Marie Forleo & Leila Janah: Fighting Global Poverty Through Technology

The violence, inequality and injustice that exists in our world right now can feel insurmountable.

One thing that always gives me strength and hope is recognizing that, amidst the pain and challenge of our times, there are legions of remarkable human beings who are actively working to create a better world.

Not only for themselves, or for a specific religious or political ideology, but for all of humanity.

There’s a psychological ripple effect that comes with the dignity of work. @leila_c Click To Tweet

Specifically, for the billions (yes, with a b) of overlooked, forgotten and often marginalized populations. Their important stories rarely make headlines or garner the support of international leaders.

But as my guest today wisely said, “You don’t have to accept the world for what it is, but you can mold it into what you think it could be.”

Each of us has the power to use our lives to lift others up. Leila Janah, founder of Sama Group, is a living demonstration of that. Listen in as we talk about the transformative impact of dignified work and how technology can be leveraged to make our world a more equitable and just place for all.

Educate A Girl, Change The World w/ Marie Forleo & Tammy Tibbetts

Every once in a while, you meet someone who is the epitome of eloquence.

Someone who inspires you with her gentle strength, loving heart and fierce determination to make this world a better place.

That woman is Tammy Tibbetts, founder of She’s The First. Tammy and I connected last year, when we sponsored nine amazing girls through Tammy’s organization in honor of Malala Day.

(Huge shout out to our STF scholars – Idda, Makesh, Maimuna, Rachel, Swastika, Mariamawit, Mary, Irma, and Elizabeth!)

Move yourself out of the way & there's no limit to what you can do. @tammytibbetts Click To Tweet

In today’s episode, you’ll learn how Tammy went from selling prom dresses to launching a global organization that has sponsored over 1,254 years of girls’ education in low-income countries.

The goal is creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders.

Because as research has shown, when you educate a girl, you change more than just one life. You change the world.

While I adore this entire conversation, I really want you to listen for this…

Scott Harrison: How Water Changes Everything

Last week, we were shooting a bunch of new videos at the studio.

Over lunch, a big talk bubbled up about drinking enough water. Especially how water makes your skin glow, turbo charges your energy, helps you sleep and wake up easier, and keeps everything “flowing” if you know what I mean.

So for the past week, my water consumption has been even higher than usual — and I gotta say, I feel amazing.

It’s wild how something so basic can so easily be taken for granted, right?

Water can give a woman dignity, at the most human level. @scottharrison Click To Tweet

That’s why I’m particularly excited to share this conversation of Scott Harrison of charity: water with you. Not only is this one of our most inspiring episodes of the year…

It’s also a chance for you and I to do some incredible, world changing good, together. More on that in a moment.

The Single Most Powerful Action You Can Take To Grow Your Business

Last week I got an email from my friend Elizabeth Gore about an event she was hosting in at MTV for a UN Foundation initiative called GirlUp.

In a flash, I realized I had earmarked 5% of net profits from our Rich Happy & Hot Virtual Mastery coaching program for women-focused philanthropy, and I’d been waiting for the right organization to give it to. This felt perfect.

How To Eat As Much Mashies As You Want, Sans The Guilt

Ever sit at your Thanksgiving table and think, “OMG, we have so much freaking food here.  There’s enough to feed an army…”

And then your mind jumps to, “This is excessive. I should probably be volunteering at a soup kitchen instead of eating my fourth round of mashed potatoes and gravy.”

I sure have.  In fact, I’ve had that thought for years and haven’t acted on it, until now.

Last week, a friend asked me if I wanted to be on the host committee for The Robin Hood Foundation.

Without blinking or knowing exactly what that meant, I said, “Yes!”

Turns out that the Robin Hood Foundation is one of the best run non-for-profits around.

And totally inspiring from an entrepreneurial perspective.
