Marie Forleo introduction

I'm Marie

You have gifts to share with the world and my job is to help you get them out there.

Inspired and deeply honored. That’s how I feel after reviewing the 2018 B-School scholarship applicants.

Thank you for your heartfelt participation.

Thank you for the enormous creativity and effort you poured into your videos. We’ve watched over 1100 entries — that’s over 27 hours of content!

Before you scroll down to see the recipients, please read these few important notes.

First, one of the primary reasons I designed the scholarship contest this way is to get people to act.

One of my gifts is being a catalyst to help others bring their dreams to life. While some folks make videos regularly, for many of our participants this is the first time they’ve ever shot, edited or uploaded a video.

As anyone who creates content knows, that’s never a small feat! Getting across a clear message in 90 seconds or less takes more time and energy than you’d think.

But as Thomas Edison said, “If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.”

So part of my objective was to help you stretch outside of your comfort zone. To help you articulate and share your vision and take another bold action, which you did.

And I sincerely mean this when I say it: the win is in taking action. The win is taking a stand for what you’re creating and sharing that vision with others. The win is in moving beyond discomfort to expand your capabilities.

Taking risks, putting it out there, doing new things is what being a leader is all about.

But even more important is this. How we deal with any kind of letdown, setback or obstacle shapes our lives more than almost anything else.

Not receiving a scholarship to B-School, nor any other disappointment in life, can’t stop you unless you let it. Making these scholarship selections is never easy. We never take this experience lightly. We never take who you are, the time you put in and the vulnerability you share for granted.

As a fellow creative and business owner, I have tremendous respect for you. I want you to know something from my heart to yours:

You are enough. You are capable. You have the power to bring virtually any dream to life.

Whether you’re able to join us for B-School or not, my support is not going away.

I’ll be here each week through MarieTV, our MF insider’s broadcast, The Marie Forleo Podcast and everything else we create and share.

I’ve been in business now for over 18 years.

If you’ve been connected to our work for any amount of time, then you know this is true: we’re fiercely dedicated to providing encouragement, wisdom and tools to keep you moving ahead. The vast majority of our company’s work is created and shared, free of charge.

Now, without further ado, here are the 18 recipients of a 2018 B-School Scholarship.

1. Chelsea Richson

Chelsea is starting her business not only to save money to send herself back to school (she’s 19!), but to help child brides in her country of Ghana afford the same opportunity when their own childhood has been stripped away.

2. Claudia Brown Coulter

This incredible teacher is combining her passion for education and dispute resolution to help train students, parents and educators to navigate conflict.

3. Lucia Fernandez

Until Hurricane Maria, Lucia had been a successful piano teacher for 15 years. She wants to transition her business into a virtual one, helping save her business and inspire other local entrepreneurs to stay on the island and rebuild Puerto Rico’s economy.

4. Carolina Levien

Carolina overcame her wheelchair shame by starting a blog. She wants more differently-abled people to put themselves out there and needs to turn this blog into a business!

5. Laleh Khorramian

Laleh is an insanely talented visual artist from Tehran who transitioned into hand-painted clothing inspired by found objects. After 2 bouts with cancer, she’s ready to take her fashion brand to the next level and help celebrate women’s livelihoods and true spirits.

6. Margaret Waterhouse

Margaret is a baker and single mom whose take on the French macaron is wacky and creative (chocolate dipped chocolate raspberry? yes please!) and full of joy.

7. Eileen Hayes

Eileen is a yoga teacher and ASL interpreter. She’s creating a nonprofit to help bring yoga to the deaf community by making it easier for teachers to engage with deaf participants and the deaf to become certified teachers themselves!

8. Borya Shapshalova

Borya is a Bulgarian artist who’s starting a movement to bring hope, opportunity and economic opportunities to a country that’s spent too many decades under corruption and oppression.

9. Heather Galloway

After being diagnosed with Autism at 44, Heather created an online platform to help provide resources and solutions to other women like her who are living with Autism.

10. Bia Morales

Bia started teaching crochet and embroidery just for fun. Incredibly, she found her way into the lives of other women who had been impacted by the economic crisis in Brazil. Through her tutorials, those women are now selling handicrafts to help support their families.

11. Natasha

Natasha is a mother of 6 who created the first online platform to connect babysitters and nannies in her home country of Greece.

12. Ashton Colby

Ashton wants to flip the script that tells transgender people they need to hate themselves and instead teaches them to get back into their body through yoga and meditation.

13. Rochelle Harden

After a rough transition from the military to civilian life, Rochelle wants to start a whole new chapter — with a skincare line! One that focuses on the whole woman and generates discussion around self-care.

14. Skool Bus Rocks

A Nashville nonprofit musical duo who bought an old school bus and will spend the next year traveling the country helping under-served populations? Yes please!

15. Thu-ha Le

Thu-ha Le is part of a nonprofit dedicated to the study and resurrection of ancient Vietnam’s culture. She’s committed to changing the world’s perception of Vietnam and to get her country known beyond the story of war.

16. Krystle Baller

Krystle Baller is a baller! This badass uses music to teach girls and gender non-conformists to stand up for themselves. She opened a brick and mortar in Charlotte and even — wait for it — started a punk program for kids, complete with baby mosh pits and temporary tattoos.

17. Bryony Rust

Bryony is a speech and language therapist on the Isle of Wight who helps children improve their communication skills so they can lead a full life, and helps parents better nurture’s their child’s development.

18. Cassie Winter

After struggling with chronic illness for over half her life, Cassie is ready to achieve financial independence. She’s building an accountability service to help people like her finish the projects they dream of getting done.

I’m very happy for the winners, and I’m very thankful for all the free content that I didn’t know existed until this past week. I’ll be sure and learn all I can from it!!!

This is amazing, congratulations to all the scholarship recipients! I stumbled on it too late so can’t apply for a scholarship this year – but I want in! I’m going to get four more people within the next five days to purchase my new online course so I can afford B-School! I’m teaching holistic wellness with a creative twist using poetry to better tap into our emotions and inner-selves to teach artists and creative-minded people self-care (meditation, mindfulness, yoga, healthy eating), how to make the best use of our creative energy, but also how to earn a living doing what we love through a programme I created called The Poetic Wellness Programme.

  19. Vee

  20. Definitely an impressive list. Cheers to all the amazing heart-felt entries, and especially the 18 scholarship winners!

  21. Hey Jamaal, thank you for pointing out that B-School is for every gender! OMG, literally every human who lives and thinks with their heart needs this message!

  22. Dawn

Huge congrats to all the winners, totally well deserved. Doing the video was the BIGGEST kick up the bottom I needed – it’s relit my fire and I hope to be enrolling this week XxX

  23. AMY

Congratulations, everyone that made a video and also the winners of the scholarships! I know the making of the video really got me out of my comfort zone… I have never made any video or really heard myself on tape for years. After a few tears shed, I am trying to figure out how we can make B-School happen for our organization. We need it and are really feeling stuck right now. I started this entire venture on my own, figured out how to design a website, and sold my house to start our nonprofit and keep things running. I guess if I can figure that out I can figure out how to attend b-school. I guess the hustle is what makes the dreams work… struggle too! Do Good & Be Well, XOXO Amy

  24. I read that list and I think YES!!! GOOD CHOICE!!! So I’ll get my sequinned ass over to B-SCHOOL enrolment and join what I think I think is going to be the most HEART-FUL, creative and energising community ever! HOORAAAAAAAY! 7am… must to time for coffee but had to check scholarships first!

  25. bansi patel

I opened this page, did not read the content, scrolled down to the winners andddddddd I did not win!I was saddest and heart broken. But after which I thought, there will something good to happen and I am still sure going incredible will happen.
But I am so happy for the winners! For all those you did not win and had tons of hopes , do not be heart broken. We can still use all the tools Marie and her team provides! It is gold! Keep going because as Marie says “Stay on your game, do not give up!Because the world needs that special gift that only you have!”
Thank you so much Marie and team, much love for you always!! <3

  26. Anna

To 1082 folks who did not win the scholarship – Last year when I saw the list of recipients without my name on it my immediate thought was “Maybe I am not ready to have a business, this is a sign I shouldn’t do it”. I was so overthinking why I did not get it – I missed the whole experience of B school launch. This year I watched main 3 training videos twice and 4 webinars Marie did. I have half of my notebook full of ideas from just that free stuff. Now again I see the list without my name on it and I am thinking “All of these recipients have such complex stories and difficult ideas to implement. Maybe this is a sign that my path will be easier – what if I CAN and SHOULD do it.”. Interpreting this situation is just a reflection of what you already decided before. If you have the 200 dollars to sign up I recommend to use it. Those butterflies you had when filming the video and imagining all that is possible – this feeling will be the same next year. I just signed up!!! Sad me from last year is having a party now. See you there 🙂

  27. Congrats to all the B-School Winners!!

Have fun with the program and make the best out of it!!!!!
All my love from Germany to Marie, #teamforleo and the B-Schoolers 🙂

  28. Congratulations to all the winners! Congratulations also to everyone who was brave enough to step in front of the camera and share a little bit of their story!

It’s never easy (I was terrified) to be in front of the camera, to try to share your business and your heart, and to do it in 90 seconds. But you did it!

My big questions for the winners, the other applicants, and the lurkers who wanted enter but couldn’t convince themselves to get in front of the camera and put it out there is….what’s next?
I’m still trying to figure it out myself but right now there’s a whole lot of watching all of the replays of all the free content that Marie and her partners put out during this launch and figuring out how to apply the knowledge they shared to keep growing.

  29. Yaaaaayyyyyyy!!! I’m so honored. Thank you for believing in me!

  30. Wendy

Congratulations to the scholarship recipients! I will see everyone in 2019.

  31. Claudia Massot

    Congrats to all the winners!!!
You all sound amazing. I am soo inspired to keep working just reading what you do in the world.
    Awesome job everyone!

Marie and Team Forleo: wow! 27 hours watching… You rock!!

  32. I keep coming back to this page and staring at my name on the screen next to all these incredible humans. I’m so humbled and honored! Thank you so much! This is a game changer and I’m going to use this generous gift of education to help millions of people, I have no doubt! <3

  33. Konstantina Komnitsa

I’ve just finished watching every single video of the winners and I am so moved! You are all amazing, unique and so deserving of the scholarship. I am excited for the difference you are going to make in the world. And @Marie Forleo how blessed must you feel to know that you help create so much goodness in the universe… Thank you.

  34. Oh my goodness! How amazing is this! I’m so excited for you all to have won this amazing opportunity! Congratulations to each and every 2018 scholarship winner!

  35. Congratulations to all the scholarship winners!!!!! And kudos to all of us who joined and submitted a video! We are all amazing for showing up, stepping up, and sharing ourselves with the world. Let’s all continue the awesome work we’re doing and share the special gifts that we have to make this world brighter! 🙂

Marie and Team — THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the you do to help us be the best and most badass creative entrepreneurs that we can be! I’m so grateful to be part of this community! 🙂

  36. Greta

Rushed here as soon as I read that the names were up and instead of disappointment, what I found here is loads of inspiration!!! These stories blew my mind! You all sound sooo deserving of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Eager to live in a world where people like you are making a difference.
See you on the course! (Thanks to the magic of the payment plan and my credit card, I took the plunge lol)

  37. Priscilla Smikle

Congratulations! You guys are amazing and certainly deserve to win! At first I was a little salty that I didn’t know there was a scholarship. However, these recipients deserve it hands down! I wish this was offered twice a year so I couldve been apart of this amazing program! Well now I have 12 months to save; no excuses!

  38. Marta Lenartowicz

    Congrats 🙂

  39. Congratulations to all the winners. Wishing you the best on your journey.
Sad, I didn’t win. 😞 I’ll try again next year.

  40. Kellie

Congratulations to all of the winners! Cassie Winter, your story really touched me as it is similar to mine. I am 27, have had chronic health issues since I started high school, and have been very dependent on my family. Things are getting better now and, similar to you, I am trying to get on my own two feet. I soooo wish I could have found the community you talk about when I was struggling. I look forward to seeing you in B-School and the wonderful business you’ll create!!

  41. Where can I sign up to be considered for the next scholarship for the next session. I believe this class would move me a great direct.

  42. Whoo hoo!!! See everyone in B-School. Let’s change the world TOGETHER! Can’t wait to get to know my new B-buddies. 🎉💃🏻🤓

  43. Ama

Congratulations to the B-school scholarship Winners!! What great luck. I so want to do the program!!!

  44. Hi Princess Marie
I remember that l made it clear on one of your platforms that l’ve completed writing quiet a number of gospel tracks and are about to record and release with the Angels and the rest. Although there are still revelations and discoveries of gifts that should follow the song in their order of excellence. These is the process l think l can start by making my gifts materialized one after the other. Thank you. Is there any opinion?

  45. Mariy zaista ču biti uz tebe ada to ti i ne znaš. Podržavat ču te u svim dobrim djelima koja radiš. No ja imam svaki dan mnogo novih izazova koje i svakodnevno rješavam. A osim toga imam i mnogo važnijih poslova koje nikada neću ostaviti pomagati – starijim ,bolesnim, nemoćnim, gladnim i još mnogo potrebitih ljudi cjielog svijeta. Amen.

Hi I’m really happy for them ! thanks for this opportunity for them to be there

  49. Congratulations to All Winners! Feeling hopeful that this world is filled with great people who are striving to make it a better place. I am not selected, but I still pat my shoulder to take the courage to make the entry video (first time in my life!) 😁 Then finding out that for so many other participants the video was their first time, too, give me so much encouragement! Thank you for the opportunity and challenge, Marie and Team! I expected to be really down not getting the scholarship, but surprised that I am actually pumped to work even harder to make my dream business (wedding florist, and wedding hub – later when the floral runs profitable – I am ADD with dreams!) up and running and profitable! I feel fortunate to stumble upon your amazing work! Thank you!

  50. Thank you Marie for the opportunity to enter in this contest as you said, we’ll keep learning from you and your interviews. Congratulations to the winners!

  51. Wow what an amazing group of people, congratulations I know you will create so much more goodness in the world! I’m feeling a little sad as I missed the deadline for scholarship submissions, but am pushing myself to take the leap and sign up. I made a video last year and submitted a couple minutes too late! This year I want to make a difference in our lives and am writing this here to get my courage up.

  52. Alex

Congratulations to you all winners! Your ideas keep inspiring me to make my dreams take shape. I am going through a difficult time where somedays I loose hope, clarity and confidence. But I remind myself that I have the strength, intelligence and determination to soar. I am wondering if there is still time to join. I am selling a lot of stuff that I am not using and use my cushion savings. Besos!

  57. Congratulations to all the winners as well as to Marie for providing the Scholarship which is changing lives in locations throughout the world. Wonderful way to inspire people to action.
Wishing each scholarship recipient the very best.
