Addicted To Work? Here’s How To Not Miss Your Life

Gosh, when today’s question came in — it was something I could really relate to.

It’s about wrestling with your deep desire to create and produce, contribute your unique gifts to the world (i.e. WORK!) and honor the small voice in your heart that that whispers, “Don’t be such a workaholic that you miss out on what truly matters. Life is short.”

How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. ~ Annie Dillard Click To Tweet

It’s a topic I revisit often, in my thoughts and conversations. While I don’t claim to have it all figured out…

There are 4 distinct, very doable practices that can help you honor your drive to produce and help you stay out of unhealthy work addiction so you don’t end-up ripping through life, left with only a pile of regrets at the end of your days.

Make Better Decisions: 3 Steps To Decide What’s Right For You

Last week, I did four interviews to support the launch of this year’s B-School program, and one question came up again and again. The essence of that question was this:

Marie, when you make big decisions– how do you do it? Who do you call to help you figure out the best thing to do? What’s your process?

Whether it’s deciding between ordering the kale salad or a tuscan panini, or deciding whether to make a bold move in your business — all of us face a million choices every day.

The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them. Anonymous Click To Tweet

Big choices. Small choices. And many seemingly “insignificant” choices. As you know, every decision we make helps shape our reality. Compounded over a lifetime, those decisions create our ultimate destiny.

Should You Quit Or Commit? 2 Ways To Find The Answer

Let’s talk for a minute about what it takes to accomplish something important.

You know. Bringing any seemingly out-there or even “impossible” creative idea into physical reality.

Most of us start new endeavors with total optimism. We’re either super confident. “I soo got this.” Or at least, enthusiastic and hopeful. “I think this could really work!”

But during any project, there comes a point when the proverbial shiz hits the fan.

Plans go haywire. You get sick or creatively blocked. Key players disappear, have accidents or meltdowns. Technology decides not to work. In other words, you get slapped hard by Murphy’s law.

Your feelings will guide you if you have the courage to tap into them and listen. Click To Tweet

It’s usually around this point when the thought of giving up crosses our minds. We wonder…

4 Ways To Sharpen Your Intuition – Even If You Don’t Think You Have It

This is a big, exciting week in my neck of the woods. Right now, we’re in our Team Forleo summer retreat.

Since we’re a virtual company, it’s important for us to have in person time to connect and collaborate. Plus, we’re a cozy bunch of creative folk and crave long hugs and lingering conversations over delicious meals.

During these meetings, we come up with ideas and make decisions that impact the entire direction of the company and, quite often, my life.

Seeing that you’ve had a gut instinct in the past helps you pay closer attention to it in the present. Click To Tweet

Without a doubt, the capacity we call upon the most to make those decisions is our intuition. How we instinctively feel about an idea, possibility or direction.

Of course, we also do our due diligence, we run projections, we research and we get the facts.

But at the end of the day, the driving force behind our business (and my life) comes from listening to that inner, instinctual voice. That natural knowing that isn’t bound by logic, fear or past experience.
