The moment we dive into a new field or industry and get to know the competitive landscape, it’s almost inevitable that we have these kinds of thoughts.
Doubt and fear quickly follow as we wonder, “How on earth am I going to stand out in this overcrowded market?” This is exactly what Nani, a 45 year old mom from Hawaii, was struggling with as it relates to her new massage business.

“OMG… why can’t I figure this out!?! It should be such a simple decision, but it’s freaking killing me.”
That was me when I first started my business. The issue I was wrestling with: deciding what to name my business.
I couldn’t figure out whether I should name my business something catchy, descriptive and memorable, or name my business after myself.
Sweet mother of cookie dough! I circled around in this creative cul-de-sac for longer than I care to admit.
In my mind, this was big. Plus, it was holding me back from moving ahead on everything else.
After all, the name of my business informed what my website would be, my email, what logo I’d design, what I’d put on business cards, what my “legal” business would be, if people would remember me, if they’d take me seriously in the first place (or so I thought) and yada, yada, yada.
As a young and totally inexperienced entrepreneur, I investigated this sticky “how to name my business” issue from every angle I could think of.
