul.
I hope to see more in the future.

  183. Love it! I’m pretty sure I laughed way too hard at what the dog was doing while you and Josh were working out! I’m not much of a risk-taker sadly, but something I DO need to do is jump in with both feet to teach something I haven’t taught before that I keep getting asked to teach — why not me? And dip my toe into the video pool, too — ugh! It’s easier to show some things than try to write out how I did them! I, too, need to get back on the workout wagon — just watching you made me tired — but like you said: the next one will be easier than the one before, and so on … thanks for all the raw inspiration! I love all your videos.

  184. I love love love this. Recently I did a survey with some close friends/colleagues/mentors and someone paid me the biggest compliment I’ve ever gotten: “Of all inspiring people, you remind me most of Marie Forleo.” As one of my most favorite mentors, that was the best news I’ve heard. 🙂
Part of this comparison comes from material like this – the way Marie is also an authenticity enthusiast. There is such beauty and connection in being real with one another. That doesn’t mean that it’s just about the pain and rawness, but in simply being open – open to share the fun and silly as much as the hard stuff. Marie dives deep on Marie TV and tackles powerful subjects. To share this side – that she’s not always perfectly polished and poised, not every word is a “tweetable”, and she’s damn funny just hangin with friends- this is what I love about the fantabulous Marie Forleo.
I’m not looking to be an exact replica of Marie – and my passion is specifically with relationships/family – but Marie is my heroine and a true inspiration to be real, creative, raw and HAVE FUN with this life! Keep these up – loved it!

  185. Simon Wesley

This is fun! Go Marie! X

  186. Annette

I love seeing “unplugged” videos and this was the best! Great to see the chilled out Marie ?
My risk – I have been trying to step out of my corporate hamster-wheel to do something fulfilling cos I know I have more to give with the gifts I have. I put off resigning for years, but this year God gave me a message and a kick in the behind for I am getting “restructured”, and will have to leave my job in the next few months. Scary but also nervously exciting, am wondering if this could be it, the start of a brand new chapter albeit a bit late in life. I have been thinking of what I can do and got on the Start the right business course. I had to get out of my mind funk and stop my pity party for a career that is coming to an end. Am trying to re-calibrate my brain right now to awaken the Creative part of me that I used to have when I was younger, it has gone into hibernation for far too long! I don’t know what lies ahead, it is a risk what with family to provide for, but I’ll never know if I don’t do it, so I guess here goes!!

    • This is crazy Annette but believe it or not I just finished watching the video and as I scrolled down to write something, my hand stopped right at your comment. Started reading it and your second sentence caught my attention. Can you believe it but for the past one week I have been posting about my workbook called “3 steps to get out off hamster wheel” which talks about exactly that???? No intention of marketing or selling here, but I am always amazed at the synchronicity and mystery of the universe 🙂 If you came across Start the right business and it has nudged you, pay attention to that nudge.
I was in your shoes for over a decade – feeling stuck in the corporate world. All I can tell you is YOU CAN DO IT! For me it started five years back when I rediscovered my love for art. Things have shifted so much, so many new paths opened up and today I am exploring and learning challenges of being an entrepreneur. I am an artist, life coach and sustainability advocate. Even though I didn’t know about Marie five years back, since last year her blogs have been popping up everywhere. The B-school and Start the Right business have helped me to get more clarity on my business since beginning of this year.
The most important thing is to first say YES to the life you want. And I am happy to see you have already moved forward. Whatever comes up, trust the process and have fun! It might not be an easy journey but will be soooo worth it. Best wishes for the new chapter!!!!
      Love n light

      • Annette

Gosh Loveleen! Thanks for this! I got a bit choked up reading your comment cos it felt like providence! Even though I know there are many of us in the same situation, but I can’t help feeling “alone” sometimes facing the challenges ahead, and your comment really gave me a boost that I’m not as alone as I think! Thanks so much for the encouragement and I wish you the very best as well in your business! So glad that you overcame the hamster wheel to follow your heart! 🙂 (do you follow HONY btw? If you do, the most recent post was really enlightening too at least for me – silencing the doubts within me to tell me I can do this no matter what stage of life we’re at!)

        • Jillian - Team Forleo

Annette, you’ve got this! It sounds like you’re on the brink of some big changes, and we’re so excited for you. Even though it may feel a little scary to walk into the unknown, you’re doing so with skills, experience, innate knowledge, and a big beautiful heart. We’re cheering you on, and can’t wait to hear what unfolds for you!

    • Loved it! I am an artist and life coach and I’ve noticed how my creativity drops when I start getting too comfortable with a type of work. For past three years I have resisted taking commissioned artwork because I feared I will loose freedom to create. But since the beginning of this year, I was asked to do many commissioned projects – big and small. I decided to go with the flow and do it. And honestly I have loved making it all! Because I was learning new tools plus creating someone else’s vision – which is sooo challenging!
And as a coach, I co-host an event with my writer friend. We have talked about doing fb live but we both are camera shy. The last event we had – no one showed up. So we decided to do a fb live! We were super nervous but that didn’t stop us. And we talked for like 45 minutes without any preparation!!!! It was a proud moment for us – it was a perfectly imperfect video but we were happy to get out of our comfort zone and try something we never thought we would!

  187. Marie,
I LOVED THIS! It is nice to see unscripted video like this. Keeps it all real.
    More please!

  188. Heather Moeller

What a fun day y’all had. It was a bonus with Kris Carr!!! Right now I’m in the middle of a big transition. I’m closing my traditional counseling practice which has been very successful, but after B school I really defined what I’m drawn to do and my ideal population. So, on August 1st I’m submitting my artwork and manuscript to my favorite publishing house. It’s a risk, but I’m doing it and I’m so happy. I could not have done this with this level of organization and detail without B school. Thank you, Marie! And I love this fun experimental video you did. You’re endlessly creative and inspiring.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

How exciting, Heather! We’ve got our fingers crossed the publisher will love it. 🙂 We’re so happy you’re a B-Schooler and we’re really proud of you for trusting your gut and following where your heart leads you.

  189. This is fun! Love it! Go Marie

  190. Dolly

    Loved it!

  191. Merri Jones

Loved the video! Thanks for sharing!!
To answer your question, I am hankering to create a new health-focused business and transition away from my IT corporate job. I used to live in San Diego before my mom got sick and I moved back to Portland to spend more time with her the past few years). She recently passed and now feel like I am ready to step into the path toward building my new Health Coaching (yay! I’m an IIN grad), Custom Meal Prep, and Cooking Guide business back in San Diego. To prepare, i will actually go thru the B-School courses i purchased in March 2016 (i started twice but didn’t get far) and implement all the wonderful tools and techniques. Of course it all takes money, so gonna pay down bills and get some money in the bank before I pack up the caravan for my new adventure by year-end.
The quote you shared about adventure hurting but monotony killing was just what i needed. Love ya!! Merri

  192. Kathy

    Loved it!!!

  193. Love this Marie! A year ago I started my YouTube channel (as an extension of my blog, Downshiftology) and have been making healthy cooking videos that are of course, pretty well edited and scripted. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing vlogs, but as I’m sure you’re aware most of the vloggers on YouTube are 20 – half my age! Ha! So I thought, shit, no one wants to see me up close with wrinkles, puffy eyes and let’s be honest, probably not so articulate without a script (I always trip over my own words). But you’ve SOOO just inspired me to do it. There’s something so much more real and relatable in the rawness of vlogging. Thanks for this much needed inspiration this morning! And happy 4th of July to you. -Lisa xo

  194. You have the freedom to be yourself to the world by being creative and “Unplugged” is just that!
I am 69 years old, embarking in a writing career, but I don’t know everything, and I am certain that I will learn from younger people. Your enthusiasm inspires me to follow my intuition. Thank you for being you!

  195. Loved it! Really cool and authentic ?

  196. This was so real & awesome!! Thanks for the transparency. I’m in the biggest change & growth season of my life. It’s a bit scary but getting less scary daily as I’m trusting God & myself more & stepping out. It’s exciting to see how my own growth is affecting & encouraging not only myself but others. Thank you for your inspiration & commitment to empowerment!

  197. Stephanie

    Love the raw feeling ❤

  198. Kimber Grenier

I actually just took my “risk” about three weeks ago. I gave my notice to an unfulfilling advertising job so I can focus on building my Reflexology/Reiki business and am still doing my current gig as a graphic designer to bring in the cash while I plan my side gig. It’s been an emotional roller coaster of a ride, but worth every damn second. When your leg workout was less painful this time around than last, that’s EXACTLY how I feel after each week goes by: STRONGER. Thanks for always being an inspiration to us all, Marie. Been a long time fan and am LOVING this creative venture you’ve undertaken. Much love from the East Coast of Canada. – Kimber xo

  199. Uhhhh…. LOVE THIS!!!!

  200. I absolutely LOVED this, Marie! I’ve spent the best part of seven years sitting on my ass all day long writing novels (I’ve self published about 12, I think), suffering with the most horrendous back pain. The only thing that helped it was yoga. So last year (after my 40th birthday), I decided to make some changes to my life so I studied to become a yoga instructor! I started teaching a few months ago and I’m about to embark on a very exciting new period in my life… I’m re-branding myself as something of an entrepreneur lol… I’ve got tonnes of ideas, all of which are slowly coming to fruition. This week, for example, I’ve developed a new name for my yoga ‘kingdom’ and I’m working on a fabulous new website. I’m so excited about it all that I can barely breathe properly…. oh no, that’s probably just the heat in this country (Portugal – where I’ve lived since I was ten years old). Anyway, I’m going on a bit. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being such an inspiration. I only discovered you last week and already I feel like you’re helping me make such positive changes to my life. Namaste Marie!
    Suzy Turner

  201. Welcome to Upstate New York! It’s nature, beauty and peace up here.
I love the video! Yes, more please.
“Taking Risks” is a theme that, within the last couple of months, has been popping into my awareness quite a bit. I need to heed these signs from the universe and step-out of my comfort zone. I know what I want to do…need to do. Letting go of the fear of the unknown is the hardest part. Today being Independence Day is the perfect day for me to take that risk and quantum leap forward. Happy 4th of July!

  202. I love this more than I can say. It’s real. But, your Marie TVs are very real. It’s one of the things I love about them and you and all your team. This is unstructured real. Keep ’em coming!

  203. Happy Independence Day! Wow.. this was a truly authentic, inspiring and freeing video to say the least! Loved it! Marie TV is great and this is an refreshing take on life….. something all entrepreneurs must do in order to keep their creative juices flowing. Thank you for a glimpse into your weekend and may the sun continue to shine on you and your viewers!

  204. Veronika

Adding my little bit of “I loved this” to the string of positive comments to your really lovely ‘unplugged’-ness. I’m only echoing what others have said really, but it was refreshing to see the ‘real side’ of you and your life.

I’m currently living my creative risk… Today was the second day I woke up at 5am, have gone out to my writing shed and put pen to paper. That story is coming out!!! :)) (even if I have just woken up from an afternoon snooze, because I’m SO not a morning person!!).

I’m looking forward to the next instalment of your new endeavour. Keep them coming.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Awesome, Veronika! It’s wonderful that you’re doing what you need to do to fulfill your dream, even though it’s not always easy (5am sure comes early!). Keep up the great work! 🙂

      • Veronika

        Thanks Mandy! 🙂 xx

  205. Loved you unplugged! My only complaint was we didn’t get to see that sweet pup of yours ?

  206. Unplugged is always great in my book! (as long you keep it under 5 minutes) It was fun to watch before you used a tripod, but with tripod was even better. Thanks for inspiring me with your great reminder that we have the beautiful privilege of freedom to speak! Happy Independence Day ❤️??

  207. Can’t express how much I love this video! So much is said about being consistent with your message, but I’ve been thinking people want and likely need to see the whole you. It kicks perfectionism to the curb.

I have been wanting to share more of my journey – the things I don’t do well. So, I think a couple of DIY projects are going to hit my blog soon!

    Love you, Marie!

  208. Nicole Bertucci

Loved everything about this! I wonder how much more delicious those veggies will be after you said a sweet hello to them? After taking a break from my usual blogs for awhile (including MarieTV) because, well life, I’m thrilled to rejoin you. And could this video have been a more perfect way to jump back in? Yesterday I just completed the final steps in feeling ready to open my private practice as a psychotherapist, an unrealized dream several years and thousands of hours in the making. Thank you for all that you do, Marie. I feel a lot more reassured taking this next step/risk knowing that you’re just a keyboard click away. Sending so much love and gratitude xo

  209. MaRshelle

This is an experiment gone — right! Nice work, Marie.

  210. Jocelyn

I love this style of videos from you. So much fun! I’m really taking a risk in actually being myself 100% of the time, it’s hard for me as I realized i’d rather just “fit in” but I know thats not living on purpose!

  211. Tina

L<3vd this! Well done Marie for experimenting! And agree…more please! You have inspired me to think of something both fun and scary to challenge myself with xx

  212. Alena

This was more than AWESOME! ??Please keep it coming! Thank you!

  213. Hi Marie
I loved your Unplugged Managers Special! Whoot! Whoot! I just celebrated my 50th and am reinventing myself yet again. I had a question about something you mentioned in your post here it is: With any degree of experience or success comes added levels of responsibility. You’ve got payroll to make, team members to support, a family to take care of and a reputation (at least in your own mind) to protect
It’s the last part ” a reputation ( at least in your own mind) to protect
I’ve been hung up on that the repuation piece, I’ve always thought it’s everything it’s so important? I know on some level it is but your statement with “at least in your own mind” really felt like true freedom to me! Can you explain a little more what you meant by that? Is it only in my own head that it’s important? Do I just need to get our of my own way? I simply love your energy, not only do you make me laugh you always make me think. Thank you for the gift of you! Big hugs & blessings from Milwaukee WI USA ~ Kimberly

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s a really good question, Kimberly! Marie is always encouraging people to “stay on their own game” because it can be hard to focus on the good work you’re doing if you’re concerned about what others are doing or what they think about what you’re doing, though I know there’s more insight to be shared about this. If you’ll write to us at infoATmarieforleoDOTcom we’ll be happy to help you submit this question for consideration for a future Q&A Tuesday episode.

  214. Renee Stapleton

LOVED the video, Marie! In fact, this is ONLY my second (or third) time EVER commenting after watching Marie TV religiously for about? over three, maybe four years. . . Oh, I want more and to do more with my career. I WANT to take even more risks! 1) So, I’m learning about LinkedIn Marketing and Sales as an addition to my regular responsibilities (that aren’t marketing related) – to see if I can help our small company with social media marketing. I’ve scheduled a free webinar for myself. 2) On the side, I’ve just started going to a Sat. morning writing group, and I’m finishing my first essay, a rough draft, today. Free to write on July 4th! Happy Freedom Day. xoxo, Renee

  215. Cori

    THIS is awesome!!!
Reminds me of the stuff my teens and Tweens watch on you tube….. watching other people’s ordinary moments in life….. playing with a camera, having fun!! They watch YouTube stuff, then get inspired to do the same.

As adults…. fun is a missing food group in our lives! Watching you be silly with a camera, inspires just to get in front of the camera!!

Loved to see the woman behind the successful business!! (And her peeps!)

  216. I absolutely LOVE this, Marie. I can’t stop smiling. Thank you.

  217. I loved it! Please do more! ??

  218. Brandi Keeler

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS! MARIE! This is amazing! I enjoy the realness of unplugged Marie Forleo as much as I do the more scripted MarieTV. I actually started a similar process of vlogging back in April as a way to practice vulnerability and to get in the habit of creating more content than I consume. The pressure of my own personal growth journey, plus wanting to be inspirational to others coupled with the desire to serve others every waking second of the day was getting to be overwhelming. So I decided to go out on a limb and share my authentic journey: peaks, valleys and some random stuff in between. Your team on twitter actually commented on a few of my videos which was super awesome. Making somewhat-daily vids helps me to talk about my journey including the not-so-shiny parts and allows me to be HUMAN. I think a lot of folks in the personal-growth industry could benefit from being vulnerable, taking a risk and showing what’s behind the curtain. It can actually be MORE motivating to see someone you look up to just being REAL and taking risks! I appreciate all that you do and will definitely stay tuned for more Marie unplugged!

  219. Sigh…it was refreshing. Anything flashy and manipulative is a total turn-OFF for me these days. The internet used to be about connecting with people and places that were unknown…now, it seems like it has become a place to wallow in confirmation bias. Personally, I’m seeking to spend my time unplugging, but this video format is sort of like unplugging in public! I love the irony of it. I think unraveling anything that is formulaic is going to become a ‘thing’…at least it is in my own life. Personally, I’m sick of manipulative and flashy graphics, speech and formats in whatever form they present themselves. It’s all about embracing our differentiation…I don’t care to be ‘like’ anyone else…I’m all about fine tuning and recognizing who I AM. This sort of presentation fits the bill. Thanks Marie and Marie’s team…collaboratively, you guys seem to get it and aren’t afraid to highlight it.

  220. Christina

Loved it! It was great to see the transition and transformation from leaving the city to coming back home. Unplugged was a great example of living what you teach. Thank you!

  221. Hi Marie! I loved this video so much! It was real, raw, and to see you in your own element was awesome! This post hit home with me today as I am just about to embark on a huge risk or I guess I’ve already embarked on it in small doses. I am a B School alum and just launched my site with its first blog post. Yet, I am still super nervous to share it with in my circle other then my fellow bschoolers and other entrepreneurial support groups. My work is important to me and I am scared that I will be judged. I know it sounds silly, but I’m putting my whole heart on my sleeve and being completely vulnerable, which is terrifying! What you said, resonated with me as when I was younger I wouldn’t have cared nearly as much about being vulnerable and allowing myself to be seen, but now after a couple of heart breaks under my belt and life happening as it does, I’m terrified of not being enough and allowing everyone to see me as I am.

    • awesome start! all the best to you – A

  222. Faaaaahhhbulous, Marie!! Made my morning!! ☺️

  223. Yup, this was a lot of F U N!

And still some value, teachable moments and inspiration. Loved seeing how Marie does a weekend away. The workout routine – I might just recreate for myself when not feeling the gym one day.

As for the risk in my life? hmmmm, that would be not giving up on my freedom, which my biz offers me. I love what I do and how I do it. I am blessed with a supportive family and blessed to work with awesome clients that are aligned totally and completely with my values.

Thank you, Marie and Team Marie. XOXO to anyone who is reading this note. – Anna

  224. Valentina

Marie, I never-ever write comments, but this time I just couldn’t help it. You’re amazing!!! I was smiling and laughing all the way through the video)) I love your openness that helps transfer your ideas straight from your heart to the hearts of your followers. Please do more such videos! I loved that spontaneity and witty funny comments on what’s going on. I felt like I was there together with your friends cooking dinner, making jokes and doing some other weird things that create such warm, relaxed and homey atmosphere. As for the topic you’ve touched about the necessity of taking risks – it’s right at the time. I’m at the point of taking one and scared to death but at the same time realise that in case of success I have a chance to step up on unreached before level. Your work outstands from everyone else’s in this sphere. Thank you very much for inspiration, just right-at-the-time topics, your soul that you put into your work. Please keep on doing this. Creat job!

  225. After writing Cowboy romance books for the last 5 years, my traditional publisher cancelled that line of books. My editor urged me to submit for a different line of books, so I wrote a proposal (admittedly, I wasn’t truly excited about it) and was rejected. She asked me to try again…but I had a different idea! I gathered up all the indie novellas I’ve written over the years, bundled them up in 2 book sets, hired a cover artist to create fun covers,
added a cute magical romantic element to each novella, and am now getting ready to release all four sets without a traditional publisher backing my work. I’m even putting up a new website to reflect my new work. It’s a huge risk to be completely on my own, and writing in a different genre instead of my usual contemporary cowboy genre, and I’m scared silly. But it’s time to take a risk… if not now, when? So thanks, Marie! Your video today couldn’t have come at a better time for me! I loved it!

  226. Timothy Thatcher

Watched your first unplugged edition this morning and must say that I liked it – although not refined like your typical videos, it was real which made it refreshing.

  227. I loved this video. I loved seeing you adventure out into something different. You’re always encouraging us to just do what feels right for us and to live a free life, I think this is an example for us to lead by. You show us not just through your dialogue but also through action, and this is why I find this encouraging. For those who are Creatives, it’s a confirmation that being creative is just as important, or more so than making money. I am always and sometimes too creative, doing too many projects, but sometimes we create simply because we want to. It’s a voice in which to express and we all have different ways to express that voice. And that is exhilarating. Seeing you lead by example is refreshing and honest and I love it. Keep being the shining light Marie!

  228. Very cool, very refreshing…loved it

  229. Andrea

Marie! So exciting to see you unplugged. I’ve been an avid viewer of MarieTV for a couple of years and may be responsible for introducing MarieTV to Kyrgyzstan. 🙂 You’re welcome! 😀 You are always down to earth and fun on the show but peering into your life a tiny bit humanizes you even more. Being on Super SOUL Sunday makes you far more iconic and how far you are you in your incredible journey sometimes seems unreachable, even though you tell us all of the freaking time that WE CAN DO IT! (I’m grateful) Seeing you in action reorients our relationship. I mean whether you’ve been privy to this fact… its true. We’ve been best buds for a while. Thanks for this awesome experiment and for the mankini last week. <3

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s so cool, Andrea! Thank you for tuning in all the way in Kyrgyzstan. We’re honored you’re in this beautiful community. 🙂

P.S. You CAN do it! We believe in you and your dreams.

  230. Marie, you are so cute! Just you, not the TV set, IRL. Btw after you spoke to little arugula like that how am I ever going to eat it again? I’m already having trouble eating Daisy and Wilbur and forget about Bambi and Thumper.

I’ve been contemplating major change after going through major changes to get free. I want to devote my life to dance and helping dancers feel better in their bodies as they dance, but a foot has been troublesome and I may not be able to dance enough to do it. So…Maybe I will create my dance website anyway as a gift to dancers, just….tell my truth!!! give it away and then go to the beach and figure it out later. It’s the Fourth of July, after all!

  231. Cat

I wish you real vacation where you unplug for real – no camera, no followers. To me it feels like you are burning the candle on both sides and it isn’t necessary. You are beautiful, intelligent, successful. Can’t you deserve a real break?

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Absolutely, Cat! We have a company-wide two-week vacation coming up where we’ll all be off the grid. We’ve done this for the past couple of years and it’s always a rejuvenating time for Marie and everyone on our team. There’s an episode of MarieTV about it if you’d like to hear more:

  232. MORE

  233. Oh my God, girl, this is awesome!!!! This is what we wanna see, right here: the real life, the sweat, the grit (and the cute dog)…
I do something similar myself: a monthly “Homesteading in Paradise” movie, totally homemade and filmed by me, sharing our lives on our homestead with the organic garden, goats, chickens and kids. People like to see the “real person” behind the teacher, so there you go! Birthing fluids as the goat gives birth? You got it, right there on camera!

  234. Thank you for this! I see you being wildly successful with this experiment because you are an authentic person and we all love seeing more of your silliness, heart and power as you LIVE OUT YOUR TWEETABLES! xoxo

  235. The Busy Makeup Mama

Yes! Refreshing, fun, energetic. A nice break from the serious side of things for a few minutes. More of this, please!

  236. Lisa Sebastian

    Thank You, Marie.
I love it. It’s funny and it’s so great to see you in your personal life.
I think it compliments MarieTV significantly because we get to see you doing your everyday tasks & having fun etc. It’s real.

  237. Karen Foster

Hello! I was born an Artist, life happened and I put my own needs aside to rear 4 beautiful, successful adults. From time to time, I’d have to flex my creative muscles, usually when the current baby started pre-school, giving me that total immersion time I require. I’m not a hobbyist, I go all in and master whatever Genre I’m able to work in including: Cabinetry, Stained Glass, Pottery, Warm Glass, Fine Jewelry. In each of these, I would get to the point of producing commissions and all hell would break loose: Major financial issues, health issues with my children or family, name the disaster and it would happen. I’m the go-to person in my family, and there’s no way I can, in good conscious, leave my people hanging in the wind while I serve my own needs…that’s a given, for me.
Well, circumstances have changed. My children are all over 21, I’m seeing real Freedom, though after many years of conditioning, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Suddenly, I want more from life. I want to be who I was born to be and utterly selfish with my time and energy, though I cringe to say it.
After years of experience and skill gathering, I’ve found a Genre that can combine everything I’ve learned and in the space I have available, though I’m excited because I know the future holds the ability to rent a really large Studio space.
I’ve had a blueprint of the perfect teaching studio, which I drew out, on my wall for years, I look at it almost every day. Suddenly, it’s not a Dream, I know it’s in my future, a future that’s about to collide with the present.
Having said all that, a Studio Shift is a must. My Studio is 11′ x 12′, tiny, so to get to what I need to begin my new direction, it’s gonna take a couple of days of hard labor to ‘shift’ both my physical space and mental space. I sit here, plan in front of me, and there’s a reluctance to move.
I know that once I start, there’ll be no stopping me, and it’s a bit like hurtling through space, getting what I’ve yearned for for 30 years, and as much as I know that it’s right, I have fear.
Well, screw that! I’m important, what I was born for is important, I have something to share with the world and I’ve reached MY time. YaYa!!

    • Karen, don’t forget you wrote this here. It’s going to happen. From my experience the fear is an indicator that we aren’t in complete alignment with the dream. The reason I know this is that when ‘it’ -the big beautiful dream thing – does finally happen, it just feels like the next logical step. And it feels darn right ordinary. Still Very Good, but not HUGE, because we’ve aligned with it on a vibrational level by that stage.
All the best with your new studio!!

  238. ShelliB

    Grrrl I dig it.

  239. Loving this!!! More please!! I’m so about this 🙂 Kudos to you Marie for your first vlogg!??❤

  240. Carly Goldberg

Thank you, thank you, thank you – this is fantastic! Thank you for embodying what we all should be doing in business and life (as usual). Experiment, letting go of our ego or the “but we have always done it this way” monster, and not being afraid to fail forward. As always, thank you for being a wonderful teacher and inspiration! Would love to see more videos like these keepin’ it real (and Marie TV, of course).

  241. K.C. Gott

I loved this sooo much! Happy 4th ?

  242. Camila

Yes yes yes I have been WAITING for Marie to vlog, finally! And its perfect

  243. Love you so much, Marie! And LOVEEEE Unplugged. 🙂 Please keep doing it. I’m also experimenting with a new camera, so thank you for giving everyone permission to just do what you can with what you have and not have it have to be so “produced”. MarieTV is a moving service train we all love, but this shows us your life off camera, and people love that.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Right on, Tamisha! It’s so cool to hear you have a new camera too. Have fun with it and let your heart guide you. 🙂

  244. This is absolutely the best! Love seeing your awesome and peppy personality! ❤️️

  245. What can I say? I loved it, too. Your the girl friend everybody wants to hang with – unplugged or dialed the eff in. In fact, it’s the way you effortlessly do both that’s your secret sauce imo. You’re confident and kooky all at the same time. Brilliant. ❤️

  246. Please please please, MORE of these! So good to see you *unedited* & raw! Happy 4th, Marie!

  247. The real, authentic Marie. Loved this. Keeping it real while being a slaying business women is goals. Thank you. This experiment = success!

  248. kim

Luv it! Seeing that you are just human like the rest of us in your day to day life and willing to take a risk and put yourself out there without all the makeup and props is so INSPIRING!

  249. Great!

It made me smile a lot, and even giggle a bit.

    A delight!

  250. I thoroughly enjoyed watching behind the scenes! Thanks so much for giving us a peek. Your unscripted honesty and humor is refreshing – please keep making these!

  251. Marie, I still remember that dancing video for your birthday – you dancing hiphop in the street. It was ages ago and probably not seen by millions. But I thought you were beyond cool and I thought that was a huge ‘credibility’ risk – that worked!. This video is just you – surely not a risk ?? I mean puhleeze…!You dance at the end of your interview vids – you dress up, use funny accents… It’s hilarious that you feel this is a risk. Millions of youtubers are doing this daily. Just sayin’ .
I don’t think you could shock me unless you did a sex tape ….

  252. Well, I’d say that ‘experiment’ was a HUGE SUCCESS! Loved it!!! Thanks for sharing that little glimpse into your world. More please. xo!

  253. Loved it!!! Behind the scenes is skyways a good thang.

  254. I would love to organise a pop-up exhibition either for only my art or for all artists in the area

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’d be so cool, Linda! People love arts festivals. 🙂

      • Thanks 🙂 There are none where I live so I thought we needed some

  255. I loved This! Vey real and super entertaining.

  256. It felt a bit too Kardashian like for me. But it did make you seem more real and relatable. There is a delicate balance here of TMI and sharing snippets of your life. Oprah is a master of this. And I am one of your biggest fans having done B-school and Copy Cure.

    • Joy

I have to agree with Sallyann and a few other comments here. It’s a delicate balance here and I guess it depends on where you want to take the brand. I didn’t quite get it, but I do remember Marie’s advice about thinking “How can this work for me?” and I do appreciate it as a risk-taking exercise. Thank you for showing us courage in trying something new!! But please don’t stop MarieTV!!!!

  257. This was cool. Shutting down for a bit is an important message. Even Marie shuts it down! And, exercise can still be part of a restful day. I love that you were with Kris Carr, another personal hero! Did you enjoy your vegan meal?

  258. That was so freaking awesome!!! It’s nice to see you vlog! I felt refreshed seeing a different side of you and I felt the semary sense of freedom in your voice! Congrats on this new (And hopefully not so temporary) venture 🙂

  259. Tots adorbs, dear Marie. 🙂 And I also loved seeing Kris Carr and her garden. 🙂 Kris, whom I adore, is the reason I found you; I signed up for B-School because of her and through her. You two helped me through a tough year last year and you helped me finish my first book. (I am also doing Kris’s 21-day CSY program right now.) You girls’ mantra “Progress, not perfection” and your positivity are the ticket.
I want to be brave and have a Youtube channel and start teaching live (and later evergreen) online courses (on grammar and pronunciation and poetry analysis … — I am a language coach and author.) Please keep inspiring us any which way you choose and thank you for all you have done so far. Love from Frid in Germany

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s so wonderful to hear, Frid! It means the world to us that Kris introduced you to Marie. They’re really close friends so we’re big fans of hers. 🙂 It’s so good to hear both Marie and Kris have inspired you on your journey––congrats on your book and all the great work you’re doing!

  260. So FABULOUS, Marie!!
The behind-the-scenes glimpse is always fun and refreshing. While I know you don’t plan to make this a regular thing, I’ll be looking forward to what you do post that’s like this. Totally FUN!!
So glad you enjoyed your time away and unplugged. 🙂
    Take good care,

  261. Marie … I also love those little things to do with the hubby! and cooking is my favorite… question do you ever had a bad hair day ? Haha love you tons !

  262. Super fresh. Nice work scratching that creative itch 🙂 would definitely love to see more of these.

  263. Becky

This was soooo fun! Thanks for sharing. Felt like I was right along with you.
Heck, maybe once per month (or per quarter) we can get an unplugged video. We all enjoy the casual atmosphere every once in a while.

  264. Lyndsey

Hah, this is awesome. Super awesome.
    Love, love, love.
    More, more, more, please x

  265. Not that it was ever doubted Marie, that said, it’s so lovely to experience a deeper layer to your personality. You know, the one that lets us know you’re just like us all (well, except for the willpower to do those wicked workouts! #inspiring). I LOVE Marie TV and all that you share via your programmes in a super-practical, fun and helpful Marie-vibe. I also LOVE this vlog experiment. Can I be greedy and ask that we enjoy both?!
Thanks for all that you do and how you continue to inspire.
    Fiona (Dublin, Ireland)

  266. Mark

I love this! Keep it going.

  267. Yaeli

    Loved it!
    Raw, real and beautiful!

  268. Love this! I’m vlogging too and it’s challenging me every time! It’s weird, scary and it doesn’t really matter how long you’ve been doing it – what matters is that you put your raw self in front of the camera and talk normally as you would with anyone of us.

Good job Marie ;* Love you!

  269. Mitchie

    Loved it❤
    Nice to change things up!

Even I liked it!!!!! Much more natural and REAL!

  271. Love it, Marie. You are so relatable here, more than ever!

  272. Claudia

Loved it Marie! It refreshing to see you in your natural habitat 😀

  273. Christina

More please!!! So much fun to see more of the nuances of Marie!

  274. Omg!!! I love! Love! Love!

I did a photo shoot last week with a bunch of my clients and my husband created a vlog from it…and I was like…let’s be Vloggers!

It’s so much fun and really shows the REAL U.

    Keep it comin!!!

  275. LOOOOVE this Marie. Gettin’ real. As an entrepreneur of 4+ years, you inspire me so very much and this is just another reason to love you and the work you do in the world. Thank you for allowing us to peek behind the scenes of your life. XO

  276. Giovanna

    Personally… LOVED IT!
I have been following you for 5 (wow!) years now, have been a B-Schooler (not best student of neither of the years I have to say but making PROGRESS 🙂 and THIS video is just my favourite, because it makes you REAL! Loved to see Chris as well, I feel so much respect for her, and the place you stayed at is some fabulous reminder for the next step of my dream. Thank you for being as you are, please do share more of this “stuff” with us, and by the way, I also LOVE cleaning 🙂 makes you feel so GOOD!
As ironing and cooking, but you can’t really say it much around here in Spain as for the mainstream cultural bias, especially men unfortunately usually say back to you things like “oh really, when are you coming to my house to make my dishes?” etc. No good. But I am POSITIVE we are heading towards a time when all of these activities will be valued again.
With love and appreciation XOXOXO Giovanna

  277. jolie

Love you – loved the authenticity and watching you practice what you preach – work (out) hard play hard. Was a fun video thanks for the switch up – great to see you even more real xoxox

    a fan !!

  278. Love this!!!!;
Thank you for risking and for the inspiration.

  279. Matthew McGuire

For me I will start my own business helping people by having different ideas for ways of how they can successful too. What is one way starting today I can do that Marie is by coming up with a business idea and getting your help to start it. I love all your work at Marie TV and this video was a great start to do something different bye
    Matthew McGuire

  280. Martha

So fun to watch! You’re so creative! And your dog is soup cute!

  281. LOVE Marie Unplugged!! Keep doing it, sistah!! And what a treat to see Kris!! A two-fer-one treat!! xoxo!!!

  282. I loved this!!!! ?✨?

  283. Jeannie

So much fun. Need more please. Love!!!!

  284. anne

    Thanks for this Authentic Vidéo
    Like it 🙂
Good to discover your true self 😉

  285. Love it. Salivating for more.

  286. Haha!!! Loooooooooved this!!!!
    Your experiment =Validated!!!

  287. In a nutshell…FUN! I like the unplugged Marie. And all the other stuff too, yet this makes you more approachable, relatable! Yes, more please!

  288. You are exactly as I imagined you to be in ‘real’ life. And I want to hang out!

  289. Oh, yeah…the question. I am hankering for the life that I am totally immersed in the creative photography endeavors floating around in my head…from great wall art, to zany wildlife cards and superimposed semi nude images blended with the wild calm that is nature. Slowly….edging out of healthcare and embracing this new, yet so real, way of being. Love your stuff Marie. It’s the impetus I needed!

  290. Elizabeth

So much fun Marie. Please make more!! xoxoxo

  291. Janet

Love this Marie! Seeing you out in nature having fun with Kris and your guys is awesome and relatable! Thanks for showing us “unplugged” ???

  292. J’adore, Marie.
    Love it and you!

  293. Ky

    This is super darling!!

    Thanks for sharing <3

  294. LOVE this. It helps add context to you as a professional and really helps understand how you integrate your work into your life. MORE!!!

  295. So enjoyed the unplugged version!
Thank you for sharing this 🙂

  296. Nice! Authenticity is best, another 4 letter word 😉 Nice camera, what kind of camera was it? I am thinking about getting a new one too. I was sitting here, thinking about getting on my elliptical, then, seeing you, I realize that I’m not alone in my reluctance to simply ‘start’. So, start, I will. Have an excellent 4th of July, America!

  297. This feels good.

  298. Ok, so I never leave comments (I’m a virtual stalker like that) but decided I was today. I am thinking today about freedom – and vlogging – and how risk brought me here. I had a farm and life in the Northern Catskills (lord I have driven those same roads hundreds of times) until my husband decided he wanted to marry someone else. Tractor Supply? Shoprite? OMG yes! Well, I lost everything. It was his family’s farm; I lost my home, my farm, and my family, but I decided I would not lose me. In middle age I enrolled in college and graduated with honors from SUNY Cobleskill and am now starting an MBA in agricultural economics in Costa Rica, where I have been for the past year. I literally had nothing left to lose and so decided to go big, and take the big risks. Yes, it was terrifying and sometimes still is, but the payoff has been greater than I could have ever imagined. I still have risk and growth I am contemplating – and plan even bigger moves this fall. Happy Freedom Day, Marie! Good for you – keep risking, keep growing. Pura Vida from a gorgeous cabin in the mountains of rural Costa Rica – a literal dream come true.

    • Deborah

Paula, what an incredibly inspiring story! Brings me to a whole new set of possibilities for myself, as I cope with an unrelated but emotionally similar situation. Thank you for sharing this.

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

Thanks so much for sharing your incredible story with us, Paula! I’m so sorry that you went through such a difficult time, but huge congratulations on following your dreams (and fears!) to Costa Rica and beyond– you seriously rock and we’re all cheering you on!

  299. Looove it!!! More please!! 🙂 🙂

  300. Vania

Marie, I love your light!!! So watching you unplugged is thoroughly inspiring. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes. Vlogging is my dream too and hoping to launch within the next few months 🙂

  301. Leonora

So refreshing to see the “not perfect” side – I love Marie TV, and this just made me a lifetime fan. A breath of fresh air and funny … Thank you

  302. I’ve been a subscriber and a loyal follower of Marie TV for a long time because I like to hear your content, always relevant and insightful! I have never commented though… until now. I loved your video!!!! Keep them coming!! So authentic and sweet it is a really nice window into your humanity.

  303. Ummmm please do all of this all the time!!!

To be honest, I can’t watch MarieTV because it seems so fake.

THIS is the real you and I LOVE YOU! ❤️

  304. Shakkira

Completely loved it! Should do this just as much as the MarieTv. 🙂

  305. Margaret

Loved the video – please make more!

    • Matt

Yes, I could see “Marie Unplugged” as a new series of fun vlogs in the months and years to come. Next chapter–gearing up for football season (think foliage, apples and fresh cider, ladies).

  306. Deborah

You are so normal! Love it! What’s normal? Saying it is ok to have small biceps today even though we know they were bigger yesterday and will be bigger in the future. My takeaway? Be where we are / have fun with friends / eat well with love / eat brownies occasionally -also with love.

Thanks for being a part of this insider you. D

  307. Hi Marie, I want to take a risk of going to back to church again, to a new church that I’ve never been to since I last went there in January and what I’ll do right now is pray that it happens well.

  308. Kim Coffee-Isaak

Very Casey Neistatesque. I like it. Do more. Espically if it’s as fun as it seems like it is for you. Happy 4th!

  309. Commenting positive feedback on this!

  310. Hi Marie,
Thank you for sharing! I appreciate you sharing a bit more of your personal life. We are starting a you tube channel about software for small business. It is inspired in your show for sure, except for the fact that we are talking about customer relationship management for small business owners.

  311. Virginia Reeves

Marie – so much fun to watch you being ‘just me’. I’ve been feeling at loose ends. Have several projects I intend to do but none spark me to get seriously active about them. So… I decided to not be concerned about that and simply enjoy my down time and read to my hearts content. Soon my husband and I will travel more (I’m 66 and he’s 67) so we make up our own game plan without having to check in with anyone. To me, that is freedom.

  312. My risk: To travel as I’ve longed to for years, as I so easily could because 90% of my work is mobile and remote and could be done from anywhere with internet. I’ve put off opportunities because of excuses like whatever’s going on with my husband, financial concerns etc. But I think about it all the time. It’s right up there at the top of the bucket list. And today is the perfect day to see this video – really to understand the reason behind it more than anything- and look at what freedom really means to me. And what I’m willing to transcend in order to experience that. Gulp! And thank you!

  313. Super cute, super fun, I want more!

That self care is the best! Glad you u plugged.

  315. Love it, more please.

  316. Loved this slice of your life! Looks like a fun weekend was had by all. 🙂

  317. YES to Marie unplugged! Breath of fresh air and helped me realize I need more unplugged in my own life on the daily. Self care, real talk and soul nourishing yumminess! Thank you lady for being you, so we can do the same in our own terms!

  318. Jacquie

You’re a hoot Marie Forleo! Great to see you take some time to unwind and share some of that personal time with us!

  319. Love you Marie.

  320. Well, that was fun!

In the interest of creative freedom, I drcluttered this weekend and went to a fireworks show. You may have inspired me to vacuum my car, but I can’t be sure because I always say I am going to vacuum my car and never get around to it.

I enjoy clean things, but unlike you, I don’t enjoy cleaning them.

Thank you for the interesting peek into your life.

  321. That was awesome – truly enjoyed seeing you be so REAL!! 🙂

  322. Marie, I love it that you have the balls to go on camera with no makeup… just real. Many women can learn from you. I’m a no-makeup girl too. And of course seeing you and Kris… I loved it!

  323. Thank you so much for role-modeling for us that it’s okay to start new things and not be perfect and yes we do get into ruts and it takes courage to try new things. Your example of humility and “realness” is what has helped me the most to step up in my own life and do the same. I will remember this video and your newsletter as a life lesson for a LONG time to come and it will be a touchstone to refer back to down the road when I come to a fork and need to muster up courage to take the road less traveled.

Thanks so much for being you. 🙂

  324. Love this! Love seeing a glimpse into your personal life & seeing your personality shone through. Thanks for taking us on the journey!

  325. Matt

    Cool video, Marie.
Nice to see you step out from your “comfort zone” and show us a different side of yourself.
As for upcoming goals, besides hoping to gain more customers and in turn, making them very happy in running my own small business–I hope to gain a nice audience for my audio podcasts. I began experimenting them in the fall and I will hope to cultivate a passionate audience. I do realize it will take some time to find interested fans, but I am sure I will find an effective set of tools to make my podcasts a fun and exciting listen. By the time we celebrate Independence Day 2018–I could say that I took some sizable risks and made them work.

  326. Claudia

Super! Can people go back to being normal instead of peeeerfect all the time? Can we just show who we really are instead of getting well dressed with perfect make up and hair all the time in front of any camera? Hope this sets the tone for a new age!
Personally, you have inspired me to go on and launch my life coach career as I am!!

  327. Márcia Santos

I love it, soooo cuteeee 🙂 Thank you <3

  328. I love how your dog is just chillin’ while you guys exercise. So cute 🙂

  329. What a lovely dive into a new way to connect with people. I liked:
    – Your informal state, as a number of folks have mentioned – it’s a great reminder of
what we look like before the ‘extras’
    – The wonderful shot of the road and landscape – really calming
    – The workout series, great to see that you guided yourselves
    – Kris Carr’s happy face – the Cabaret bit was grand
    – The crack about charging more for Tibetan cucumbers – a reminder of your humour
(that’s how we spell it up here in Canada)
    – Truth about the brownies – oh yeah!
Well done about trying something new. It was fun to see and lovely encouragement for all of us.
‘Wishing you American neighbours (again, our spelling) a happy July 1st.

    • Thank you for the play-by-play of what spoke to you Anne ❤️

  330. Trish

Can I be your BFF? So fun!

  331. Meg

I loved this, Marie! I want mooooore!

  332. Mellisa

    Loved it!! Keep doing it!

  333. Love the video Marie!!!! Xo

  334. OMG Girl! I could watch you do this all day (but please don’t or I won’t get anything done!)

  335. Dee Draper

Thanks Marie. Loved it. Showed vulnerability. Inspiration to take risk. “Nothing changes if nothing changes.” Today, I will start on the process for my Life Coaching business.

  336. MORE! MORE! MORE!

Seeing you in your organic, natural enviro brings your life lessons into better context. I loved seeing Josh and exercise time. I loved meeting your friends (Chris Carr has such a pretty face!). And I MUST get my hands on somma dose spiritual cucumbers!

    Keep it comin’.

  337. Absolutely loved it. You are super natural and funny always whether you are in the studio or on the farm with tibeten cucumbers. I I think there is a place for both the professional, polished Marie TV (and all your gorgeous dresses!!!!!) and the Marie unplugged where we can see you without makeup and know you are one of us really. Did I say Loved it?

    • Thanks so much Laura – I feel the same way 🙂

  338. Inspiring. So much so that I did leg lifts and squats for the entire video. Now it’s back to sitting and doing computer work.

  339. Suzanne Henricksen

So while I love the more au natural vibe of this I have to say I’m also a little disappointed in the high production quality of it. It feels like you’re still using your full team to edit and produce the final version you’re sharing with us…and let’s be honest, most real vloggers don’t have that luxury of a full production team. So for a real challenge, I’d push to do something 100% solo with no production help at all. Now that’s scary and what we’re all living through until we’re successful enough to have a production team and studio.

  340. Susan

Loved the music with the video and yes, I laughed out loud throughout the taping…. Thanks for sharing – I like things that make me smile!

  341. Maychen

Love this! Very refreshing and I’m sure you felt great doing something different creatively.

  342. Love love LOVE this!! Definitely want to see more 🙂

  343. Cherri Porter

    I enjoy the less-polished Marie.

  344. Thank you for this, Marie! Loved it!
I took a totally outside the comfort zone life change with my husband and three children just a few years ago. We lived in Europe, then sold everything, got the 3 kids and 4 suitcases and landed as tourists in North America /in beautiful British Columbia, Canada to be precise 🙂 /
We had an upper middle class lifestyle in Europe, with succeessful carreers, private healing practice, big house, cars, you name it.
But we decided to give in for the “calling” of the mountains of the West Coast and the Pacific Ocean.
We became super poor for the first 2 years, but didn’t give up. I built a successful private practice from scratch and growing and most importantly our children learnt that absolutely nothing! is impossible if you hang on and keep the right mindset! Your videos has been a huge help, Marie to keep going even when it seemed hopeless…Thank you!

  345. Lea

    Keep vlogging! Love it

  346. OMG, it was so inspiring, and love the simplicity of it all. Risk with simplicity = I am in. Wanna see more.

  347. Can’t love it more! And you know…I really feel that I would love to do something like that!!! So natural, without the “make up” we used to see in alllll marketing videos…
As I always said…you are my biggest inspiration.

  348. A+++++++! And more, please!

  349. Kendal

Tibetan Cucumbers!! I love it. Do you think that if I burn my sagebush in my garden, I can have Shaman veggies??

  350. Jen

You are pretty much my fave….keep rockin’ it sister…you inspire my bliss xo

  351. Vitaliy

I think i will do the same with my camera.
    Thank you for the video

  352. Mishan Afsari

This was fabulous and SO MUCH FUN! I’m inspired 🙂

  353. I loved this! It’s so timely for me too. My two entrepreneur girlfriends and I just recently had a “retreat.” (We’ve been masterminding together since we took B-School in 2014!) We spent time working, time goal setting and time relaxing and having fun. During a creative brainstorming session about our three brands we came back again and again to the fact that our brands can be about serious things, but that our personalities are decidedly not always serious. We all realized that there is room for more of ourselves in our brands to help us be more accessible to our clients and frankly everyone around us, and to help make it feel like we are not trying too hard to do what we do and losing a bit of ourselves in the process. (Entirely not the point of being an entrepreneur!) Of course you were one step ahead of us! Thank you once again for sharing this more personal video. It’s an wonderful reminder that we are whole people, and that the women we emulate and consider our mentors (hi Kris!) are fun, vulnerable women too.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Love this SO much, Donna. Cheers to infusing more of your true selves and vulnerability into your businesses! What a fantastic idea to have a rejuvenating little retreat together – we absolutely adore having you all as B-Schoolers 🙂

  354. Susanna

Your new experiement is lots of fun and thanks for the peek into your life and the reminder about taking risks and getting out of our comfort zone.
(Unfortunatley there’s too much hand-held for me – I’ll have to stick to the talking heads.)

  355. Jennifer Grant

That was just fun to watch. I still need my weekly dose of MarieTV but getting to see you just living life (and who doesn’t love a puppy???) was awesome.

  356. Awesome, trop bien (a French way to say it)! as always Marie, you are the best at brightening my day! More, more, more! It’s like having a shot of “joyful energy” (sorry for my English)… énergie joyeuse ???Gratitude. Merci????
You rock the world ? and you rock my day ! Thank you ? With love, C.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Merci beaucoup, Camille! So happy to hear this brought you joy and your English is beautiful. Thank YOU, for being a wonderful part of our community!

  357. This is amazing on the surface, but also in subtle ways. So many teachable moments in this that make as big an impact as a straight-up Marie TV tutorial- and maybe even more. One takeaway: follow your creative spirit, not just because it helps you make things, but because it builds the RELATIONSHIP we have with that spirit. It’s a straight-up devotional practice without outcomes attached. Another takeaway: this is a workout. We’re working out the do-it-without-obsessing-over-how-it’s-gonna-be-received muscle. And a third takeaway: remove the “imaginal Others” from the equation. Research shows that we make decisions differently when others are watching, so… this helps “un-couple” the creative decision from the “Others” we might feel the need to please. This video is good medicine. Thank you!

  358. Marilyn M

This was such a cute video! Loved it.

  359. Debbie Loudon

    Fun! Marie bein’ real, free-flow.

  360. Awesomeness as always! Love “all sides” of Marie. Thank you for being authentic. ❤️?

  361. That video felt important in a different way. I feel connected to the person….now I know you are a person with real experiences and you eat normal human food. LOL this sounds silly but it makes the success you’ve attained more attainable to me some how, more authentic. Anyways I liked it, thank you.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Awesome, Danielle, we’re really glad to hear you liked it! Absolutely – Marie is as real as they come, and we love that this helped you to feel more connected to her as a person 🙂

  362. Kristy

    This is awesome!

  363. Yes!!! More more more!!! We can’t all be your bff, but this feels like the next best thing! So fun! Hit that one outta the park sweetie pie!! Xoxo

  364. I loved this so much! You definitely need to post more of them. I am working all day on this holiday getting ready to launch my first Episode for The Happy Workaholic Podcast. So to take a break and watch this was refreshing! Loved it! Again do more!
Wishing you a wonderful 4th of July! Kelly

  365. For some reason, the video is not visible, so in will watch it later. But I want to respond to what you wrote. I think that for people like us who came into this life for expansion, there are always going to be periods of stepping out of the lines and opening new doors. Right now I feel inspired to “come out” more with my intuitive ability. I am really good at doing spiritual readings. But most people don’t know that and I keep it separate from my “official” and “safer” work as a counselor and life coach. But it is all me and I want to integrate these parts more. Any ideas out there?

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Beverly! How exciting that you’re wanting to share more of your intuitive and spiritual side in your business. We encourage you to be yourself and envision the types of people who you’d most want to work with as your ideal clients. As you begin to share these other abilities of yours more openly, the right people will naturally be drawn to you! Also keep in mind that more folks than ever are increasingly open-minded about the spiritual side of life, so you may find that many of your existing clients are also receptive to these other modalities.

We hope you’ve been able to watch this week’s video, but if you’re still having trouble, you may want to try opening the blog post in an alternate browser – we recommend Chrome or Firefox. If you continue to have trouble, please let us know what you’re seeing at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to help!

  366. A day in the life of Marie- love it!! As someone who’s watched Marie TV for the last few years and taken BSchool I’ve always wanted to see something like this. High five sista on taking risks! My newest risk: moving back to Canada in November with no “job” proscpect and deciding to go ALL-IN with my biz. And starting from the drawing board, by going back to the Start the Right Business course, followed by BSchool. I’m gonna get real and clear on what I’m doing, who I’m serving, and I can’t wait to share it with the world. Stay tuned world-I’m gonna bring my A-game this time!!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Woohoo, Crystal – this is SO exciting! We’re cheering you on as you dive into this new chapter and your business whole-heartedly. Kudos to you for taking this big, brave leap of faith!

And we’re so thrilled to hear you enjoyed this more unplugged version of Marie, too 🙂

      • Thanks for the support Julia, Marie, & Team Forleo – this community is a source of wisdome, guidance, and the right dose of kick-your-pants-into-gear that I and so many others need!!

  367. Yahooo !! i love it Marie !! Good to see the normal life xx

  368. Titi

    That was fun! Thanks.

  369. omg Marie, I’m dying about you watching a vlogging tutorial. ??
    awesome work.
    and hi to Kris!

  370. YAY Marie! I needed this to give myself permission to experiment, explore, be more me! I’m always giving that permission to others, to be liberated and FREE, but sometimes miss the mark for myself. Hats off to you, because if you can do it, so can I! Happy to be in the loop with a freedom fighter! 🙂

  371. Seriously. The best. More unplugged please.

  372. LOVED IT – especially your Tractor Supply trucker hat :-). #tractorsupplyrepresent

  373. Gabriela

Very creative I liked so much….waiting the next 🙂

  374. CAUTION: Candid, honest feedback ahead… just between you and me, Marie*… THIS is my fave thing you’ve done in months! Confession: I fell off the Marie bandwagon for a bit there… you know, like sometimes, when you need it most, it’s all about seeking the inspirers (the mentors, gurus, beacons in the night). And then, finally, you get your own balls rollin’ and you forget to be thankful for what moved you in the first place… This video absolutely renewed and refreshed my interest in you, your MarieTV, your zest, your wisdom, and pretty much the whole of humanity. Just sayin! Loved it! Keep it up sister! Viva la Inspiration! Big thanks for all you do! Xo! *(and your 400k Y’Tube subscribers!)

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Eva, we’re SO glad to hear this video has inspired you! Thank you so much for sharing your candid feedback with us, and we couldn’t be happier that you’re feeling refreshed after seeing this more unplugged side of Marie. We love having you as part of our community!

  375. Ann

I so appreciate Marie TV and continue to be deeply inspired by you and your authentic, badass, expressive uniqueness helping so many of us navigate modern biz technology with fun and Soul. Seems your body is craving some self-love movement rather than more pushing. Get yourself to a fitness class that Lights you up instead of more push. Wonderful Nia classes in the city. Or maybe a Maui vacation. Warm aloha,

  376. Love this Marie and can’t wait to watch more of your vlogs. You always fearlessly lead by example and practice what you preach (and that’s why we love you). You are spot on about keeping stimulated, switching up your art so it evolves and moving out of your comfort zone so you can endlessly grow. There is of course room for Marie Forleo TV and Marie Forleo the vlogger xxx

  377. I walked early, because it is a hot day, on the wet Pacific Ocean sand at shoreline for 1 1/2hrs. Now it is laundry, napping, food prep and enjoy, project visualizations, meditations, and laying low. Watched the horses from the earlier parade clip clop out my window. Love horses!!
It is a GOOD Independence Day………

  378. Tiffany

Thank you for this! I love you polished AND unplugged. Real and raw is awesome. Brave is awesome. Not knowing if it’s gonna work or be the thing is awesome. Doing it because you really want to is awesome. Thank you. Thank you for being you. For bringing us along. For showing us the way.

    So much love. ❤️❤️❤️

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank YOU, for these thoughtful and kind words, Tiffany – this means the world! We’re sending so much love right back to you <3

  379. That was freakin’ awesome. Loved it! I’m on a 25 day motorcycle adventure across the country! That was a huge departure from my usual work my ass off daily to develop my business for the last 4 years. But we finally took the time, saved the money, rallied my courage and set off to see this country and it’s been nothing short of freakin’ a-maz-ing! We are touring the Utah National parks right now and I’m feeling my freedom big time. Thanks Marie for your departure from the norm and showing us your weekend selfie and how you unplug.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Amazing, Maureen – enjoy your trip and some much-needed time to unplug! Sounds absolutely beautiful. Big cheers to you for taking this courageous risk, we’re so glad it’s paying off 🙂

  380. Loved the video! Thanks for the laughs and the extra perk of Chris! I’m currently interviewing at a new gym after teaching classes for over 8 years at the current one. Excited for the changes to come!

  381. Love, love, love this unplugged video, hope you’ll do many more !!

  382. Kailyn Kyle

With so many videos pushing us to be more, do something different, be fantastic and special, it was nice for you to remind us to also be, well, I dunno….normal? The simplicity and grounding effect of your ‘normal’ days out of the city was calming and very charming, so thank you for that. As for your request that we reveal a risk we’d like to see in our lives, I’d like to travel to Europe, possibly alone. The idea is very scary, as I only speak and read English. I’m hoping to learn another language (or two?) in the next few years, and save up money for the trip from my new business I’m starting soon. I’ve never been out of the U.S. before, so I’ll do my research first. Two or three year’s worth of preparation should give me enough time to plan and make this a reality.

  383. I loved it! ❤️
    Super fun & refreshing!
    Keep vlogging, Marie!
    You are amazing! ?

  384. Will keep my eyes On the Light of Truth. What an episode. Am loving it.

  385. Alyssa

Marie Unplugged is AWESOME! A true testament to keeping the creative juices flowing and giving things a try.

I’ve been wanting to do something creative for quite a while and have made some moves (small, but still moves) to get a blog started. The only thing holding me back is my own mind…I keep debating whether or not I have a good idea, if people will actually even read it, will it last. Maybe I should hang up this week’s tweetable so I read it every morning and push myself to take the risk! 🙂

    • Julia - Team Forleo

You’re SO not alone in getting a little (or a lot!) caught in your mind when it comes to taking risks, Alyssa. We know you can do this and you will really never know until you try! Remember, you have important and unique gifts to share with the world that will help others. Sometimes, it helps to consider whether you’d regret NOT doing/trying this thing 10 years from now. If the answer is yes – then DO IT!

  386. Linda Gardener

    Well, that was fun!

  387. So very cool! Just chilling and unpluggging. Yea baby yea! We all need more of that. Thanks for reminding us. I’m in girlfriend. 😉

  388. Ivey

I love how insanely REAL you are! I watch, listen, and learn from you so I can stay brave in just being me.

  389. Liz

The real you shines through on Marie Tv, honest and caring; so you sharing Marie unplugged with us held no surprises – just as honest and caring. Thank you though for being so open, and good on you for following your heart and being the shining example we all love.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you for this Liz, that means SO much!

  390. Tarja

This was abs soul lutely fantastic!! You cracked me up with your different voices, and love the biggest dilemma right now, ‘whatta we gonna have for dinnnner??’ Isn’t that the daily grind 🙂 Thanks for sharing you fully!

  391. Ha, ha…a glimpse behind the curtain. Always nice to see your “idols” in real life :-).
Creative risk? I’m kicking off the life consulting arm of my business come September which means marketing / networking / advertising / and more openly (much like you did with this video experiment) practicing what I preach. Is there video in my future? Probably, and that, my friends, feels like the biggest creative risk I’ve ever taken to date.

Thank you Marie for showing me the way!

  392. Love, love love this. So real and intimate. So much fun. Yes, I would certainly watch more.

I started a website design agency 2 years ago. Well, I say agency, but really it’s me in my kitchen. Business is great but I need to go for some big accounts to really upgrade my life and my single mom financial security. 2017 is THE YEAR!

I’ve been watching you Marie! But never had enough $ for B School. Thank you so much for all you put out for free. You have inspired me so much. x0x0

    • Julia - Team Forleo

WOOHOO Birit – this is your year!! Huge congrats on starting your own web design agency and all the success you’ve had so far. We’re rooting for you as you take this next big leap in your business. We can’t wait to continue serving you each and every week, and are so happy to hear Marie’s videos have inspired you!

  393. Phylicia Ghee

Loved it Marie!!! Keep ’em coming!

  394. Danielle

Love love love love love this! As if I already didn’t connect with you Marie, this just adds to it! Please do more of this!

  395. Andria Johnson

As always I love your videos, Marie! Your buns(looking at that hair) are swoon worthy and as for the workouts, I’m right there with ya! I wasn’t a Nike athlete, but I did have me some guns. We’ll get them back! Pozies and love,

  396. Dawn Fried

    Fresh! Fun! The Forleo Way!
Loved it! Gives us a look into more of who you are. Always creative, helpful and never taking yourself too seriously. ❤️

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

Thanks so much for the kind words, Dawn! We’re thrilled that you loved seeing Marie in her “natural” element. Thanks for tuning in and having fun right along with us.

  397. Marie, this was so fun to watch! I loved seeing your more personal and less edited side. Your MarieTV episodes are awesome too, but having a video like this that’s an occasional dip into your life would be super fun to see more of. Since it’s so lighthearted, I feel you could break your rule with having a steady content schedule–with Marie Unplugged at least. 🙂 That way, we’ll get to see the moments when you’re just like “I really want to share this stuff with my community!” and there’s no pressure on you to create for us.

As far as a risk I’m taking, there have been a couple. I’ve had a lot change in my life this year, personally and professionally, and I want to tap into this momentum. Even when some of the changes are difficult, I feel like I can share my growth as I go along.

In one social media community, I’ve been making posts of little anecdotes of wisdom that will pop into my head every once in a while. They’re vulnerable things too! Relating to my current thoughts as I sort through these changes. And, I have to say, even after posting only three, I never expected so many people to resonate with them.

It’s fun to get out there and be brave. 🙂

  398. Tracy Poirier

Cool, awesome seeing you being real, I like that, this was good.

  399. LOVE IT guys!! What a wonderful example of creativity. Risk taking? I don’t lnow! It looked so professional… You were in your element! Anyway, thank you also for Kris’s cameo appearance (bonus points). Blessings Marie and team Forleo!

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

Thanks for tuning in, Jeanette! We’re so glad you enjoyed Marie’s “unplugged” video this week– it was a fun one for sure!

  400. susan thornton

Marie – such fun! Love the real authentic vibe – and the guest appearances! Nice to see your hubby too. Thanks for reminding me to take a risk, be vulnerable, try new things and live full out. Happy 4th!

  401. Samantha Switalski

    Love this! More please!

I’m currently working on a lil’ creative writing experiment and this is so inspirational…and also super convicting.

My writing project is basically my dairy: a collection of meditative reflection (very much inspired by Seth Godin & Brene Brown.) Thing is, I’m not sure if I want to share it.

I’d love to share but- Im just really loving creating in the dark- away from judgement and over editing. This experiment is basically a “bear-all” with much more adult language and dirty secrets than I’d like people to hear. So I’m wondering…

Is it still creative courage to create a thing if you never share it?

    Thank you, Marie!

  402. I Luh-uh-uhved this! And I agree re:handheld…. well done! You go girl!

  403. I totally want spiritually aligned veggies ??

  404. Love love love! More of this real life stuff please! And just loved the Kris Carr cameo!

  405. I love seeing this side of things Marie!! ??? I understand the dinner thing, haha! Such a common dilemma, especially when you’re already hungry!!

  406. Alejandra

Loved it! Feels so real and relaxed. I kinda want to watch more of it.

  407. claudine

Very inspirational to free the creativity, thank you!
    This touches my resistance.

  408. Marie Unplugged is amazing! I just wanna ask you one little question: Did you have any moments that you felt you were not fully present while holding the camera and recording the videos?
Sometimes, I really appreciate watching the people behind the scenes but when it’s my turn to do that I feel that I loose the connection with my husband or family as soon as I turn on the camera or mobile. Any tips? I would love to hear your thoughts on that. Thank you so much! 🙂

  409. Very fun. And, as we know, no growth ever happened inside your comfort zone.

  410. Denice Basnett

This is all I have to say:
Love you, Marie. And loved your vlog.
Thank you so much for taking me along with you.
    Good for my heart <3!

  411. Adored you before but now it’s into another stratosphere! Beautiful way to connect to your tribe. Thank you. Felt like you just gave us a sweet sweet pressie! Risks always have rewards. Thanks for that reminder too.

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

We’re thrilled that you loved Marie’s “unplugged” video, Tiffany! Thanks so much for tuning in and being part of our vibrant community.

  412. Allyn Smith

Yup! Keep it up! Loved it a lot!! You are so human, just like the rest of us. We all so need the relaxed times. And . . . You look pretty great, even “au natural”

  413. Go Marie! Love this!

  414. P.S. I love it! What kind of camera are you using!?!

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

Thanks so much, Lindsay! For this particular video, Marie was using a Canon DSLR camera. Since equipment can be a pricey investment, if you’re looking to start vlogging, we definitely encourage everyone to shop around to find what works for your individual needs and budget. When Marie started MarieTV, she was using a simple webcam and her laptop, so you certainly don’t need fancy equipment to start sharing great content with the world!

  415. This was f%^*ing amazing!! I laughed out loud the entire time. Keep them coming girl!!

  416. Leo

Living what you’re “preaching” will make the greatest impact! Love it! Now I need to head on n’ do some legs. Xxxx

  417. Tatjana

    Soooo funny?-please more dear marie?-thankuuuu???..
I never take risk and I always stay in my confort zone+> not so good??
    I want to have a couragous heart of a lion?=> I hope??

  418. Miz

It was super fun to roll with you, Marie! I just knew that Kris would be that sweet and wonderful IRL too.

  419. Absolutely love your experiment, Marie! It’s so refreshing to see you behind-the-scenes, like a normal person … the real you!! I’ve always enjoyed how “real” you are on Marie TV and from B-School videos … but, this brought it up a notch. Last weekend I took a class titled, “Filmmaking at your fingertips: The smartphone documentarian” here in Metro DC (at Docs in Progress). You, my dear, have inspired me to make my first move toward purchasing the equipment needed to start my first documentary! Live the dream! Wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July!

  420. Mary Gunn

I kept looking for Ina. Happy Independence Day.

  421. Martina

I love you Marie. This was really lovely. Would love to see more, but! What’s idea? How often would you post these? You don’t want to become a reality TV star do you? 😀 I respect your work and have learned so much from you.

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

So glad you enjoyed Marie’s “unplugged” video, Martina! As she mentioned, this was a new experiment to simply show a more unscripted, down-to-earth version of herself. While we don’t know if or when she’ll share more videos like this, be sure to keep an eye out for a new episode of MarieTV next week!

  422. Luurrrvve it! Utterly awesome. More please 🙂

  423. Angela

    Oh what FUN.
    Thank you, Marie

  424. Katie Davidson

This is adorable. And I loved the surprise appearance by Kris Carr – I’m doing her cleanse right now! <3

  425. Alana Grant

Loved this Marie! So awesome to get to see you in everyday life doing your thing. You’re such a hoot! Keep on experimenting x

  426. Love this!! Please make more ?
I’m getting ready to completely change careers. I know it’s what I’m meant to do spiritually but my logical brain is terrified! Baby steps for me but I worry I’ll have to leap at some point and take the risk and of course failure is what I’m worried about. I have a safe day job right now but it’s not my passion. This is text book I know but doesn’t make it any easier.

  427. Loved it! So honest! Keep up with these experiments!

Thanks so much for tuning in, Paula!

  428. I just finished four years doing fairly extensive impassioned volunteer support, and I am now utterly lost. I now get why people have health issues when they retire. For four years I did photography and video for our high school bands (marching, concert, jazz), three of those as chair for photography and media. It’s done. Our daughter has graduated.

Photography is a hobby for me, albeit an intense hobby. In addition to supporting the bands, I do fashion photography. The difference is that the band work was regular, and required quick turn-around (self-imposed, mostly). Now it is gone. While the fashion work is exciting, it is irregular at best. There are no football games with half-time performances. There are no band competitions. There’s no band camp. There are no band concerts. There are no soccer games in spring to keep in shape for night time photography. It’s over.

I still love photography. I love photographing people. People like me photographing them and their kids in the band. I have great rapport with them. I enjoy fashion photography. I get along well with professional models.

    What’s next?

I have a fashion shoot coming up in a genre outside of my comfort zone. I chose it to make sure I keep shooting. The anxiety over the shoot exists, but it’s less than the loss of not making photos.

I live next to a salon who “gets” fashion and fashion photography. I wasn’t ready to approach them in the past, and I’m not ready now either. However, I need to be making photos, so it’s time. Ideally we’ll work together, we’ll create photos and expand the scope of their influence in local fashion.

It’s just a couple ideas that may go nowhere, but they’ll go absolutely nowhere if I don’t try. What if the fashion shoot in the new (for me) genre doesn’t work? What if I’m turned down by the salon? What if I make new connections from the fashion shoot? What if the salon work expands to other salons or into other areas of fashion?

One chapter ended for me. It was a big chapter. The next chapter awaits, and doesn’t want to be blank pages for long.

Thanks, Marie! You rock. I love your first Unplugged video.

  429. Annicka

Hi Marie, here’s my honest feedback cuz I think you are awesome. It was a good experiment and I’m honoured to have that glimpse into your lovely life, like when Madonna did Truth or Dare. But your big juicy product for me is Marietv interviews and your spiritual biz advice, bschool and the copycure. I love seeing you in your best style and the goofy theatre bits. I’d like to see more of that. More amazing interviews and how to do tonglen. If you are looking for a risk to take, I’d like to hear you tackle topics like feminism, true love, or politics, but maybe to a small closed audience as I would not want you to lose traction. Just brainstorming here. Really value all you do and maybe unplugged is where it’s at and I’m yet to discover it.

  430. Bridget

Much preferred this to the usual vids, funny, light, real, natural – good job! 🙂

  431. Brilliant Marie! And seeing Kris in your super cool vid, while doing Crazy Sexy You right now was right on point for me (PS: Found her via your interview with her, thank you). Big love for you and your life. As a result of all the greatness you’ve shared and the work I’m putting in, my life is getting better all the time. Each of your vids and emails and B-School are like building blocks that I’m stacking a re-configuring to make my life exactly the life I wish to live x

  432. I love this Marie, because I feel like you’re such a private, polished person. It’s refreshing to see you with your people just being normal. xo

  433. LOVE. More of this realness pllleeeasseee. You rock! Xox

  434. Honestly, I think that if I’d seen more videos like this earlier on in my exploration of All Things Marie many years ago, I would’ve gotten a lot more engaged a lot sooner. MarieTV is very polished, enjoyable, and helpful; that Marie is someone I want to learn from, but THIS Marie is someone I want to hang out with.

  435. Awwww, I love this!!! It’s real. It’s fun. It’s inspiring. And proof that you can be gorgeous, tired, successful, fun, inspiring and REAL all at the same time. Thanks for sharing your wind-down days with us. Hugs !

So glad you enjoyed Marie’s “unplugged” video, Traci! Thanks for the kind words– we all loved seeing Marie in her “natural” element, too.

  436. Oh Marie! More of this please!
We love all and any of your experiments because you are just a genuine gem bringing fun, freedom and feng shui into people’s lives.

  437. Gloria Hamilten

The video is cute. I enjoyed it.
Videoing ‘au naturel’ in all areas, people and activity is a learning curve and you’ve started it. Well done.
Lovely to see was the “back to nature” theme, everyone needs to see that the way back to sanity is to be in dialogue with Mother Earth, bare footed at times, hands in the dirt at times, caring for and talking to plants regularly, even if only on a small scale, taking in the visuals of nature which leads to the spiritual within.
We can change the outside only by going within.

  438. Marie, you are so great. Thank you for sharing your reality with me. You see how I’m talking like I’m the ONLY one who gets to see your precious face! LOL. I just love how REAL you are. This blog or VLOG? is good, entertaining. I know you say it’s different fron MarieTV, it is, but the authenticity of you shines through in all you do. Awesome job girl! I’m a student of B-School & I’ve been a fan for about 3 years now.
So now I’m curious of all this video equipement you are using, super fancy stuff? I’d love to step out of my comfort zone and get creative with video. I often feel, as humans sometimes we are lackingthe reality of what connects us with others. The fact that we are more alike than we are different. Your videos keep that reality in check. I’m inspired to add live videos to my webpage, possibly a blog? Thanks Marie!

  439. Marie, this was so much fun to watch. You made me smile and I loved this daring simple concept that is so opposite from regular Marie TV but still so you. Answering your question: my adventure was launching very recently a podcast about creativity called TanglePod. My friend and I had absolutely no clue how to do this at first. We just so enjoyed our conversations together and decided to try this new adventure! Thanks for showing us it is always ok to go and do something unexpected and try a new adventure. And wow 30+ millions downloads ! I hope we get there sometimes.

  440. Susy

Not really into it. Boring. Sorry. I prefer the polished videos.

  441. Sarah

Hey Marie, that was really nice. Thanks, I like experiments.
Two more weeks work in the public service and then I am launching into my own consultancy. Big goals and dreams and plans and fun and experiments. Creating the Business and Life I love! Keep doing you, it helps me do me.

  442. Love it – this is the best
    Literally – the best
    My next move? Mexico
    Y eso es

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

Thanks so much for tuning in, Sofia! We’re all sending you our very best wishes for your upcoming move to Mexico.

  443. This was great! I loved the casual behind the scenes view of your world and the reminder to accept where you are. It also reminded me that simple things like escaping with friends is as important as the actual work for our progress.

  444. Marie,
Thank you for sharing this new piece in your journey. It really is so inspiring.

  445. Vicky

I loved it. I enjoy MarieTV but that one was more real and I enjoy the fact that even with all your experience in front of the camera you are still learning with grace and it give me hope that I can do the same and just be upfront and tell everyone it is my first time and just do it

  446. Shannon

  447. Radina

Brilliance, Marie! I tend to find raw creative work-in-progress is so much more exciting than finished/ polished work. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  448. I really liked seeing you a little vulnerable, uncertain and slightly self conscious here. It was heartwarming, authentic and intimate. Very sweet!

  449. Hey Marie

Same timing as me! I just started a vlog to document the real
Life of trying to run a business as a photographer as it seems people can relate more to you and I want to relate and make my audience feel like they are not alone and I am just as human as them!!

  450. MARIEEEEEEEE!!! I LOVE THIS VIDEO! So much fun to experiment, isn’t it? You are awesome. Ya know…you have that wonderful quality of being your beautiful, authentic, smart, funny, interesting, fantastic self no matter the setting or topic. And that. Is. Magnetic.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
    Love always, GoTerriGo!

  451. Happy 4th Marie and team!!! I ❤️ you already, but this! It’s like an extended sort of bloopers reel at the end of the MarieTV vids and it’s BRILLIANT! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing. Yea, I know, a lot of caps but it’s how much I love all that you guys do. My big creative risk right now is what to do with my novel. I’m a few thousand words from finishing and I’ve been working on it for 3+ years, so I’m thinking I’m going to self-publish. I’ve been putting it off cause I’m a bit scared of finishing. What would be worse than that is NOT finishing. So thank you for inspiring me to be brave by being brave yourself. All the ❤️ to you and your team!!

  452. This was nice. I look forward to watching another one of these videos.

  453. That was just awesome Marie. So much fun. Loved seeing you, “Joshy”, Kris and Brian behind the scenes… bringing us into your personal life. It connects me so much more with you. Please keep it up when you feel pulsed. Thanks for being you and sharing your beautiful, unique, fun, sassy and wise Light! Love MarieTV. JOY to you today and always,
    Karakrista xo

    • Hailey - Team Forleo

So glad you enjoyed Marie’s “unplugged” video, Karakrista! We loved seeing Marie in her “natural” element, surrounded by her loved ones, too. Thank you so much for the kind words and for being part of our vibrant community!

  454. Goldie Matthew

I liked it. Q&A Tuesday is great. I don’t know how you come up with 7 years of consistently great A’s to our Q’s, but I can see how you would want to bust out into something different. Keep going and you could become the Marie version of Casey Neistat. Bravo. I’ll keep watching.

  455. Amira Loutfi

Hello! I love you, Marie! And your entire team and family and friends. God bless you all. xoxoxo

  456. Loved it, but would hate the format ALL the time. I’m a big fan of balance! xoxo
