We’re baaack!

From our summer holiday, that is.

Gotta say, it was a blissful two weeks. I basically did a stay-cation and Josh and I split our time between the beach and then totally off the grid (no cell service or internet) in the country.

I made some interesting discoveries, too.

It took me 2 days to completely shift out of work mode and into vacation mode, which is a huge improvement over my last extended break. (That time took me about 6 days). My time off was mostly filled with reading, bike rides, movie nights and, one of my favorite pastimes, cooking loads of great meals.

I also did a 10 day detox (no sugar, gluten or dairy — which is impressive for a woman who loves cheese and wine as much as I do!) and could not believe the difference it made.

Time off was extremely rejuvenating, and I’m thrilled to be back to share today’s MarieTV with you.

3 Branding Ideas You Can Learn From Artifact Uprising

Just got back from a sweet little trip to Portland, Oregon. Hadn’t been there since I was a Nike Master Trainer years ago.

But unlike earlier visits, this time I had more of a chance to enjoy the city and culture — which is AWESOME!!

Dazzling hikes in the forest, mouth-watering meals and great conversations made it a pretty spectacular weekend.

One thing I really appreciated was the heart and humanity I felt throughout the city — especially from small businesses.

From tiny food carts to huge antique shops to a brand new boutique built entirely around artisan butter

There was a strong sense of local pride and love baked into every offering.

And in my opinion, boldly expressing the heart and soul of your business makes a tremendous difference — to yourself, your team, your customers and the world.

Feel Like It’s All Been Done Before? Watch This.

What we’re talking about today is often a #sbd dream killer.

(#sbd = silent but deadly. Usually used to describe farts, but equally applicable to habitual mental patterns that limit your experience of success and happiness in life.)

This particular thought pattern often lingers in our minds and gets triggered when we compare ourselves to others. Sadly, it also leads to chronic creative wuss outs.

That’s when you never actually create anything because you’re too afraid it’s all been done before. The thought loop usually goes something like this…

“Whenever I see someone doing the same thing I want to do — it takes me down! It’s a confirmation there’s nothing unique or original about me or my ideas. I’m a fraud. And, they’re all light years ahead of me. What’s the use in trying anyway? It’s all been done already.”
