The importance of gratitude cannot be understated.

As you may have noticed, when gratitude is done right, it’s a transformative force. (Oddly enough, gratitude does have a downside too.)

What you appreciate, appreciates. Click To Tweet

However, this new happiness-boosting habit can be even more powerful than gratitude.

This isn’t just theory.

We’ve been testing it out on our weekly Team Forleo meetings and seen the results first hand. Everyone in our company is raving about it.

In this week’s MarieTV, you’ll learn what this new practice is and how to start using it right now.

  2. Hey Marie,
Thanks for the thoughts on appreciation. I do appreciate you and your program because you end up being the pick me up that I often need. You get how hard having a small business can be and provide motivation to keep it going!
I also appreciate my CEO, sister and awesome friend – Dr. Georgia Duerst-Lahti – for creating this business and bringing us along for the ride. It’s quite the book we’re writing and every chapter is an adventure!
Hugs to all your staff Marie!

  4. I appreciate you, Marie, for every single thing you bring out into the world.

Now to answer your question about another specific person, I appreciate my colleague Codruța who works harder than most people I know and who still finds the patience to talk to all the people that call her every day and at the end of the work day still finds the time and patience to teach her little girl how to become a confident and wholesome human on her own. I appreciate her for all the effort that cannot be seen from the outside, that I’ve recently had a glimpse of, and I appreciate her for the way she works on becoming a more balanced and content person every day.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Love that, Andrea! Codruța sounds like an incredible woman and so do you. 🙂

I so appreciate your humor, love of life and family. I say that because you never cease to open our eyes to new experiences. You dedicate yourself unconditionally to your son and show him every day what being a wonderful father and adventurer looks like. You encourage us to live more, love more, and seek more. Whether it’s watching a movie on our couch at home or walking the streets of Kyoto, you’ve given us the world and we’ll never stop appreciating you for that. I love you and am thankful for you every day.

  9. Forest

Hi Marie, I really appreciate your work, your wisdom and how you deliver them with your awesome team.
I think Thanksgiving is not about eating Turkey. As you said is about appreciation and gratitude for all of the people in our life, the waters of the world, the low growing plants, the animals of the world, the trees, the birds, the moon, the sun, to the life energy that gives us vitality, and to our creator. Please save a Turkey.
    Love and blessings

  10. Very abraham xx

  11. Thanks for such a great message! I appreciate my husband Barry for loving me and taking good care of this family. I really appreciate him as my best friend and teammate. He plans the best epic adventures and family vacations – always considering carefully every detail. He’s the best.
    Thanks again Marie!

  12. Allison Stevens

I appreciate you Marie and your team. Your positivity and light are definitely leaving a mark on this world.

And I appreciate my husband for believing in me and seeing the best version of me in those times I struggle to see it.

  13. April

Why do I feel like crying whenever I appreciate someone to them. I can appreciate them to others or just to myself without the water works, but face to face it makes me want to cry. I am not a big fan of my appreciation water works!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Awww, they sound like happy tears. It’s clear you love them a lot and seeing how they react to you appreciating them warms your heart. <3

  14. mary beth

Hi Marie, I appreciate you and your team. I love the music at the beginning that makes me happy, I love your advice and how you give it (you don’t preach, you share your wisdom). Happy Thanksgiving Marie

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s so kind of you to say, Mary Beth! It means the world to us that you’re enjoying the show. Thank you for watching and we’ll be wishing you a happy Thanksgiving too! 🙂

  15. Hi Marie, love h having this chance to say I appreciate you! You’re both beautiful wise and funny. Thank you for all you do.

I also want to appreciate Regena Thomaschauer for creating the School Of Womanly Arts and for encouraging so many women to bring themselves higher. Regena is brilliant, funny, honest, has penetrating wisdom and great kindness as she deals with all of her students. She has created this wonderful school for women to grow and it means a lot to me. Thank you Regena !

  16. I appreciate my 80 year old mother, who is a pioneer as a women, thinks positively, who has always encourages me to live a creative life and be a force in the world.

  17. I wanted to give a shout out to Stacey Martino, a relationship expert, and someone whom I’ve worked with for the past few years and appreciate SO much.

I’m a classic example of “don’t know what I don’t know.” I had met Stacey through our coaching group and instantly was attracted to her because she was a TRUE go-getter. I am a service provider and one of the things we love about clients is their willingness to have an open mind and basically let us do our thing without micromanaging and that was Stacey.

I worked with her for a few months and, through osmosis, I began learning things. Lots of things! Things like how to make my relationships better, not just with my husband but with my whole family, friends, and colleagues. Not only how to work with our online business team, but how to build a high performing one. And of course, what it truly takes to be a business owner because it’s not always blue skies and onion rings.

One time, long after we stopped working together and I started doing my own programs, I was having a tough time after a launch didn’t go as planned. She reached into her toolbox and said the perfect thing to reframe the situation. I think we may have only spent 10 minutes on the phone, but what she said that day turned everything around. That failed launch turned around into a successful venture that I still do today.

Take it from me, I know the good, the bad, and the ugly because I work with clients and see the storefront AND the dirty closets so to speak. But time after time, I picked up things that were incredibly useful to my own business thanks to Stacey. Stacey has an affinity for exclamation points so I want to pay homage and say, “YES!!!!! Stacey Martino is as awesome as everyone says!”

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s fantastic, Lisa! I hope you’ll tell Stacey what an amazing impact she’s had on you. I bet it’ll make her day!

    • Lisa Wells I love and adore you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this beautiful story of gratitude!!! As you know, we love and cherish you, ALWAYS! It’s been my honor and delight to serve you! And I feel incredibly blessed to have been served BY you as well! Before we became the FORCE of nature that is today… you were there! Championing me and teaching me what we needed to do to grow and scale! Thank God you did! You are beyond amazing and we can’t thank you enough for all you have done for us! Love you LISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. I appreciate you and your team for showing us what is truly possible. I love how you are a living example of how to have a business and life we can really love. The good, the bad and the struggle. Your courage to be yourself inspires me to do the same. Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy the love of family, friends and food of course!

  19. Petra

    Hi Marie,
What a great idea and a fresh look at our life and our surroundings and sharing that with all our close friends and family during that special Thanksgiving dinner. Nice twist to the traditional …I’m thankful for…

I appreciate my husband Leigh, he is my rock and I know I can always count on him and he will support me in anything I decide to pursue. I appreciate how creative and smart he is, his honesty and his positive outlook on life. I appreciate his sense humour, love for traveling and exploring. Because of him I want to always become a better version of myself.

  20. I so appreciate you. Your energy and wisdom and frankly, your guts and determination to be YOU! And I so appreciate validation that I am heading in the right direction. I just created The Appreciation Journal.

It’s been a long time coming. And don’t we know, the more we have, the more we can give. Namaste and Happy Thanksgiving! #YayMe #KnowAndOwnAndBeWhoYouAre

  21. I appreciate Heartmath, Seth Godin, and you Marie.Fifteen or more years ago, I read an article written by Heartmath on the health value of applying appreciation in one’s life. I became passionate about applying appreciation in my life. Then shortly after, I read a blog by Seth Godin who said if you feel passionate about something, start a holiday for it. So I did: Because most people find Monday’s a tough day, I initiated on Twitter and Facebook a day that I call Appreciation Monday, and I have been posting it every Monday since. Over the years, hundreds have been following. Thanks, Marie, I appreciate you for talking about appreciation, and yes, I agree with you that appreciation is different from gratitude. We need both.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s AWESOME, Jim! I love the idea of turning something you’re passionate about into a holiday and rethinking a regular old Monday as Appreciation Monday. Nice work!

  22. Toni

This is a great exercise! I can feel my energy level rising just thinking about all the people I appreciate and how I’m going to let them have it! ha haha!
So, here’s one. I appreciate Jennifer Rotermund for the way she shares the beauty of the natural world with all of her friends. Her photography is saturated with spirit and love and her own appreciation for nature and she lights me up with that. She is truly sharing her unique gifts.

  23. Hi Marie,
I LOVE this focus for Thanksgiving. I think it’s a great twist on the usual “What am I grateful for?” ritual. However, just to point out, I think that appreciating people is a big PART of gratitude, and not something different. I love the power of gratitude so much that my entire business is focused on creating tools to help people enjoy the miracles it brings! And through my work, and my personal experience, I have found that once we take on a regular gratitude practice such as keeping a journal throughout the year – and not just at Thanksgiving – we naturally begin appreciating the people in our lives more. We notice things about them that we didn’t before. We appreciate the stranger who holds the door for us and the barista who pours our coffee. Our spouse for making dinner. Our kids for being silly. Our friend for calling when we really need a chat. We are more willing to smile and make eye contact and slow down enough to connect. And the best part? Once we start doing this regularly, others show more appreciation for us which just feels awesome. We definitely need more appreciation in our fast-paced culture. So thank YOU so much for bringing this focus to Thanksgiving – it’s a great time to start an ongoing gratitude practice. Love you Marie!

  24. Thank you Marie and team for your work on making this life easier with your thoughts and resources. I really appreciate all the materials, post and videos for their simplicity and profound teachings at the same time. I love the sense of humor, the music and the moves! May good health, fortune and love be around you all year long. Happy holydays! Your fan from heart!

  25. I’ve been using this as a practice in my women’s work (although it would work equally in mixed groups) for years and the results are AMAZING. It boosts everyone so so much, it boosts confidence, courage and wellbeing. So go and appreciate.
It particularly works in relationships and I’m often telling my man what I appreciate about him and he loves it 🙂

  26. Alexandra

Thank you, Marie, and all your team to! I’m from Brazil and here we do not have thanks giving, but I always found that was a nice holiday. Today, watching your video I understand why. I absolutely love eating togheter and being with my beloved ones to celebrate life and be grateful for that.

Well, I do appreaciate my friend Gabriela, beacause of her unique way to balance strenght and love. She’s a passionate journaliste that works with marketing and education and want to change the world through her job. At the same time, at the age of 28, she has already built a wonderful family. I know how hard she must work to keep the balance between family and her profession. Still, she manage to find time to help those who search her asking for some kind of advice.

  27. Meghaan

Thank you Marie for always delivering these messages and reminders in such a entertaining and uplifting way!

    • Meghan

Oops! I spelled my own name incorrectly. LOL!

      • Mandy - Team Forleo

No worries! We love that you were that excited to share some appreciation. 🙂 We appreciate you tuning in and letting Marie be a part of your world!

  28. Stephanie

Hi Marie!! I’m new to your episodes, but have been following your emails for a while. Totally passing this on! Appreciative of your positivity to change lives, just like my personal goal in my small business!

  29. I appreciate Marie and Team Forleo because they always make the best videos! They are insightful, entertaining, and filled with love and passion. Every week inspires me to be a better version of myself and that is a gift. Thank you!
I appreciate Johnathan Tilley because he shares his journey, soul, and passion for creatives in such an honest and giving way. He’s helped me see patterns that no longer serve me and has helped me grow as a person and in business. Thank you, JT!
I appreciate Anthony Williams (Medical Medium) because his ability and knowledge have given me the gift of good health and balance. His information saved my life!
I appreciate my amazing husband for his eternal love and support. He is my perfect soulmate to ride this crazy ride.
I appreciate all the lightworkers, animal rescuers, and people who care about the planet and the creatures on it. They are the glue that holds our future together. The work and dedication they put in every day is mindblowing. Thank you for your passion and dedication.
Hope everybody has a beautiful holiday filled with joy and love. Namaste

  30. I love this tool, the way you shared it, and not just for around a holiday table. It’s a great way to build relationships with your children and partner all year long, but also in the workplace where many feel (and are) unappreciated often.

And on a personal note, I like how you chose to share the quote that is hard to attribute to a person, but to the work of someone that is spreading that message. I am stealing that how to tip, for my own business file!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

We definitely agree, Theresa. Any day is a good day to show someone you appreciate them! 🙂

  31. odile

Marie I appreciate you for your joy and freshness, you are so damn refreshing , thanks god you are a gift …

  32. Gratitude is what brings me happiness in life, but it does need to be put into action, in my words and in my deeds. I tell others that I do appreciate them, but never often enough. It’s a consciousness that is developed living life to the fullest in the present moment every day.
I journal every day. I appreciate and thank the God of my understanding for another day of the sober life, for friends, family and even my enemies, because often they have the most important lessons to teach me.

  33. Thank you so much, Marie. I appreciate YOU for your dedication to inspiring so many of us to live our dreams. Love the Thanksgiving song at the start btw – hilarious.
    Happy Holidays everyone!

  34. I so appreciate my Daughter for all the loving things she does for me every day. She really knows what I need and is so important in my life. She makes me laugh when I don’t want to and she helps me appreciate the beauty and wonder in the world. She truly is such a loving and giving person, she lights up the world with her light!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

She sounds like a lovely young woman who has learned a lot from her mama. 🙂

  35. Michele B

I love this concept – thank you Marie!!! I appreciate my father. At this moment, he is at the hospital with my younger sister. She is a single mom having shoulder surgery so it’s Pop to the rescue!!! He’s 80, still works and sends a group text every morning to his 3 daughters with a positive love note for the day. He is strong, loving and loyal and will do anything to support those that he loves. Thank you for giving me the forum to appreciate my wonderful Dad. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! XO

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

What a great dad! We’ll be sending lots of love your sister’s way for her surgery and wishing her a speedy recovery.

    • Amanda

Randomly cool, that is so great, thanks! What a supportive family!

  36. Virginia Reeves

Thanks Marie and team for continually bringing good thoughts and practices to include in our daily activities. I appreciate my husband Tom for his support, friendship, kindness, construction expertise, willingness to help others, and his love. 44 years together and we still enjoy being together. Thanks honey for being in my life.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

This is beautiful, Virginia! How amazing that the two of you have been together for 44 years, what an inspiring love. This is no doubt the result of your sincere appreciation for one another! Thank you so much for sharing this with us here 🙂

  37. Sadie Schrader

To complete the story, this is the history behind America’s Thanksgiving.

After every killing of a whole native village, the European settlers celebrated, and they called the celebration “Thanksgiving.” President Abraham Lincoln later made “Thanksgiving” an official American holiday.

In your festivity, please take a small moment to honor the history of this American celebration. Thank you.

  38. Amanda

Marie thanks I appreciate you soooo much!! The way you get the message across by using dance, song, humour, the way you dress and of course your lovely hair. (I want hair just like it). You have inspired me so much over the years and your seriously rock the planet with wisdom.
Now to my other person, Shannon. Thank you Shannon for your beautiful smile. The times in my life you have flashed your fully fledged smile, with piles of love has been truly inspiring. I have felt ontop of the world, even if I’ve been to shy or scared to come and give you a big hug/kiss to respond, I’m sure I smiled back. And your voice is just so tbh, sexy, reasurring, calm, therapuetic, plus the greatest singer, which has given me the inspiration to sing!! Ahhhhhh. Well and those lips, plus beautiful teeth. Lets just say your mouth has got it going on!! And what a kiss, god/your mama, blessed you with a mouth/smile from heaven; I bless them both, thank you Shannon.

  39. Qelsey Zeeper

“Husband”?! Marie did you two get married? 😀

  40. Carrie

My brother! As children we fought but as an adult I always appreciate that he always has a unique point of view and ideas that no one else has thought of. He is lovingly disagreeable and because of this I have grown a lot. 🙂

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Wonderful, Carrie! We just love when relationships transform like this over the years and we’re able to appreciate and learn from important people in our lives, even if we see things differently. So lovely of you to think of your brother in this way!

  41. Trudy Sutherland

I appreciate my older brother Steve Guenther who has always been supportive and loving – he’s a great brother, a wonderful husband to my sister in law and a fabulous father to his children. Love my BUB

  42. Ashlyn

I appreciate my mom, Shanna, for her strength and compassion. Even when all is against her and shes having trouble getting back up, she had it in her heart to be compassionate and loving.

  43. Marie, like the others have said, I certainly appreciate your humour and your joy in life. You consistently bring a smile to my face, even if the topic is serious.

I also appreciate my nanny Brittney for being there to listen to my rants, to lend a supporting ear and to share the challenges of raising my four children.

  44. Sandi Henson

I appreciate you dropping pearls o’ wisdom into my inbox each week Marie and today’s message is right on point. Thing is, I’d like to share my appreciation for more than one person. I’d like to share it with a group of beautiful people – the people of Zimbabwe.

The way you approached the dramatic changes in your country this last week with such grace and peace is incredible. You are an inspiration to the world. So let’s give thanks and appreciation for this momentous day in your history and know your future is as bright as you choose to make it. With love and light always. X

    • Julia - Team Forleo

This is so wonderful, Sandi! Thank you for including the people of Zimbabwe in your declaration of appreciation here. Beautifully said, and here’s to more peace in our world as a whole.

  45. I appreciate my dear friend Sylvia Mallory for her tenacity and fortitude. I think she was the one who introduced me to Marie, too! Sylvia is a powerhouse of DOING for other women and wants every woman to achieve their dreams. She supports my crazy ideas and has made a huge impact on my life.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Awesome, Devra! We love hearing this. Sylvia sounds like an absolutely amazing woman. How lucky you are to have someone who supports all your ideas! These people are truly gifts in our lives.

  46. Matthew McGuire

  47. What a wonderful twist to show some love! I appreciate so much all the inspiring MF intel that arrives in my inbox, It is a gift to myself to spend a few minutes to read these emails. In my personal life, I SO appreciate my partner Diego. He is an incredibly honest, passionate, and focused man. He has my back, supports my decisions (but will always real talk me when needed), and is an overall healthy and positive presence in my life. #dreamteam <3

  48. Pauli

Why does Marie have all of these people we don’t know in her videos? Are they her camera crew?

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Pauli! Yes – those wonderful people are additional members of our team, including the camera and editing crew, as well as set design 🙂

  49. Hey Marie and team!

  50. Sudheer

    Dear Marie,
You are the source of inspiration in all walks of life. I appreciate your quality of motivation in diversified subjects with aspirations . My endless love with you all time. All the best to you .

  51. Dear Marie & Team,
I appreciate y’all for the time and effort you put in to make these videos. The advice, laughs and friendly kicks up the bum you provide keep me on track. You’re my pocket rocket.

  52. Hi All, I really appreciate my husband for being the best dad out there. We have a 5 year old autistic little girl who is non-verbal. He is so intuitive with all her needs, makes her laugh and is her best friend. They are so cute together. I travel alot for week and could not do it without him!

    • Julia - Team Forleo

This is beautiful, Jackie, he sounds like an amazing man. Thank you for sharing your appreciation for him with us here!

  53. Marie, I love your fresh perspectives on everyday habits!

    Ben Young,
I appreciate your love for me. I appreciate that even when we get into giant fights, you still think of my needs and are always willing to cook for me when I’m hungry and build me stuff when I am in need of it. No matter what we’re going through in our relationship at that point in time you are always looking out for me. I truly appreciate you and I love you dearly!

  54. Dear Marie,
I really like the idea of showing appreciation to people in our lives. We certainly need validation from others, even if it means just a few words to show you haven’t been unnoticed, invisible…
Not being a native, though, makes me lose some of this incredible language that’s English. I looked it up in the dictionary, I swear to you, but just couldn’t find the meaning of “how much you JUJE the set of Marie TV”. I had to use capitals, sorry… What does that mean, Marie? Please enlighten me. Thank you so much.
    Yours faithfully,

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Hi Marisa! You’re SO right about our need to be validated as humans. “Juje” is a made-up term that Marie uses to refer to Greg’s special way beautifying the MarieTV set by making little adjustments 🙂

  55. I appreciate my boyfriend, Jack, for his patience and understanding and for going over and beyond to make me happy!

  56. Hello Marie
And Happy Thanksgiving. As always this is crazy on topic as I was coming to Marie TV this week I was thinking how do I write this without sounding schmaltzy.
I appreciate You and Bschool and Marie TV and the Marie Forleo Team for getting me into the now. I am learning all kinds of new getting it out there and you can do it on line things I would not have imagined before. And creating my new online business Still learning.

Marie, I appreciate your videos and humour.
I also appreciate one of my closest friends, Ali, whose positive attitude and brightness gives me a lift whether I’m having a good day or bad.

  58. I really appreciate my brother. He quietly sees my needs to fix up my house and garden and travels two days in a car whenever I need him to come and help me out. He does all the things I know need fixing, PLUS all the things I haven’t even got around to thinking about. He works really hard and I know he has my back on all levels.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Sounds like an absolutely amazing brother, Amanda!

  59. Amr

Marie, I will make a combination of gratefulness and appreciation and will send it to you and everyone in your team for delivering such episodes all over the year to make me happier, more sucsessful in my work, and most importantly encouraging me to get my master degree, Marie you are such a source of happiness even without talking about anything, thank you for everything

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Aw, thank you SO much, Amr! This means the world to us. We’re so glad that Marie and our show are a source of happiness for you. Huge congrats on getting your master’s degree, we’re so proud of you!

  60. I’m appreciative of one of the best friends I’ve ever had in my life, who always has time for the people she cares for. Her name is Janine, and she is an R&B singer with big goals and a bigger heart! She hustles and has the most positive spirit. She had the grace to offer me a living space in her apartment right now, as I am at a huge crossroads, choosing to leave my current educational path (and means of financial support!) in order to grow my tarot and healing business, and to finish writing a book that has long been in the works.
She pushes me to hustle hard, to own my own worth, and to grow my dreams. <3 <3 <3

I appreciate my amazing, incredible, super-sexy-silver-stallion, my boyfriend, Guillermo. He is dedicated, loving, thoughtful and completely present when we are together. He challenges me to be a mature and thoughtful person in my worst moments (death of a best friend, loss of a job, you name it, he’s there and clear-minded about everything). And, he even gets my weird need to dance to my favorite songs in public. Truly, he’s such a gem.

  62. Marie, you will never know how much my little boy Joaquim, 4 years old, and I enjoyed this week show. He asked me to watch you dance more than 10 times and was in tears from so much laughing each time you would say ” just a little song”. And tonight before bed we were saying what we appreciate on each other. Such a gift… Thank you, you are precious…

    • Julia - Team Forleo

We love this, Sofia! Thank you so much for letting us know how much Joaquim enjoyed Marie’s dancing 🙂 It’s beautiful that you shared your appreciation for each other, too. We’re so grateful to have you both in our community!

  63. Silvia

I appreciate all the wisdom in your work, and how beautifully (and funny) you present it. It has influenced my life so much, and B-school is the tool that guides me to make come true my projects and dreams. Thank you Marie and Team Forleo for the hard work you do. I really appreciate it and value it so much.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you, Silvia. This is music to our ears and we’re so honored to have you in our community! We love hearing that B-School is helping you make your dreams come true. Keep up the amazing work, we’re cheering for you over here!

  64. liz

Thanks, Marie! Love you and all that you do! Another great show! I appreciate my children, Tavon and Tannaz. I learn more from them every day. They are loving, compassionate, intelligent, creative, and have a wonderful sense of humor! Tavon has a knack for making us all laugh and lifting our moods, and Tannaz is the healer when we are needing a little TLC. I love them both dearly! I am going to use this appreciation exercise at our Thankgiving dinner! Thanks – great suggestion – and for all year round! 🙂

Marie (& team) I appreciate your sharing of outstanding and insightful wisdom, this particular episode resonates with me so profoundly right now you must know the idea I am working on and keep providing little gems of powerful and positive motivation. Please keep up this amazing knowledge sharing and empowering of so many. You do make a difference and inspire so many. Happy Thanksgiving!

  74. Thank you for this treasure Marie! Appreciate Appreciates!
I appreciate my friend Bev. She always makes time for me, listens to my ah ha moments and gives me thoughtful feedback and support! She’s a great friend.

  75. I appreciate my father Frank Spinner for being a loving man. He loves his wife, he loves his children. He is unabashed and completely transparent about his choice to love people exactly where they are. He’s an excellent role model.

  76. Fatima

Hey Marie I appreciate you for making these videos and for all the hardwork you put in them. I have been watching u for years now. And I still look forward to your videos. Your advice and wisdom has shaped my thoughts for the better. Thank you so much.???

  77. Anni

Juris and Inguna, I appreciate your hospitality, your connection to a bigger force and your unlimited willingness to serve humanity and bring some light to this world. It is because you are able to not let your ego stand in your way and see that we are an important drop in this ocean of life but no drop is more important than the other one.

I am writing this now because we have a difficult time together. But in this times, thanks to Maries words, I do not want to poison myself more with negativity, cause it is not leading to the good. I want to be thankful, I want to appreciate and lets see if this can help us in our friendship and connection.

    With respect, Annika

  79. Barry Hall

    Hi Marie,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of your Fabulous Girls who always give me a Fabulous thank you to my emails.
    Best regards
    Barry. (a.k.a. Mr Fabulous)
I will send you a video thank you.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Yay! You’re the best, Mr. Fabulous!

  80. Daniel Pereira

I truly appreciate your delightful presentation on every video, it make a person smile and feel happy for the rest of the day. Your bubbly mannerism is very catchy that places anyone in a good bouncy mood.
I appreciate everything and everyone in my life, family, friends and those occasional pests that you can still love them, that are from those few that we learn a lot, special how to control oneself. HAHAHA
Appreciation in it self has no limits, because all that surrounds you that has been created by nature natural forces, by any animal or human it needs to be appreciated for the value and benefit that brings into our lives.

  81. Benson Modie

Thank you Marie, I really do appreciate all the free education that you and your team are providing to humanity, to help us get better than we have always been.

  82. PJ

We’ve already had Thanksgiving here in Canada but I am going to put this into practice TODAY! What a wonderful gift to give. Thank you Marie and Team 🙂

  83. Marie, I loved your “appreciation” video so much that I wrote a blog about it in my weekly facebook and LinkedIn posting and included a link to your video (Lorraine Grubbs Team Building Expert).

I am older than you, but find your approach refreshing and, this “experienced” person is never too old to learn. Thank you for all you do…and keep doing it!

  84. Mary

I appreciate Dan. He is the most determined person I know. When something in our lives breaks, he figures out how to fix it even if he had no prior knowledge of how that item worked. If he wants something, he doesn’t quit until he gets it done!

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Those are such great qualities in a person! 🙂

  85. Hi Marie
Well, I really appreciate you and your team for bringing such joy and inspiration in to the world of business. The humour is delightful!
I am truly grateful for so many people in my life, but today I would like to show appreciation for my neighbour Robin. She is bringing Thanksgiving to our neighbourhood here in Perth, Western Australia. I love Robin for her effervescent lust for life and can do attitude. Can’t wait to enjoy my first Thanksgiving with you Robin. xxoo

  86. Marie and Team Forleo, thank you for this episode! The distinction between gratitude and appreciation can appear subtle at first thought, and you brought light to the difference! Thank you.

I greatly appreciate my husband Mike. He is humorous, loving, courageous, and lives life to its fullest. He pushes me and all those around him to be better/kinder/more loving people. I appreciate his courage to pursue his dream as a photographer and share the journey with me. He is my rock and my lifelong adventure partner.

    In much appreciation,

  87. Kirsten Michel

Loud and clear! I DO make this a practice in my everyday life and it is amazing to watch others when a little light into themselves starts glowing…will keep practicing and being more aware of this through the holidays. P.S. I appreciate my husband of 10 years and my son for always being the brightest lights for me in all scenarios throughout this roller coaster ride called life…
Happy Thanksgiving Marie, I appreciate you and your team as well for being a constant voice, reminding me of intentional living practices whenever I need it.

  88. Marie,
I so appreciate your loving character, your sense of humor, your generosity, your dances and your amazing team.
I say that because of your creative and abundant ways of sharing your knowledge and contributions to make each of your followers world better and more beautiful. Forever grateful for, “there’s always more where that came from.”
Thank you and thank you team Marie for sharing and creating such warming place to be and for creating so many minutes of wisdom to build a life to love.
    Happy Thanksgiving !

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

Thank you, Tania! We really appreciate your sweet message and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving too! 🙂

  89. We do this regularly after family meals and call it the “Round of Applause Game”. We take it in turns to give each other a round of applause for something they’ve done eg round of applause for mummy making an awesome roast dinner, round of applause for daughter for trying so hard in her maths this week, round of applause for daughter for giving me a lovely hug today etc.

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s fantastic, Sarah! What a beautiful way to teach kids this concept. 🙂

  90. I appreciate my husband Steven. He is always positive and cheery and keeps our family laughing

  91. Shal Tharumalingam

Hi Marie! The one person I want to say I appreciate is YOU! I love your material and your recent interviews have had such an impact as they have resonated with me so strongly. I love your style which is fun and down to earth. Your sharing and messages are full of wisdom. Wishing you and your family every success Marie and I am looking forward to having the honor and privilege of meeting you in person in the near future. It is on my Bucket List!

    • I feel the same, Shal, just posted below. I so appreciate Marie, she has changed my life in so many ways. Such a tour-the-force GIFT. ? ❤️

  92. Lydia Maria Eichiner

“Dear Amani, I appreciate your ability to smile and make jokes (something like “spumanti halal”) and your sense of humor also about your situation, even if not always very easy”.
“I also appreciate your ability to learn and become better all the time.”

  93. Love it! Marie I so appreciate you for your SUCH POWERFUL dedication to your people (me included) and your relentless determination of spreading your profound and life-changing messages. I love you very much, bella, since way back when we first met. You are such a powerful force in my life. I so love and appreciate you. ❤️??

  94. KG

Thanks Marie!! I so appreciate you and all that you do that builds a positive, life affirming vibe for our planet and every being on it. You are such a beautiful role model for truthful expression of your life. Seeing the evidence of life well lived is a priceless gift you share with us all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Much love and gratitude to you and Team Forleo!

  95. Marisa Quiroz

    Hi, Marie and team
I appreciate you so much! thank you for the hours you put in to make our lives better! I send you tons of love! <3

  96. Jehanne-Marie

Interestingly enough just 15 minutes before watching this episode I was called to let someone know that the way they spoke up today and defended a particular issue was inspiring, and that I *appreciated* their compassion, passion, drive and how articulate they are. I used phrases like “I am proud to know someone as ____ as you are and I always admire how ______ you are!” (just another way in which someone who has difficulty with words of appreciation can model a template). I have to say it was so fulfilling for me to let this person know that their voice was heard and valued, and to try to encourage them to always speak up for these kind of issues. And in turn, I think she really valued my courage in letting her know that.

Not sure why I’m sharing this but authentically communicating appreciation just makes the world a little sweeter, especially when you’re not doing it for any kind of response or reciprocal appreciation (but! it does tend to come back to you which is a bonus!) – I totally encourage any other readers to try this 🙂

    Happy thanksgiving all xxxxx

    • Mandy - Team Forleo

That’s so awesome, Jehanne-Marie! I bet your message made their day!

  97. Marie Forleo. I appreciate you for your exceptionally well-expressed voice, sense of humor, fashion flare, and even though we can’t tell from your Marie TV episodes, I know you must do some of them when you really don’t feel like it, and when you have a crisis going on in your life. I appreciate that about you the most, you keep giving, even when it’s difficult.
    Oh, and your B-School, that’s been a life-changer. 🙂
    Love Tammy

  98. Becky

    Hi Marie,
Thanks for all your videos and emails. I look forward to receiving them every week! The videos and emails are beautifully crafted with fantastic content and guests.
Thanks to your team too, for making it look so effortless, when actually it takes hard graft to produce this kind of quality. I am entertained and inspired every time I read or watch. Going through really tough times with a child with special needs, who hardly sleeps and is really aggressive, plus financial difficulties – you are an oasis in my life, where I can draw strength and hope. Thank you for sharing the special gift only you have.

  99. Stella

I appreciate my sister Valerie. She made my birthday very special this year and is the best roommate I could possibly have! She is brave, smart, and independent. I feel lucky to have her as a sister and a friend.

  100. Rita Chen

    Hi Marie,
I appreciate all the thoughts and ideas you share, always make my day and feel positive
: ))) How amazing you are & your team!
Also, I appreciate my dear sister Yaping. I’m the idealist and too kind to shun away from others’ requests. Thus easily gets hurt… But she always tells the fact and teaches me how to get through hard times. Thank you for having her as my sister !

  101. Liz

Marie, I appreciate you! You’ve been such a wonderful teacher and mentor for me and so many others! Thank you for showing up and living in your purpose so authentically. Thank you for tapping into your higher potential! I also appreciate my future husband Tory. He is able to give and receive love so fully, openly and warmly. We have a relationship that I truly treasure. I appreciate that he believes in me and loves me for my true self. I appreciate my family for always being there for me. I appreciate my BF Tracey for sharing her soul journey with me. She’s truly been a soul sister and a rock.

  102. Marie:

I appreciate YOU and especially that adorable dance you did at the beginning of this video!
Also – I appreciate my husband! Specifically for his ability to manage 1 million tasks at once, his generosity and his never-ending desire to spend time with me and our daughter.

  103. Noelle

My husband and I do this little exercise every week. We call it the State of the Union and it goes like this:
    What I appreciate about you!
What I need from you this week?
What I need to feel loved!

Super fantastic to appreciate others, daily!

  104. Luisa

Thank you Marie for your this last Episode, It’s is like adding a pinch of Cayenne Pepper in my meal :). and I love your yellow dress! Thank you for the playfulness in your videos. It reminds me of not passing one single day without having some fun! ??

  105. Susie

Marie, this is just what I needed. Some days I wonder why a gratitude list just “doesn’t do it for me”. But once I started to think about the things I appreciate about someone, it made me feel much more fulfilled.

Justin, I appreciate that you work long hours to support our family. You do it without complaining and you still find the time to cuddle with me and our two pups. You are an amazing role model and I love that you are relentless when it comes to the pursuit of OUR happiness

  106. OMG!!!! I’m just watching this today, Nov 30th, and I’m so in sync vibrationally with you!!! I started a #100DaysOfAppreciation on FB a couple weeks ago, before Thanksgiving because I get the same idea about it!!!! Gratitude is wonderful but typically is about past accomplishments, appreciation brings me to the now and it’s sooooo powerful!!! Love and Light to you Marie!!!

I am thankful for my husband because he builds me up, pushes me further and loves me for who I am.

  108. Good idea.

  109. DNN

absolutely love your undying positive energy Marie. Keep doing what you’re doing because you’re lifting up a lot of people who are unsure about their entrepreneurial journey. It can be challenging in the beginning stages of anyone’s journey to entrepreneurial greatness to keep the faith while doing the transformation business work out of inspiration or desperation.

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Thank you SO much for these kind words – it means the world! It’s true, that the entrepreneurial journey is a challenging one. We’re honored to serve you and our community along the way and can’t wait to share more inspiration with you!

  110. Hi Marie! I loved and appreciated your little ditty at the beginning 😉 and also the bloopers at the end! Thank you Team Forleo for your amazing and inspiring work.

  111. Marie,
I really appreciate my family who love one another to accept each other’s differences, embrace each other and show empathy where there is need, and enjoy each other’s company enough to go the extra mile to connect. I appreciate and am thankful for my family and extended family, and those who I coach for the gifts they bring, the hurdles in life that they are willing to share, and the actions they are willing to take to find their peace.

  112. John Garland

I know it has been said elsewhere, by many people from all over, but I’ve changed Thanksgiving into Thanksliving!! As a small boy, we have always celebrated this holiday with looking back on all the things we were thankful for and celebrated all the people in our lives. Well one Thanksgiving I decided that we all should celebrate this glorious holiday all year and change it Thanksliving instead. The idea wasn’t new, but the title was new to our family and everyone started talking about it to family and friends. Like most ideas I believed it spread like wildfire, because just a few years later and a half a continent away, I heard the lesson taught to a church group in Texas, I was from Virginia.

Now you have come along and changed it to Appreciation, with a powerfully good logic sounding explanation to super charge its activity to all who follow you. Don’t be surprised if you too hear someone teach this simple Truth to their little group somewhere remote, like I did. I mean let’s face it, the planet Texas actually considers Virginia, the home of the founding colony that started this whole thing we call the great US of A, a flipping suburb of theirs. OMG!!! They really needed to learn of Thanksliving and Appreciation!!

One thing that stands as an assuredly in my eyes is that you and team Forleo more than deserves an appreciation from all of us who come to know and indeed love you all. So, with all the love and respect from the very depths of my soul, I love and truly appreciate you all.

    • Sarah - Team Forleo

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, John – they mean a lot to us. And you know we LOVE the idea of Thanksliving! We’re just so grateful to have this community full of big, world-changing hearts –and that’s definitely something we celebrate each and every day.

  113. Danielle

Hi Marie; like so many have said above I do appreciate you, your team and your messages, but I really appreciate the way you deliver them. I’m trying to bring back that quirky side of my personality that I loved having when I was younger (kinda lost it somewhere along the way).
I am fortunate enough to have 6 sisters (not just one) that I appreciate very much. One passed away far too young, but I appreciated her soft, gentle heart. One has lived far away since she was 17 and I 15 years old and we allowed distance to be a factor in how close we are, but I appreciate the strength I’ve witnessed in her through our long distance relationship. My oldest sister and I communicate now and again but we allowed the age gap to be a factor in our bonding. Now the 3 sisters I keep in touch with on a regular basis: they are my life line, they have my back at all times and I theirs, I respect them and the grace, kindness, thoughtfulness and appreciation of love and life they inherited from our mother; they shine these gifts on me all the time. They are my very best friends. Our mother was so proud of them and she should have been, she did such an amazing job raising the most incredible people I get to share life with.

  114. Marie, I truly appreciate your carving out time from your uber-busy schedule to regularly feed your tribe such nuggets o’ wisdom as the difference between gratitude and appreciation.

    I say that because …

    First, a little background.

I have run a one-man-band home-based business since 1985. Having launched my business before Internet permeated the world, I often felt lonely, isolated, and separated from the camaraderie typically associated with co-worker interaction. Although I have formed a wealth of on-line business relationships since then (some of them going back to 1996!), I make it a point to set aside time to listen to your nuggets o’ wisdom – pretty well as soon as they arrive in my email inbox. On more than one occasion, you have lifted my spirits from ho-hum to humming, and your motivation drives my spirit for hours – and sometimes days – on end.

Let me take this opportunity to wish you, your family, and your friends a wonderful Thanksgiving. And … would you consider sharing your mashed potatoes recipe with your tribe? (Inquiring minds want to know … LAUGH!)

  115. Irene Sibaja

I appreciate Elizabeth DiAlto…. four years ago she taught me the practice of surrender and release which was the first step in getting unstuck…. and I appreciate that she doesn’t just say… she does… nothing better than a teacher who walks the talk.

  116. I love it when my mum treats me or me and my family out for lunch dinner. Thanks mum.

  117. Edy Sarvash

Just wanted to say hello and to give many thanks for this. 🙂
I have experienced issues with appreciating others, to be honest, I hope you can advise what could be causing the problem.
Whenever I express my appreciation to a person, they don’t respond in a positive way.
It does not go around the table like it did in your illustration. I just feel like I keep expressing my appreciation to people and they feel like it’s an ego boost to them. But they don’t respond the same way. Somehow this appreciation circle does not include me. I just keep saying “you are sooo good because of this and this” but the respond is usually “thanks” and that’s it, they are gone feeling like they are the king and I am the servant serving their ego.
What do you think I am doing wrong?
    Thank you
    Edy x

    • Renee – Team Forleo

      Hi Edy,
Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us. I know how hard it is to feel unappreciated, and please know all of us on Team Forleo (including Marie) appreciate YOU! We think you’re pretty amazing, have incredible gifts to share with the world, and we’re delighted to have you in our community. So soak up that appreciate juice because we TRULY appreciate you, friend. ?

You may want to approach the practice of appreciation from an “unconditional” mindset. Meaning, practice appreciation with zero expectations of receiving something in return. Appreciation will work its magic in your heart because you’re acknowledging someone for the joy or meaning they bring to your life. When you focus on what you *truly* appreciate about them, and let them know about it with no expectation of appreciation in return, you’ll probably feel lighter and more at peace.

If you watch the video closely, you’ll notice the appreciation circle never made it back around to Marie. She offered appreciation to Zach with no expectations for him to return it back. Instead, he passed it along to Jams. Marie still benefits from giving appreciation because she’s made Zach feel seen, loved, and appreciated.

Another strategy to try is a daily practice of offering appreciation to yourself! You can start your day with a mantra like this: “Edy, I appreciate you for the hard work you put into your business. You approach your work with grace and ease, and you’re impacting people’s lives in a positive way.”

Sending you lots of love and appreciation, Edy. ?

      • Edy Sarvash

Aw thank you, this is beautiful!
I’m going to find ways to integrate into my system 🙂
Thank you so much for finding the time to reply. It means a lot to me.
I have also just remembered something: it’s so important to express our appreciation to the “right” people. Everyone deserves appreciation, of course, but if we chose our company wisely, it’s highly likely we are going to end up in a company of individuals with a mutual appreciation for each other. Moreover, as you say, I cannot expect an appreciation from others who see the world differently, therefore might not recognise the value of my offer to them.
The mantra is definitely going to be part of my daily routine from now on!
It’s great to be part of such an amazing community.
Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

        • Renee – Team Forleo

So wise, Edy! Yes, always do your best to surround yourself with others who are positive, appreciative, and supportive. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! ?

  118. Hi Marie
I appreciate my husband’s incredible will power and capability in practical things and in helping me out of critical situations. I appreciate help being given to me from friends, and I do appreciate the “everything is figureoutable” mantra you taught, that helped me achieve a big collective project just this week-end, with a fantastic positive energy. I also appreciate my own skills and capabilities, my determination and adaptability. I appreciate every day lots of gifts and situations. I’m so lucky. I wish to thank you for your wisdom and attitude; truly a mind-changer.

  119. Caroline

I appreciate so much the man I’m in love with (unfortunately not my partner yet!).
I appreciate him because he’s funny, he’s at ease with everyone. He is very kind. He’s careful for everyone. He is supportive. He is very smart and bright. He’s also elegant and very handsome. He’s so a great person!

  120. Cathy

I so appreciate my dad because he is absolutely awesome! The most thoughtful, selfless person I know. I pray that as I age I am able to emulate him more & more!!!!
My dad sparks joy in my life & in the lives of every single person he meets.

    Such a beautiful soul!

    I love you Marie….

    • Renee – Team Forleo

I LOVE this, Cathy! It’s so nourishing to appreciate our family members. You have a special bond with your dad, and we’re honored you took the time to share your story and heart with us. Sending lots of love and appreciation your way!

  121. Hi Marie,
I love how you help me embrace my imperfections.

    Thanks for being you.

    • Renee – Team Forleo

Yay, Marie! We’re so glad Marie could help you feel seen. Sending you lots of love! ?

  122. Bethany Hissong

I really appreciate Lisa Brenninkmeyer for Walnuts With Purpose and allowing me to be a small group leader this year! I have never felt closer to God and longed to know more about what He has in store for my life. I’ve learned to be thankful for times when things were hard because Jesus is always with me and He always takes those things and uses them for good. It makes me thankful every day!

    • Bethany Hissong

Walking With Purpose (I’m not thankful for spell correct, LOL!)

  123. Lucienne

I so appreciate the time you took to write your book Marie (with support and backing from your team and friends and family). I say this because your message is so strong. The more we all grab onto everything being figureoutable, the easier it becomes for appreciation to appreciate ……
Happy Thanksgiving, Lucienne in sunny South Africa

    • Renee – Team Forleo

Aww, thank you for this wonderful dose of appreciation, Lucienne! We’re truly grateful to have you in our world, and we’re delighted you enjoyed Everything is Figureoutable. Wishing you a restful and nourishing holiday season in South Africa!

  124. Great post and Happy Thanksgiving to you Marie, and your whole family.
I appreciate my hubby who is always working to assure I am able to be on my game. He is my sounding board, my safe place, my best friend, the one who gets the whining when the pain is too much, the one whom I love with all my heart… I appreciate all he is and all he does.
    thank you

    • Renee – Team Forleo

Yay! Hubby appreciation is so good for the soul. Thank you for sharing your heart and story with us, Elaine, and happy holidays to you and your husband!

  125. Hilda Belmont

Dany, I so appreciate your trustworthiness…
I say this because even though you are far far away, I feel you very close to me…
I can always count on you to share the good and bad moments of my life, I love that you never judge and you are a great listener
    I hope its both ways

  126. Dan

One of the basic needs of humans beings has got to be being appreciated. It certainly is a unique feeling. Thank you for that! And I want you to know that you as well, my dear Hil, belong to my indeed very short list of people I feel certain I can rely on, in this life of mine full of uncertainty.
Wish you the best in life!!

    • Renee – Team Forleo

This is beautiful, Dan & Hilda! All of us on Team Forleo appreciate the both of you very much. ??

    • Hilda

It means the world to me!

  127. I’ve noticed that appreciation is the state in which true love flows. Many times when I express my appreciation for someone I’ll be so overwhelmed with love towards them that I’ll begin to cry. It can be a bit embarrassing but beautiful at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone! It’s a great reminder for when we forget how to let love flow.

    • Renee – Team Forleo

Oh, Alisha! Thank you for sharing this beautiful idea with us. I think you’re 100% right. Love is selfless and appreciative and cannot flow through any other sources. ?

  128. I appreciate my brother, Paul for his thoughtfulness. He found ways to make logistics of Thanksgiving prep easier and reached out for extra support on my behalf when he found out I was sick. As a result, I felt loved and cared for. ❤️

    • Julia - Team Forleo

Wow, Reshanda. Paul sounds like an absolutely wonderful brother. We’re so glad you have him and are feeling loved and cared for this holiday ❤️ Hope you’re feeling better soon and have a great time!

  129. Madison

    I love this idea.
I appreciate my husband, David, for being his most authentic self, and supporting me in being my most authentic self. From letting me stay in bed when I need a break, to listening when I need to process my thoughts and feelings, to giving me honest feedback when I ask, to finishing a household chore when I need to pack for a trip, I know I can trust him with my most vulnerable thoughts and he will simply, and profoundly, let me be me.

    • Renee – Team Forleo

This is so beautiful, Madison! It sounds like your husband is a wonderful human, and we’re grateful he’s carved out space for you both to be your most authentic selves. Thank you for sharing your heart and story with us, and we’re wishing you and David a happy, healthy holiday season!

      • Madison Dunn

Thanks, Renee 🙂 Same to you!

  130. Erin

I appreciate my nephew E, for being completely curious, wanting and willing to learn about everything. I appreciate his bundles of energy and never-ending desire for play. I appreciate him for how much he loves his brother, Mom, and Dad. I appreciate his smile and eyes that express all that he is.

    • Renee – Team Forleo

So lovely, Erin! Thank you so much for sharing your heart and your love for your nephew with us. Nephews and nieces are sooo special, and we’re so glad you bring each other so much joy. ?

  131. Marianne

When I read the MFInsider newsletter about Gratitude, I thought about a recent chapter in “The Charged: Activating the 10 Human Drives that Make You Feel Alive” —which thanks to you and your podcast featuring Brendon Buchard, I am reading. One of the exercises helped me discover how I haven’t really sought to know people beyond surface crap. I mean, why don’t I know if my officemate likes sweets or not? So, this week, I decided boldly to seek more about others—not in a creepy way, but to honor them and their identities. Thanks to you all at Team Forleo! I now know that one loves milk chocolate, another is a Bailey’s Irish Cream fan, and that another gets her nails done religiously every two weeks at a local salon. Now, when I gift them something this season, it will be more personal and with a handwritten note appreciating them for what they do. Here’s to you all for challenging me to continue to grow and share my gifts with the world.

    • Maja - Team Forleo

We love this so much, Marianne! Kudos to you for taking the time to learn more about your colleagues and what is it that they enjoy! It will make your gifts so much more thoughtful and personal, and the act of gifting that much more rewarding for you. Thanks so much for sharing!

  132. I appreciate this episode of Marie TV because I searched for ways to appreciate others work… and now I have an idea how I could do it 🙂 ;P 🙂

  133. Thank you so much, Marie!
    This video was awesome

    • Maja - Team Forleo
