Full Stack WordPress Developer

You’re a hardworking, full stack WordPress Developer who lives and breathes detailed, custom work. You thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment and your top priority is making sure customers have an excellent digital experience.

This position will be an integral part of our web development team. You’ll be responsible for collaborating with designers and product owners to build and improve our high-performance websites, including our custom member site that provides online educational and coaching experiences for tens of thousands of people. You’ll also develop custom WordPress functionality while improving site reliability and security.

As a part of our team, you’ll wear many hats and have the opportunity to help grow and shape the future of our company. The only limit is your drive, commitment and imagination.

Reading this makes you say, “WHOA — that’s ME!”:

  • You’re a skilled front end developer who loves to use their deep understanding of user experience to make websites more visually appealing and user friendly
  • You’re proficient in back-end development, including managing website changes and updates, structure, security, and content management. You’re comfortable coding in languages like PHP, HTML, and CSS
  • You know how to effectively leverage OOP principles within WordPress architecture
  • You have working understanding of data abstraction, the WordPress database structure & schema, and how to extend it for custom functionality
  • You have experience with both SEO and accessibility best practices and understand the need for both
  • You’re experienced with browser and device testing, their respective nuances, and can leverage proven tools for debugging
  • You’re a self-motivated team player with strong problem solving abilities and a solution-oriented mindset
  • You understand that change is a constant and as such, you’re highly adaptable and a skilled communicator in all formats with great people skills
  • You’re practically always on time (or early) and strive to deliver ahead of deadlines
  • You have excellent project management skills and are able to juggle multiple projects while communicating honestly about your timelines, challenges, and questions
  • You do great work autonomously and as part of a highly collaborative team (you’ll need to do both here!)
  • When a mission-critical project happens, you work until the job gets done
  • You do whatever it takes and the phrase “that’s not my job” is not a part of your vocabulary
  • You’re hyper focused on getting the details right — you don’t do sloppy work or let little things slip through the cracks
  • You’re on top of the latest and greatest in techniques, trends and technologies

In an ideal world, you have:

  • 3+ years of relevant front-end development experience, (including HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and optimization of new and existing web properties
  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience in coding within multiple technology stacks (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node, and PHP; relational and non-relational data persistence and storage strategies)
  • Deep understanding of PHP and WordPress, including but not limited to custom theme and plugin development with hands-on troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with data migration into and out of WordPress
  • Hands on experience with CI/CD workflow
  • Past remote work experience

This position is not for you if:

  • You have personal drama
  • You don’t really commit wholeheartedly to anything
  • You think self-help is weird
  • You have no sense of humor

The nitty gritty:

  • This is a full time virtual position working with our virtual team. You’ll have full autonomy over where you work, what you wear and which pet sits at your feet
  • Paid medical and dental insurance, plus $1,500 HSA deposit
  • Vision insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account for health insurance and childcare
  • 4 weeks company closure time off (exact dates determined by company)
  • 10 days PTO
  • Paid holidays
  • 5 sick days
  • 3 personal holidays to use as you choose
  • 401(k), with company match & profit sharing
  • Paid parental leave
  • Colleagues who will make you laugh and support you every step of the way
  • *Please note: Applications are only open to U.S. residents
